    This is cool. I’ve always read that milk needs to be pasteurized for yogurt or it will be runny like middle eastern yogurt. But yours definitely looks like thick Greek yogurt. I get my raw milk from Jersey cows too so I’ll give it a try. The same farm makes their own yogurt but it’s pasteurized and runny and sour. If I can make my own raw milk yogurt it would save lots of money and hopefully taste better/be healthier.

    Wait, so after you put the paste on and let it sit, then do you wash it in the washer? Then what? Do you use a cold setting? You didn’t explain what you do next.

    I just wash it like I’d normally wash that particular piece or clothing. . Use a cold setting if you normally would. Wash it on delicate if it is a delicate, etc.

    Everyone says that you should put sourdough out before you go to bed, but if I do that by morning, mine has risen and fell and isn't active anymore. Mine is usually ready in 2 to 4 hours. Any ideas why it's ready so fast?

    Hi there just came across your video thank you for all the tips you sharing… I am getting ready to do my own. Would you be kind enough to share your thoughts on using beef dripping instead, where I am based right now seams impossible to find tallow. I was just wondering if beef dripping could have same positive effects as beef tallow. Many thanks in advance!

  • @RoughandTumbleFarmhouse
    @RoughandTumbleFarmhouse7 күн бұрын

    Hi there sorry for a late reply! I think beef drippings MIGHT have similar benefits. The biggest drawback I would see is it would be very "beefy". Tallow is rendered at low temperatures, slowly removing the fat solids from the meat/muscle/gristle, vs if you are collecting drippings that you cooked, I think it might smell a lot like a pot roast. Which hey might not be a bad perfume depending on who you are trying to attract. 😆

    I am obsessing over rhubarb and rhubarb simple syrup! It's so sweet and beautiful and pink! I didn't have time to strain mine last night so I put full pot in refrigerator overnight and result was AMazingly bright, deep, stunning pink. I use with equal parts in ice tea- it's delicious. I always save the pulp (freezes nicely) and add it to many things-- one time I added it last minute into pot roast and it was so sweet and subtle and is now a go-to for our pot roast. Rhubarb truly an underutilized snd under appreciated hidden gem🩷

    I am dealing with this problem as we speak. I have been very lucky in that my flock has always been very healthy. I have not ever dealt with a lice or mites problem before, until now that is. Our chickens do free range most of the day. I'm assuming that's where they picked it up. We already had some DE on hand and I used it as soon as I discovered that one of our birds had lice. I treated the hen that I found it on that night and then treated the rest of the flock the very next day. This has only been within the last couple of days for me. I am getting ready to go clean out my coops as we speak. I have four to clean out & I'm really dreading it. I have already sprinkled DE all over the coops, the nesting boxes, and the roosting bars. I used 7 dust on the one hen that has had it, I guess for a while, because she has started to lose some feathers. She had gone broody a short while ago and was in one of our larger nesting boxes, so I did not bother her while she was sitting on eggs. When she was done being broody, I noticed that she was bald on her breast area, but I thought it was just from her sitting on her eggs for so long because she only got up a few times to take a dust bath then went right back to her eggs. I have had issues with wild birds flying into the coops when the doors are open, so I'm guessing that's where she the lice. However, on closer inspection, they are in the large nesting box where she went broody. I ordered some Elector PSP which will be here tomorrow. It is a bacteria that consumes the lice and eggs as far as I know. It is a one treatment and done sort of thing, but it is very expensive. It is safe & it is not necessary to mask up while treating the flock. It does not say that it is for lice on the bottle- just mites, but it works for both. It is strictly a money game for the reason it is not labeled on the bottle from what I understand. The only place I've been able to find it is online, so it's best to have it on hand when you need it because if you wait till you need it you'll have to wait for it to be delivered. It is $160 for about a quart size jug but it is very concentrated. You only mix 9 or 10 mL of concentrate to 1 gallon of water, put it in a spray bottle, and spray your chickens under the wings, the vent, & between the feathers. I learned about the Elector PSP through Bock Bock Bouquet's KZread channel. Sorry for such a long comment. I just wanted to tell you my experience and what I know. Thank you for the video. It was very helpful. Sending smiles over to you from Georgia.
