Declutter Your Life with Tonia
Declutter Your Life with Tonia
Are you ready to learn how to let go, get back into your natural rhythm and reconnect to your passion, power and purpose!
I support and guide you in letting go of the parts of your past that keep you stuck, stressed and overwhelmed. My process allows you to let go so you can get back into your power, feel calm, clear and more confident.
What’s in your backpack? We all have clutter in our lives, especially if we don’t take the time to unpack our backpack of life and become aware of what’s no longer needed. I’ve been doing inner exploration for over 20 years and found that we get stuck and trapped in our past, preventing us from creating in the present moment.
Who says that “inner work” always has to be hard, stressful or scary. Why not look at life as play, fun and a way to be curious about all the possibilities. With the right guidance, support and direction it can be an experience that you enjoy!

One of the main reasons for clutter and hoarding is non-mental illness related disability. You need to differentiate between these causes before you start telling people to do inner work. Disabled people need material support and accommodation and have already been pathologized enough about how our issues are our own fault because we didn't try hard enough. We LITERALLY need to change the environment and what's outside, NOT what's inside. It's the entire key to sustainable change. I did not have the support or accommodations I needed and my house was messed up because of it. I started to get my needs met by outside changes and now my house is clean. Be careful what you tell people
I realized that much of my clutter comes from past with having my space stolen from me. The clutter serves to protect my space.
@rosieE121 High five for your realization! Now you have opened a door to the freedom that awaits you :)
@@declutteryourlifewithtonia it is a big step. I think that next step may be to find a better way to keep my space. Seems so hard. Put up "no trespassing" sign in my living room?

interrupting ads… wont use it again
Can’t take the background music😢 it gives me a headache
Nothing worse than doing a meditation than when ad interrupts it!!
@cindymeredith Thanks for letting me know! I looked into it and unfortunately I can't change it yet and will once the function is available on my channel.
i love your calm voice and approach. My anxiety just decreased and finally i have found someone who understands. I have started my decluttering and organizing journey and I cannot get over "something". This video was life changing and I will be watching the rest of your videos.
Oh Kierstin, this warms my heart! Thank you so much for sharing, this is why I created this channel. To give people different options to get to the core of why they are holding on so they can be free to live in the present moment. Keep me posted with how things go :)
❤ I was stuck on a negative thought spiral about colleagues and social media. Talking to my husband and a good night sleep helped. It was good to recognize it and express my feelings.
Sleep is a great reset and so is sharing and getting the support you need! Thank you for sharing your experience of getting unstuck.

Hey Tonia, just wanted to say your content is really helpful and amazing, and i resonate a lot with it. Thanking you for the value and healing from your amazing work.
Hi Patrick, thank you so much for sharing and you are so welcome, it's my pleasure and passion! I'm so glad that it is so helpful on your healing journey!!!! I have some great topics coming up that will help around staying in ventral vagal that goo beyond simple nervous system exercises.
@@declutteryourlifewithtonia Sounds good Tonia. Hopefully this channel grows and more people can reach your work. Your presence is calm and soothing.
I love your channel. Thanks. Glad I found it. ❤
I'm so happy to hear that, it means a lot. I'm glad it's resonating with you :)
Decluttering absolutely works. Go watch Dana K White, and change your incorrect title.
You might want to watch the whole series from this playlist starting with why therapy doesn't and get a better sense of the overall message and approach.
You can declutter and declutter and it will come back. As Max Paxton says from Hoarders, first therapy. Then ppl can heal and not keep going back to the same patterns.
@@kierstinl3787 Thank you Kierstin! This is why I take a holistic approach. When I started 10 years ago, each week I went back to a clients the mess was there again. It only goes away unless you get to the root of why it's there.
She is speaking so low, or volume is so low, that it is stressful to listen.
Going to try this.
Great! Let me know how it goes.
After 6 decades one gets set and trapped in their ways. That was me. I have had the great fortune of personally working with Tonia and even the stubborn me sees changes that are life altering. What greater investment in ones own self can you make than by investing, no matter it be time, money or energy. It takes time but , like altering the body, re-calibrating time management and de-cluttering, changes for the better will happen.
Thank you for sharing! Change can be very challenging especially when we are so used to being and doing things in a certain way. I'm glad that you are seeing the benefits with your commitment to change, grow and being open to something new!
your video is too low for volume. I checked; its not my system.
Hello, I've been keeping an eye on your KZread Channel and I'm genuinely impressed by your achievements
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I Just Want to point out that when you' Say "this Is not a meditation, because you' are really present and aware, you' are not trying to relax", you are actually saying what real meditation Is about. Meditation Is in fact awareness of oneself, presence, observation of whatever sensations might arise in the body without judging.
