Dude your video just opened up a world of possibilities for my proyect. Look, I'm making a single seater rally car with mid engine from scratch. The idea is basically the result of a Formula car having a baby with a baja buggy. Now, I would like to use an automatic or DSG transaxle and an LS engine for this, but I fear breaking the gearbox or simply being unable to have it running independently from the rest of the vehicle. Chassis, suspension, brakes, etc. All of that is no problem, my issue here is the transaxle with a 360hp to 425hp v8 engine attatched to it and working in stand alone mode. How do I make it happen? If you have any resources or give me a general direction to walk it would be amazing. I'm not gonna spend the moneh needed for a c8 corvette transaxle from tremec cuz that is insane money for me.
Great video. Starting work on our 944 that has sat for 15 years
Great vid. Did you do anything to support the engine before the torque tube came out? Not sure if it’s necessary. Thanks.
❤❤❤ Мне жаль , что Пакарды прервались в 1958г.. Уникальный бренд!!! Ваша машина красивая! 2х цветная краска 🎉🎉🎉
Great information! I'm in the process of build a 1.8t stroker on 06A block. I'll be using the 2.0T FSI crank with aftermarket rods. I was wondering which 2.0Tf factory forged pistons would work with this build? Boring and honing is not a problem. I really don't want to drop $1k on aftermarket pistons, especially since I won't be making the power most of them are rated for. Thanks!
The only American car with 4-wheel torsion bar. Chrysler was front only, and no load lever. Oh, the trans: part of the development cost was for a lockup torque converter, almost 30 years ahead of Detroit - and they were MADE IN DETROIT! Slow ratio steering, but you could steer with a single finger, no power assist. 26-1/2 quart cooling system capacity - over 6.5 gallons! A few years back, a hot-rodded 374 Packard made for the Engine Masters series produced almost 450 (later 475) HP on the dyno. Impressive. Dad had a red/black '55 Clipper Custom Constellation, 2-door hardtop.
I LOVE IT TOO❤❤❤!!!! -from an old 3 '49 Packards owner.
Will this information translate over to the 2.0t FSI ? Thanks.
Basics yes, details no. The 2.0t has more headroom than the 1.8t bone stock.
I dealt with self adjusting pressure plate for the 1st time this past weekend.... After watching a few videos and with limited tools, i eventually used only the park bench lol... Yes park bench in my yard that had thick wooden seat.... Placed the pressure plate on top with 3 x same size small sockets evenly placed under the outer edge of the cover of the plate.... Centered it in the gap between the seats, long thickish bolt from underneath pressing against the bottom of the seat, old bearing , washer on top with nut and turned the nut with my wrench..... Once i found the sweet spot moved the pin anticlockwise, held it in the reset position opposite the marked colored dots on the cover while releasing pressure... Job done 😊 ...... No need for the flywheel and clutch plate to be present
Watched this, then thought.... strings, how 2020, it's 2024 and I got a pair of lasers. Lined the laser levels up 6in from rear hubs, turned them so they same from front hub and it worked great. Used it to measure camber and caster too since it projects a nice vertical plane.
Fantastically great video!! Thank you for taking the time to show us your knowledge. When I went to school for this, I was taught how to do an alignment without the machine before I was taught how to do it with a machine. That was a long time ago with no Internet. Lol. Thank you again for the great work that you are doing.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 I need your info
I had an S3 18T AMK. iIts reliable and with stock turbo you can make over 280hp easily. ECU stage 1 is basic. They are running pretty dry (fuel/air ratio) and they usually broke headers/turbo because of that
Mmm, Simply DeLuxe! 💋 Thank you for sharing your fine Clipper.
What Transaxle are you running with that much power?
930
Does anyone modify their sumps to work better? I think I almost damaged my motor going down a very long steep hill. Great video 3 years later. 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀😎☮️
I’ve seen dry sumps, but not anyone really going with a high flow pump. I’m sure that’s possible but it’s just not done much. Check with the road race groups to see if anyone has determined a need for it.
@@budgetoutlaws9978 I was more thinking about adding a box around the oil pickup, that incorporates trapdoors. I have this kind of setup in my old school ford 1600 crossflow engine. Definitely need to research this more. Thank you very kindly for your reply. 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀😎☮️
@@stevesloan6775 there are a few different OEM windage trays available for the 1.8 that do a great job of keeping the oil where it needs to be. That is where I would start.
It's a beautiful car! What might have been...
I think you failed to mention the G50 transaxle in this video. They came in the 87-later 911’s. I owned both a 84 and 85 with the 915 transaxle. I honestly prefer the 915 transaxle over the G50, but if I was running the type 4 I would go with a 901 with a dogleg 1st gear.
