Years ago, I got to see one of these up close and on the ground, prior to the completed build. Didn't know what i was looking at back then, but word eventually spread about what we were working on. Amazing levels of engineering, teamwork, aerodynamics and pure badassery! But if you think this thing is fast, and it is! KZread, Lockheed Martin HTV-2.
It's gonna hurt the bank account a little (not really), but i think i'll go buy one today. I just don't know who to call. The controlled flat spin, starting around 14:40, was gorgeous to watch from the cockpit. I can almost do it in my F-18. I mean my F/A-18 in DCS, not my real one. Yes, i also have imaginary friends. :P

For reference, I'm a fighter jet fan, and I recall the F-22 going for a hero loop in Chicago right after it--I dunno, dropped? Singularly bad term in this context. But something that people who follow this kind of stuff were looking for. And typically I'd be like, "ooooo-kay" but the F-22 did this full-stop hover in the middle of the Loop and I was like--oh, yeah. Okay. However much you feel about war, we're gonna win the next one.

And just like that, issues with the super expensive raptors were solved… no longer any engineering issues. Less than half are in operations. Who believes the govt or military leadership. You’d have to be insane.

Best jets with our country are F-16s. A friend of mine in Air Force told me they are very old planes but still rockin'. F-16 and F-22 are still ahead of times. It's amazing.

The way this plane moves thanks to the thrust vectoring consistently messes with my head. It just tilts and suddenly it's going in a different direction.

They might have been better with F104 Star Fighters. I believe there are still a few at the Shuttle Landing Facility...they can reach 100K feet.....😂

The F-22 is very impressive technology, exhibiting incredible capability and marvelous to look at. It is just too bad that they could not be delivered at an affordable price. Instead of the 750 aircraft originally planned, successive reductions in the procurement goal left the USAF with just 187 production representative F-22s. If numbers mean anything, one might argue that the F-22 is a technical success but a force structure failure.

I don’t know for sure if it was a p51 mustang but that short clip of the propeller war bird flying next to the F22 was so incredible! It shows the old and the new side by side, and it’s impressive to think they were able to get 2 planes of different callibers to go next to each other at roughly the same speed. Really amazing stuff
