I think the auto industry pundits don't understand that most of us are only going to have one vehicle and a PHEV let's us have an EV daily driver that can also travel across county and tow your trailer. I've also been interested in the electrified trailers put out by Bowlus and being developed by Airstream and Pebble. With the tough travel trailer market since Covid, i wonder if the big RV makers are willing to invest $10,000 a trailer in electric propulsion.

I don't think it's just a luxury car thing. How much of a difference is there between a fully loaded Camry and the ES350. Does a $1,200 iPhone work that much differently than a good $600 competitor (putting aside OS). Differentiation will probably come down to design and experience both in and out of the car. Thanks for the thoughtful discussion. Cheers.

How about a 1939 Yellow Coach? The manufacturer was an offshoot of Yellow Cab that was bought by GM some time in the early 1940s. We used it as a camper; we bought it from its previous owners, Bill Haley and the Comets. Yes, the legendary Rock 'N' Roll Band! We never met any members of the band. We bought it through their manager, in 1960. I drove it in 1965, a year after I got my driver's license. It was a beast to drive: all shifts had to be double-clutched. No power steering. Powered by a Detroit Diesel 6-71. Acceleration 0-60 took about 2-1/2 minutes! Fuel consumption was 6-8 mpg on the highway, down to 2-3 gallons/mile in the mountains.

The issue you had with the first unit has been occurring a LOT. A user on Reddit dug into it and found that the thermistors are failing. The issue is that the $1 parts are buried in the unit and are not serviceable. It's likely that all units will fail this way with no good or easy repair possible. I'd 100% wait for a generation 2 with serviceable thermistors (like the Dometics have) or just get a cheap fridge and a Ecoflow River 2. Cheaper anyway and likely just as functional and you get LiFe type batteries. This sucks because it's a good size and has the right feature set and the price (at the currently reduced sales price) is reasonable. But if it's just going to fail, which I suspect nearly all of them will until they address the hardware issue, this can't be recommended.

The only issue is size. I still prefer this one because of the flexibility and size.
