    If you are going to dress up as a soldier of the period, particularly assuming three stripes, you should get the weapon handling right. I was trained to use sten gun as a National Serviceman 70 years ago. One of the first rules was to fit the magazine with a firm push, which is all that is needed. Banging the end after you have pushed it in and felt it click is not only totally unnecessary but also dangerous as it risks dislodging the first round which then jams the weapon so it won’t fire.

  • @thra5herxb12s
    @thra5herxb12s6 күн бұрын

    Thank you for your advice but this isn't a real Sten gun and the magazines are a very poor fit so some need a good whack to get them in while others fit as you say they should.

    One of my sisters lived down Mount Pleasant on the bend just before the Wheatsheaf there's a path that trail riders used to use. My other sister who still lives in Crowborough is giving me a lift 2 weex from tomorrow to Groombridge's at Cross In Hand where I'll pick up a Classic 350 so maybe I'll have a look at riding those byways.

    Good. I told a mate I was now putting e10 in my 2021 Kawasaki and he said I really shouldn’t. O ring damage would happen. If e10 was damaging newer o rings, it’d be visible by now on this test.

  • @thra5herxb12s
    @thra5herxb12s14 күн бұрын

    There's a lot of misinformation regarding E10, and even if it did contain the full 10%, it would still be very dilute. Of course there are those that will say it's continuous wetting and drying that causes the rubber to perish, but most O rings have been made from Viton for many years, which is highly resistant to ethanol. My test was not truly scientific, but it did show that nothing bad happened.

    Brilliat content! I have 1954 Red Hunter and it starterd smoking heavily. What could be reason for that? Piston and rings are ok. Could it be oil pump gasket or something else? Greetings from Finland.

  • @thra5herxb12s
    @thra5herxb12sАй бұрын

    Hello. It's possible you have a dirty oil pump return that might be slowing down the scavenge back to the tank. Any excess oil in the engine will continue to fly around and can get past the rings. Clean out the pump and the gauze strainer in the sump plate to make sure they are clean, and also make sure the oil pipe in the sump plate is free from sludge as this can reduce its diameter over time and also reduce the return rate. It is also possible for oil to enter the inlet valve guide and into the cylinder if your guides are badly worn. Start with the easiest thing first 👍

  • @thra5herxb12s
    @thra5herxb12sАй бұрын

    There is no gasket for the cases. It has a spigot to locate them in line and just a thin smear of ultra grey sealant. Before the sealant has set, temporarily fit the cylinder and tighten it to align the top face, and then the 3 tie bolts can be fully tightened.

    I have had my experience with this horrible road, Well, it might be hard taking a motorbike up there, but how about a car?! This incident happened probably due to a cheap satnav sending us up this TRACK! we got about halfway and our car Front wheels lifted off the ground, this cause the car to fall backwards quite quickly, after that happened, we had to reverse the whole way back down! While we were reversing down, some people were walking up the track, and told us that it was blocked off at the top.. So even if we did keep going, it was blocked off.. There was a closed road sign at the bottom of the road, but it seem to have fallen over, so we decided to ignore it.! The car is going to its MOT check soon... Hopefully there's nothing wrong with it!! Horrible experiences with this road!!! P.S. - don't buy cheap satnav's I also found a numberplate on the side of the track.. it came off a blue Volkswagen I think, I wonder what happened?

  • @thra5herxb12s
    @thra5herxb12sАй бұрын

    The sat navs only take you to the end of Lower Warren Road as far as the last house, where the tarmac suddenly ends and the mud track begins. I'm surprised you got so far before you noticed it wasn't a proper road.

    I'm not sure if one is available that would handle the higher current. I now use a DVR 2 solid state reg on my other bike and just set it to 12 volts. This means I can now draw 120w from my standard dynamo, which is normally 60w at 6 volts. I've been using it for a couple of years now with no issues at all and coupled with LED bulbs it's never going to get overloaded. I have a video on here kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6FqrNKNda2xaKg.html
