Life for me was pretty good when I was a kid, but like any other kid, I didn't always get the things I wanted. Now that I am an adult, and thanks to Ebay, Etsy, Etc.. I can easily have all of the things that the little kid in me still wants. The only problem is, these things are now as old and weathered as I am! But usually with the right tools, a good cleaning, some sand blasting, a little powder coating, and occasionally some small replacement parts these things can be as good as new! Welcome to my channel of restoration videos, where I take old tools, vintage Tonka Trucks, antique toys, and bring them back to life!

Which one is the best options
Hello out there ! Great job and work ! Noticed on some parts after the prtimer paint there was a awful lot of pitting , covering all pitted parts with Bondo ! Would have covered most of the areas Before actual dry paint and baking of parts .
just use vinegar ... ur welcome !
Hi. I noticed you used cleaning vinegar in your test. From what i understand perhaps a distilled white vinegar would be a better choice since its ph level is lower. Would you be willing to try it?
Hot sauce.
Perfect! Thank You!!!
The brand harris is got one of there products are foŕ rust and non toxic it good
This was not a restoration, it was a resurrection! Wow!!!
🤣🤣🤣 two weeks later getting the kid in the Coca-Cola.
so half your video is a paid sponsor spot - try to keep it under 25% - want to your workmanship not an advertisements - seems like this video had nothing to do with your work - all about the laser engraver - disappointing
Nice job. Saved me lots of time. Thank you for your service sir.
One of those was mounted outside my great uncles workshop when I was a kid late 60's
"Pimp my Tonka truck". LOL Nice work.
Best video EVER
You know him tooo?
Awesome video, Thank you! now consider part-2... which of these "cleaned" springs (in the future going forward) will rust most/first... so hang them up for like 12 months (same conditions) and lets see. I'll bet you will see many views, your consistent tests and same size samples are key!
Great Video! I use the HF Blaster like you pictured. When I do springs I pull apart with brake pliers to get at all the areas.
This was so well done! Would I be admitting I was a geek if I told you I watched from start to finish? ……. Twice 😝 thank you
a perfect video , thank you so saving me waste a bottle of coke .... citrus acid and electrolyte
I loved your comparisons of everyday items you probably already have at home to remove rust from small pieces. However, you didn’t show how to use on large items or items you can’t take apart. I have lawn art figures that have rusted and not sure how to tackle them. Any suggestions are welcome 😊
You missed the very best , which is TA-Daaa-- MOLASSES. Mix a gallon of Water to a pound of molasses and dissolve by agitation. Soak the metal parts for a couple of weeks/months and the rust just washes off back to bright steel snd most metals too. I use it on my cementing tools, rusty maintenance tools and 'found items. It doesn't harm wood or plastics either. For convenience I have a ten gallon beer maker barrel that I just dump stuff into as needed. When I have time on a weekend I remove the liquid into a drum to retrieve the steel, wash with the hose and give everything a quick wipe with a brillo pad or steelwool and then spray WD 40 for keeps. I reuse the molasses liquid for the better part of a year, adding a pint of extra molasses whenever. When I do decide to get rid of that brew, I have found it makes an excellent garden fertiliser when poured out of a watering can at 10:1 then watered into the lawn, soil and off the leaves. Molasses is ten bucks for 4 gallons at your local horse feed store. Bring your own drum.
great video!
So did the Muriatic acid start at 31% and you cut in in half with water, correct? So about 15%. Only took two hours? Thank you for the demonstration!
Ketchup is a cheater. It has vinegar in it.
My concern is what after effects some of these methods/chemicals have. I hear some can cause brittleness and other reactions. I see many using a wire brush to clean after soaking, where some say this causes grooves or something, that causes more rust. I think I'll go with the vinegar, wipe with a cloth, then lubricate with oil. The end.
you didnt mention ospho rust inhibitor. the best by far. google it , youll love it. stormyjoe
I have this same exact one that I’m trying to restore. I can’t find a tailgate for it and one wheel is broken.
Thank you for your efforts 🙏✊
I did not read all the comments but I have used black strap molasses in water at a 10;1 ratio. I used a wide mouth gallon glass jug poured the 12 oz of molasses in and fill the rest with water. Maybe a little slower than vapo-rust but it did the job. It is a chelation process. FYI, since molasses is a natural substance you will get a scum formed on the top of the water, just scoop it off. it's also biodegradable.
<Nodding head> useful information, especially for me, i live alongside a sea shore, and the maintenance on my galvanized trailers is very high, especially the boat trailer. I've just brought new ,replacing the old trailers. Things like springs and bolt heads show rust signs very early. Tools in the shed all need treatment and painting often. Thanks <Smiling> like & subscribed
What happened to the muriatic acid one lol
When i first see or heard a sand blaster in my life,,,,, oh its so powerful and it removes a rust easily, but how come it doesn't tear the gloves ? Or the hand.🤣🤣🤣.
Hi... Really impressed by the apple cider vinegar results. Does the brand matter? Or the concentration of the mixture in different brands?
Hcl and h2so4
You issed Muriatic acid on the before and after!!!
Beautiful Restore!!!
LSU Tigers. Geaux Tigers
CLR cleans a lot more than just rust. Three cleaners in one.
Did you had any "issue" after (few hours) the withdrawing of the item? I personnally had rust coming back about 1 hour after removal from vinegar.. is it normal?
Wouldn't Coke and Pepsi have the same result?
Amazing video! I think the potato trick is meant for running the rust away with the potato.
For ultrasonic cleaning, are you using Evapo-Rust at full strength or diluted? What is the optimum temperature? Thanks.
Trying to do one myself and can’t figure out how to get the top off without cracking the windshield
How warm water with citric acid?
With the right tools, anything is possible ...Nice job!
Coca Cola has low levels of phosphoric acid and it would require longer time before it takes off so much rust.
El molinillo mas bonito de KZread
1 oz phosphoric acid and a squirt of gelled hand cleaner. Small art brush and hook the ends of the spring to spread it just a bit. Paint and 12 hours later
