maigomika

Hi! My name is mika, and I live in a Japanese “akiya” house, one of the many vacant houses in Japan, with my partner. Here, I’ll be sharing candid insights into traditional house life in Japan, house renovation projects, and all the little stories that making living here such a gem.

In 2021, my partner and I moved to a rural town in Shikoku island, Japan’s fourth main and smallest island.

What a lovely place you all have there, what is the name of the river that flows by? Look so clean and must be nice to go for a swim? Thank you and god bless

I’d love to see what the town centre is like - are there izakaya? Post office? Community center, shrines, etc? What do locals do for fun?

Hello, Mika. Great video, as always, and happy pancake birthday. I'm curious about the river near your house. Is it possible to fish in this river? Maybe we'll see Jesse showing off his river fishing skills in upcoming videos.

PALOMA!!! What an upgrade! That's what I use in my off-grid house in Hawai'i. It's mounted outside right next to my shower on the back side of my house which is super handy if the water gets too hot and needs a quick adjustment. The flowers out front look beautiful! 🌸🌿

i used to live just less than 200m fr a forest in East Malaysia back in the mid 80's and I can say its been a wonderful experience. Air is cooler, cleaner and I get to go fishing & shrimp catching with friends. The downside is you will occasionally bump into snakes and scorpions from time to time. And oh there are lotsa cicadas too....😄

I like d0gs but I don't like watching videos about d0gs. I feel like the algorithm has figured out that d0g lovers leave a lot of comments. I love all the countryside stuff, though, especially when you visit other houses. I like to imagine that I could do this one day but I don't think my wife would go for it.

Happy birthday to Pan-chan! Re my personal interests, they are gardening, cooking and Japanese crafts. What flowers have you planted? I remember lavender, azaleas and rhododendron, I think. Gardens, either for flowers or veggies, are a source of joy. And I hope you find the dream house you are looking for.

I am curious about why you are investing money in a home where you are just the renters, not the owners? In the US, it doesn't work like that. In fact, it is not legal to make changes (like adding a water heater) to a rental property that you don't own. As a renter, you will not get your investment in the property back. Or does your landlord reimburse you for improvements you make to the property?