This is very true, focusing adds another aspect where you are in relationship with something that wants your attenetion. I highly recommend reading Eugene Gendlin book on focusing.
Really like your decluttering approach. Still new but so far so good
Thank you!
I found your channel this morning and I really resonate with the way you explain. Did you make any video on how to give back the shame to the perpetrator? I really need to give back a lot of shame… Thank you!
Thank you so much for the feedback AND for the idea. I actually didn't do a video on this and would be happy to. I'll make and note and do my best to do it soon.
@AndreeaT3003 check out this video for now. Giving back the shame can be done indirectly as well. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooKVuqiqlLiTaMo.html

What community?
This is beautiful!
Thank you. It was a very touching thing to witness.
I have a friend who is such a sweetheart that I love spending time with, but who often wants to meet in a store( except for one time when we went to a museum). I find that I wind up buying something every time that I see her and spend money that I don't really have to spend. She always mentions that she is a "bad influence", because she tells me that I "should have" whatever I am looking at.Yesterday when we met, I set my intentions beforehand that I wanted a clean and uncluttered home and that I have everything that I need. I wound up window shopping with her and I didn't spend a dime, but still had an amazing time. I have been an on and off minimalist for 15 years, but someone who always allows to clutter to creep back in so I am so glad that I found your channel, as it will keep me honest and allow me to be cognisant of my behaviors that keep allowing my home to become cluttered agin.
Thanks for sharing your story! It's a great example of noticing a pattern, setting a boundary and finding a new way to approach the same situation. High five! Now see what other patterns you notice that will help you let go of the clutter, even see what you notice in your body when it comes up along with the thoughts and beliefs.
This is such an amazing video.Thank you SO much!
Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback and glad it's helpful.
Could you expound on what you mean by seeing if that matches? 8:25 Also, asking yourself - what is that whole thing around ‘my friend’? Meaning, that could be an example of the trauma you’re connecting with? Or friend - meaning the part of your body that’s asking for attention? 7:26
@Llorali thanks for the great questions! I'll do my best to explain in message form. SEEING IF THERE IS A MATCH: - is when you've connected with something inside of you, something that came up when you thought about a particular problem OR decided to sit and see what came up and wanted to be looked at (given attention to) - THEN you try to describe this something that you notice - once you describe it, you check to see if it matches the felt sense ie. you feel something in your chest when you think about work. Then you describe it as tightness and compressing and see if that matches the felt sense around work - when there is a match to what you are experiencing and how you describe it you may feel an aha moment, a physical/energy shift or nothing other than yes, that's right
@Llorali for the other questions What is that whole things around 'my friend'? - the part of the video that you referenced I was referring to how you connect with what is showing up in that moment. You sit with what is there without trying to change it, keeping it company as a companion or how a friend would sit with you - if want to ask yourself "what is that whole thing around my friend", yes this is a great example to connect with a trauma and see what the body is ready to tell you AND what part of you needs attention. Let me know if that helps clarify:) -
Thanks for your suggestion
Important subject but your background music is so loud and your whispering voice is not comprehensible at all. Sad!
Just get yourself past the first 30 sec and you’ll be fine
Ok, double thanks to both of you. I'll be sure to put the music lower in the next video. I have a new mic and still trying to figure out the best set up. Thanks for the feedback!
No music is much better. Music not needed. Your voice is enough. Good video, thanks.
This is really beautiful Ty so much for freely sharing this. Somatics is giving me my life back.
Thank you! I hear you on that and so glad it's changing your life!!!!
For the last few weeks I have reduced my personal belongings by fifty percent and I became aware of the issue when I had to unexpectedly move. I'm so glad for the internet and the sense of community that there is. I grew up the poor kid and I called it poverty trauma cause I didn't know what else to call it and I didn't know there was such a thing because because this behavior has been normalized by the older generations that taught me. I knew that just getting rid of stuff was not gonna fix the problem because It wasn't the stuff in my way that was the problem. It was why was it there to be in my way in the first place. I've noticed as I shed off the old knee that there is so much resistance when I talk about this subject to certain people. I'm doing all this because it has brought so much happiness and I cannot imagine my life without this happiness that I have felt in the last few weeks. More so I could not imagine going through my life and only discovering this happiness when it is too late and leaving it for someone else to clean up when I'm gone.
Hi Justin, thanks so much for sharing your experience and high five for your awareness and challenging the beliefs you grew up with! And for seeing the why behind why you were holding onto things. I see so many things for you to celebrate in what you shared, including moving through resistance and not leaving a mess behind for others. Taking charge in this way will continue to bring you happiness and drive you to what you want to create in your life now!
Thanks, Tonia.
You are very welcome!
Thank you Tonia ❤
@PeggyVandePlassche You're very welcome!