Anybody have idea the casted crankshaft limit? I have AVJ engine code ,i think is casted, but did seen this code in the list
I'm pretty sure that's a journal bearing turbo. Could a missed something but I thought ball bearing turbos needs a press to R/R. adding a restrictor to a journal bearing turbo is not a good idea.
i would love to buy it is it for sale?
Excellent breakdown. Easy to understand the steps needed to reach your HP goal.
What the heck so your tellin me I could have had a buddy sit in the driver seat push the clutch and done this through my bell hosing inspection hole? Heh ain’t no way!
Such an incredible video. Straight and to the point.
Well done. Going to check on this rt now
Why doesn't it come preset from factory this is insane lol thaught there wasn't a way to do it without the tool
New ones should be reset. But if you pull off a pressure plate and put a new disk in or something else you need to reset the pressure plate.
Since I'm in love with my '83 model, I'd say 'KEEP IT'! Except for the lack of power steering (which makes it hard to get out of the driveway), I love driving it and the way it handles.
The Puck was still good ,,,every time i go up in mOds i have Eric at Kennedy Engineering Beef up the Pressure Plate and all that i want mine was as good as your probably more worn Eric and Mr Lanzatella said i didn't need it but i bought a new one anyways putting out alotta Torque Dan 2 years late but at work at 7am in the Morning and your video PoPeD uP ,,,,.hope your still Building and Having fun ,,,its what we do RiiiighT . Blessings to you and your Beautiful Family
How much do you charge to build a 600hp for a 03 1.8t jetta just an estimate??
I think he touched the shifter twice. I guess an automatic transmission might be just as good.
Beautiful Car, i have a 56 Packard Clipper Super Coupe here in England UK
i like a 914 v8
Is oem crank forgeg?
It's dependent upon which engine code you have. Read the pinned post, as there's a link to a detailed list of engine codes and specifications.
Great video.
Gentlemen, I am truly impressed by both your vehicles. You are very lucky to be experiencing a father/son bond such as this, regardless of mechanical issues. I wish my father and I had this kind of fun. Be happy, be healthy, and live your best life. If you are Christian, we're all sinners, repent and talk with the Lord often. You'd be surprised how many car issues the Almighty has been able to solve, when asked.
Sounds like your navigator is an opinionated mule? Wait a minute, there's no co driver/ navigator in drag racing? Whats all that chatter going on?
Nice video, thank you!
This is the way I started in cars. Only without the porsche. 45 years ago. Boy, that's a long time ago, now that I say it. Enjoy your youth. It's the main event.
Great video, do you have a link to the video about turbos and boost controllers?
Love ur vids man much appreciated
Perfect video for planning a build, thank you.
Thanks so much! I am planning to go for 300bhp...seemingly a piece of cake 🎉😊
Excellent video.
Thanks man!
I just got a MK4 1.8t. I’m so excited about tuning it . Going to start from foundation
Thanks for the kind comments. Thanks for the suggestion Jieiku1325. I reloaded the Budget Outlaws website to a free hosting service that will house the alignment spreadsheet as well as other info. The website name is CHANGED to budgetoutlaws.great-site DOT net the spreadsheet is on the downloads page. There is a direct link in the description. Yeah I didn't come up with the great-site thing, it was the only free option that made sense.
Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that the link no longer seems to be working. I was wondering if you could re-upload the excel file again. The video was really helpful, thanks so much!
I love to go through the gears with a V-8 in one... I like the way the 914s hug the road, just like jelly around the curves... They were so affordable back in the day... They were way ahead of their time...
They still are a fantastic analog driving experience, especially with some power!
What an absolutely gorgeous car. Love the fantastic paint job. You're a very lucky guy owning such a cruiser.
Is the o6A in the mk4 ? And the o58 mk3?
Does anyone have a copy of the spreadsheet? The link no longer works.
Hi, Sorry we had to let the website go. If you send me an email to [email protected] I can send you a copy. Thanks for the interest.
@@budgetoutlaws9978 Thank you, I sent you an email, also I am wondering if it might be a good idea to upload the spreadsheet to someplace like google spreadsheets, I could do that for you if you wanted? Then it would be available online for free for all :)
@@jieiku I'm looking for a solution. If you know of a place that has no monthly costs please let me know. You should have the spreadsheet in your email inbox. Thanks Dan
@@budgetoutlaws9978 Thank you, I got the spreadsheet, if you have a google account you can upload the spreadsheet straight there, it is free and you can share it publicly www.google.com/sheets/about/
@@jieiku Thanks But I got off my duff and found a free site to upload the Budget Outlaws website to.
