Hi, I’m Athena or 小禾/Xiaohe, which literally translates to “seedling” in Chinese. Here I chat about my knitting & crochet & sewing projects, often from Japanese patterns or my own designs/modifications. I work part time during the weekends at my local yarn store, Wet Coast Wools, located in Vancouver, Canada. Hope you enjoy my contents!

Beautiful dress! Thank you for taking us along with you on the journey and it was very lovely to see your grandmother.
Very nice good job 👍👍
Just beginning something from KAF... for my GGrandbaby... having trouble deciding... your show is helping!
Hi Athena! I found your podcast through your beautiful Vine tee pattern, which I want to make! (It will be my first sweater...). I just need to order the Sandnes Line yarn. I'd love to see you feature more Japanese designers! I love Japanese design. I'm not as familiar with Chinese designers. My primary problem with Asian pattern books is that the patterns are too small. My bust is about 50", and many of those patterns aren't size inclusive.
Thank you! Yes, Japanese patterns are mostly designed for average Japanese women’s size, but there is a trend for becoming more inclusive. Check out Michiyo’s 4 size knitting (Japanese pattern book).
This video was helpful as I am finishing a fair isle vest!
What a wonderful episode! You inspired me to start on my knitted animal friends. Nice meeting you 😊 warm greetings from the Netherlands 👋
Thank you! Greetings!
i cant take my eyes off the first sweater you're wearing 😍
This gauge tip was brilliant! Thank you 😮
Thank you so much for these tips. I’m originally from Japan but just getting into Japanese knitting.
Holy shit, WOWWWWW!!! Absolutely beautiful work omfg 😮 (also sooo smart to make a swatch and make a pocket out of it ahh!) congratulations on all your hard work and success! Your channel is gunna grow so huge! You deserve it to ❤

So nice dear... I m ur new subscriber ❤
Thanks and welcome!
The dress is beautiful, and you look lovely. All the best for your future together.
I love how you change patterns to fit/suit you. That’s what people used to do when making a garment. You are so exuberant about your knitting. I admire your straightforward comments. Lovely podcasts/vlogs/sharings. Thank you
I’ve been y to shed the chains of the patriarchy, not quite as successfully as you are! I’m delving into your back catalogue of podcasts and enjoying them very much !
Happy catching up with my earlier videos!
Congratulations on all the wonderful things that you have recently achieved!
Hello and respect to Grandmother ❤ Your dress turned out spectacular❣️😍 You looked wonderful in it, and the Birkenstocks, too❣️💐
Thank you so much!
Congratulations on the promotion and the new house! I appreciate you sharing you designs in a way that allow others to build up and expand their skills as knitters! Speaking of TV knitting, you have to watch "Will Trent", it is a very good show, and his female partner detective has the best knitwear ever, especially vests.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Congratulations on your new home and your promotion! Your cardigan is gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
Butifulll job
Your sweater is fantastic, and the yarn certainly fits the design. Congratulations on your new position!
Thank you so much!
Enjoyed this video so much - will try your beautiful designs. Please keep the designs coming! Bonus that you are from the Lower Mainland!! Have subscribed and big thumbs up.
Thank you! Will do!
How wonderful to hear that you are enjoying your job so much & got a promotion too 😃 Congratulations on your new home, and have fun decorating your crafting area 🏡Happy travelling & we will see you when you next get some free time to film 🤗
Thank you Susan! 🥰
You are an amazing pattern writer/creator for such a new knitter! Keep it up! 🧶😊❤️
Thank you! Will do!
Your cardigan is stunning ! You are a very talented and inspirational young woman !
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I really like your approach and I am sure I will use your idea for my knittings. I also like only charts, I do not like any descriptions, it's too long and complicated to understand sometimes what the author wants. Get cosmetics in Korea, they are really good.
Thank you!
Very, very talented to be able to see a sweater and then create a pattern for it!
Best wishes....dress looks fantastic
Gorgeous
Gorgeous knit
Athena I truly enjoy all of your videos. You are a very compassionate person and are extremely creative. I'm wishing you a wonderful trip home and congratulations on obtaining a new position as well as your new home. 😍
Thank you so much!🥰
I like the Japanese patterns too and I don’t speak Japanese, but love diagrams and charts and have used a cheat sheet that helped me translate some of the key words I needed…. I look forward to checking out your pattern
That’s great!
I really enjoy your podcast, thank you for putting it together. I'm really happy to hear about how well your job is going 😊
Thank you! 😊
Hello, Athena! The cardigan looks so beautiful. I bought the pattern and I want to try if it's possible to knit it in one piece. Greetings from bavaria/germany! Anneliese
Hi there! Definitely you can! You can join in the round from below the underarm, but personally I find knitting this cable pattern flat makes more sense (only cabling on WS, easier to keep track). It’s all up to you!
Thank you very much! I'll try❤
Darling don’t worry about season. Australia now is very cool all your knitting is perfect for us
That’s so true! Thanks for the reminder!
Love your tv knitting! I have wanted to make both Logan’s sweater & Tristan’s vest! And congratulations!!!
Thank you! That’s great to hear!
Have great trip I love your cabled cardigan you are very talented gifted Congratulations on your new home Can’t wait to hear about your travels
Hi Athena , I am so happy for you so exiting that you are doing great! love to see all your house projects. have a great trip.
Thank you so much!
congrats on the job and the new house! safe travels
Thank you!!
You are a very clever and generous knitter!
13:48 you could try to find a matching fabric (yellow or beige) and sew it under the knitted fabric as a see through protection - just at the lace part.
Great idea! I’ll try this!
@@SeedlingStitch happy to hear/ read. Have a save travel. Congrats to your house.
ps. I'm doing ACT therapy too. Thanks for the book recommendation
I’m glad to hear! I think it’s an excellent approach to life!
Your cardigan is wonderful. I don't think I have the skill level to make it yet but I really like it and the approach you took to make it.
Have a great trip to China! Looking forward to seeing more of your lovely grandma 🤩
There are rings that help holding more than one yarn at the same time. Maybe this is helping you to knit these stunning socks.
I’ve actually tried it, but I couldn’t control the tension properly!
Thank you so much for your beautiful patterns! I already have basically all of them saved 😂 I really appreciate the knitting charts and schematics rather than a lot of written detail. I've crocheted for years and have always found following a chart to be easier.
Oh thank you 🥰
Travel safe and looking forward to seeing your new projects including your new home. Thank you for sharing the wisdom gained from your therapy the book looks worth reading
Gorgeous! 😍
Simple, yet so classy & stylish. U r sooo talented! 👍🩷💕