Therapy is not just "talking". I agree that talking alone doesn't help. As a psychotherapist, EFT practitioner, energy coach, yoga teacher I can bring my relevant modalities into a session. So the therapy works depending on which therapist you choose to work with. ;-)
this is extremely helpful!
I'm so glad! Thank you for the feedback. Stay tuned for the next video that will expand on one of the techniques I mentioned. :)
at 77 i have found that the only thing that helped me was feeling hurt and letting it come out and i have seen me on my knees in my living room holding my stomach in pain i was crying so hard,, THAT IS WHAT WORKS and the really smart poeple will tell you the same things, LAUGHTER AND CRYING are two best medicines in the world, therapist like marriage councillors are a joke, they are there to suck your money, after a year of crying and releasing all the hurt i felt i was a new being with a different outlook on life, i still have times when i will put on some music that brings out the hurt and i will cry for 10-15 minutes and then i feel fine, self healing is what works not paying someone to get bored and take your money
Hi Edward, I'm so glad that you found a way to process, heal and release your past!!! I've met people who had similar experiences and shared how it changed them. I've also met people and had clients whom being alone made things worse for their healing process. Finding the right fit is key because there is definitely no one size fits all.
Amazing video!!!!! So many trues exposed here! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing. It's important to understand why things don't work and what you can do instead that will help you move in the direction you want to go in.
Yes!!! This is such an important video. Thank you for speaking to this topic! I have a 45 minute EFT Tapping basic tutorial and many Yoga Nidra (and other Yoga) sessions on my KZread channel: youtube.com/@theyinlounge?si=q1vwAH9dkxjl0xne 🩷❤️🧡
What do you think about Somatic Experience and Peter Levine?
It's a wonderful technique! Focusing is very similar to it and I look forward to being formally trained in somatic experiencing once I complete my training with focusing.
When is it time to learn to have friends? I don't trust anyone right now, even people who say they are trying to help. Too often they have an agenda of there own and it's not what I want to do with my life
This is something that happens slowly when we don't trust. It can happen with a professional, a friend or even with a pet animal. Finding a way to reconnect with others is fundamental to healing and it's finding the best way for you. All the best!
I thought the same thing, but then also I had to admit, that it is because ppl don't do/behave how I want them to. My expectations didn't match reality and that is what hurt me, not them necessarily. There are still ppl who help wholeheartedly, I know because I do, when I see someone in need/feel sorry for someone. BUT I will end my help ASAP when I sense ppl using me / continue to stay /do whatever brought them into the miserable situation. It is not because I have an agenda, but self-protection. Also it won't help them and I can't change them nor won't I. So I assume there are others like that, trying their best and being empathetic to a certain degree. If we don't try to trust we will end up only trusting our pets😂 it is what I currently do, haha, and my husband. But I know I am slowly healing and need to be humble about my own faults and the disappointment I might have been to others. We all have. It was THEIR expectations that missed my understanding. Many misunderstandings and arrogance will add up to this. In German a disappointment is called a 'de - deception' / de-illusion' it is actually a GOOD thing!😂 We have in combined with pain and tears when it should free us and be helpful. I can so relate to you, but I will work on it. Still love animals more than ppl 😂😂😂
@@Rudelherz Thank you for sharing your experience. Expectations can definitely get in the way of things and tuning into what you need can help. All the best continuing to build your trust with others and focusing on not changing others 😀
Great information. I'm trying to listen on my laptop with volume at max and the audio is too low, especially with the soft, almost whisper life talking.
Thanks for the feedback! I got a new mic and still seeing what the best set up is. I'll look into it more for the next video.
I really wish that therapist stop talking in "letters" like EMDR ...etc.Explain what the words means would be great. Just saying ...for ignorant people like me🙄
Thanks for letting me know!!! I'm actually going to do more video's on different methods and will be sure to explain the meanings and how they work in more detail. EMDR stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
Because they are brainwashed
@puigchinet - *you* must be self-accountable to move forward and grow. Don't know what an acronym or phrase means? Look it up for yourself; don't burden others with the *steps you need to take to achieve self knowledge. I do; it works.
I think 'EMDR looking at finger' doesn't work either and is placebo effect or snake oil. This psychotherapist explains why kzread.info/dash/bejne/go6h2M1sYMqwdbQ.html
This is amazing thanks this needs more views
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Why would you say that therapy does not work?
Hi Simona, thanks for your comment. This title is based on Eugene Gendlin's research on why therapy doesn't work. I'll be doing more video's on his work and his technique called focusing. I also reference that talk therapy alone does't work and specialized trauma therapy techniques are most effective. See chapter "what therapies do work"
I love it!
Your argument is really appreciated
Thank you for the great content but PLEASE could you use a microphone- ALL your videos are not easily audible-thanks
Hi Paul, thanks for the feedback! I use a mic and will look into options to improve the sound.
