    If I had access to a TT-RS, I would have likely done just that. On the flip side, if you’re buying a brand new TT black edition with a specification similar to the TT in this video, you could easily get into a 718 Cayman…perhaps food for thought to many

    I like the Clubman. I wanted one but the good lady wanted the countryman. We compromised on a 2.0 countryman Cooper S with cooper works extras. And I think it’s better from a practicality point of view. And it’s still an excellent drive.

    You should review this for what it is… a manual box with automated clutch. This is a very reasonably priced car, adapting another gearbox for the 500 would not have made sense… At least there is an auto option for those who cant drive manually for whatever reason.

    In Australia, most of these issues wouldn’t occur due to the better weather, but there’s zero chance anyone would accept the exhaust clamp/fixings issue. As most people have suggested, most things can be done yourself to avoid these unnecessary costs and it appears that an independent Porsche specialist will maintain your car to the same standard, likely better, for far less.

    On first listen this sounds horrendous. But then when you watch it, what do you expect? If the disks and pads need replacing, they need replacing. They are wear and tear items. The washer needs fixing. Clearing the leaves, you can do yourself. And your exhaust is falling off. OK £1,200 for exhaust clamps is a right rip off, fair enough. But £2.5k+ of your £3.8k bill is fully to be expected.

    @commantrosexetlos4700 I did a comparison of a TTS versus a base 2.0 l Cayman and you can find similar prices, but the Cayman would be either high mileage or older. I guess the benefit of the Cayman is they hold value better, and have now been announced as discontinued so potentially are a good place to put your money (the same could be said for the TT that is in the same situation)

    @commantrosexetlos4700 I’d say if you want a sports car, and you need badge appeal then the Cayman does well. More people are looking at a Cayman than an M4. F Type is a good shout although arguably no where near as good to drive. Depends on what’s important.

    The TT is brilliant .fair enough the rear seats are not great . But tne Porsche hasnt got any . The porsche has two shoe boxes for you to put your golf clubs onto. If you can . Ive owned a TT for years ive thought about the Porsche from time to time but instantly dumped that idea.

    Okay I got my Audi TT 45 TFSI Quattro (5.1 sec 0-60) this week, to go with my 718 Boxster (4.9 sec 0-60) both automatic, both from 2019. My thoughts are the 718 wins in every way, you accelerate in the Porsche you have a big grin on your face for the next half minute, with the TT its just 'oh Im going fast'. Porsche is nicer inside just wins. However, I really like how the TT feels its a lovely solid car, I like being able to see the engine in the audi, also I cant take the Porsche 'to the shops' in many areas where i live but the Audi would be fine., its a better daily driver. The answer does seem to be own both!

  • @LifeInMotionuk
    @LifeInMotionuk3 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the comment. Exactly what we needed, someone that owns them both. It’s clear the 718 is more of what we all want from a sports car, but how important is practicality to you…

    Sounds like a flat-4, not a bad rumble. I think you have to accept the sound of the engine in your car. Not much point driving a boxter engine and preferring it to sound like a V8 and definitely not an EV. My ride is a bi-turbo diesel and I prefer it quiet and subtle. I would switch off any piped-in exhaust sounds.
