I respect this man. Very articulate and a wealth of knowledge however, I know the amount of occupants in my home…..which is one after I send her home. If my antennas go up because my alarm goes off or I hear a shattered window then in my hands will be the weapon with the weapon light.

Nope. No shoot me first shoot me first shootings. Clearly this is the best way to dress to conceal any number of weapons. My late friend used to wear a leather vest and two full sized 1911s. When I first saw him after he retired wearing that rig. Was “ I’d shoot you first.” Admittedly it was in southern Arizona. Where it’s warm to hot mkstly.

Anyone who does not acknowledge the worth of a good revolver is lacking as a handgun enthusiast! Revolvers are tried and true. There are several calibers that perform at a level that they can STOP a threat. That threat may be ob four legs, or perhaps two. But a well placed round can make the difference.... BUT of course you sir know ALL of this very well..... I own a Colt, not the Python but a detective special. I had a smith replace the itty-bitty short barrel with a three inch barrel. Better sight picture! And for several years I stacked my life on that revolver. Granted drawing from an ankle rig when you are on your feet is a challenge. When seated it cannot be beat. A .38 special was the norm for decades. With modern bullets this caliber is more than capable of stopping the fight. It comes down to bullet placement, plain & simple! Too many folks these days operate on the spray & pray method! NOT a sound method of self defense. This could get you sent to prison or working for someone else the rest of your life. I do not care for either of those two options!!!! As always SIR thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us mere mortals. Until the next video!!

P365xl is awesome. If you enjoy shooting one handed try angling the gun for better recoil control so you can have quicker follow-up shots.

The Pro of the M17: Its body is disposable. The military wants a sidearm that it can trash the body and pop the chassis into a new frame when the current crop of M17's become clapped out, overused, under-maintenanced junk. They don't want to have to buy new weapons or go to the trouble of upkeep using Beretta specialist armorers. It's not worth it for a sidearm, they just want a modular system to swap the gun out every couple years. The Pro of the M9: Literally everything else. It's a better gun in every single metric except for the fact that the military doesn't prioritize high quality pistols.

Do what you're comfortable with. Research does show a lot of positives for red dots, some CC people have had some problems, but if you do it right it's an advantage because you get to target focus instead of front sight focus. My Dad isn't going to run one, but I do and I have always shot better than him (with handguns) and I taught him about front sight focus. You can train yourself to be able to do both. He is very good with his sights, and is getting so he beats me at the range some days. The distances he speaks of remember are "usual". You should train for every situation and focus on the "usual". Police involved shootings have shown that red dots are an advantage in at least police situations. Putting a pistol on your nightstand puts you at a disadvantage already. Get a carbine for home defense especially where accuracy counts(my kids rooms are on the opposite end of the home as mine). Always think for situations. A pistol is what you use until you can get to a real gun. Also PUT A LIGHT ON YOUR GUN. IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET AND DON'T SHOOT YOUR DUMB DRUNK KID SNEAKING IN AFTER MIDNIGHT.

I never thought I would switch to an optic. Never saw the need since I am very proficient with my irons. Until it got increasing harder to see my irons. I could still shoot fine with irons, but I noticed an ever so slight increase in time from draw to a good sight picture. Then I bough a Walther PDP and put a Holosun SCS green dot made for the PDP cut on it. After considerable training and practice, I haven!t looked back. About a year in and roughly 4,000 rounds at the range it has held up perfectly. The technology is getting MUCH better and they seem to be more reliable than optics of the past.

blacked out rear with high vis front here. i find this set up is a lot like a red dot. i can focus on the target while still seeing the front sight, though its blurry i have trained myself to know that its lined up and how that looks. even at distance, 25 yards, i can still make fast combat accurate hits. where the dot shines is if i had to make pin point accurate shots, mainly at distance. on a self defense gun im still using the high vis set up because im still learning the red dot. where i could see a red dot being beneficial is in specific situations like an officer responding to a school shoot type event or being caught up in one where you might have to make that distant shot past 25 or even 50 yards and you dont have access to a rifle and your handgun is your life line. lining up sights is going to be a lot harder in that situation. your hit percentage will be higher in a situation where youre already caught out gunned. but this is one specific situation that most wont be in.

While I appreciate Mr. Ayoob's critique of the mass media in its lionization of mass-murderers, I'd like to point out something that has been missed, vis-à-vis remembering perpetrators and forgetting the victims. There's a simple economic problem here--related to the allocation of scarce resources which have alternative uses (in this case, the resource at issue is human attention and memory). Here's the problem: whatever reporting happens in the media, it will ALWAYS be easier to remember the name of a mass murderer than the names of his victims, since the "mass" in "mass murder" implies a large number of victims, and because it is always easier to remember one name and face than a dozen.

I was recently taught a new technique that works really well... Position your hands "Straight Thumb," now point the thumb of the firing hand up. This creates a wedge between that thumb and the index/trigger finger that better controls recoil. If you do it one handed, you'll notice, as you move the thumb up or down, the muzzle of your gun moves. And there is no problem with the grip safety, my grip is just as tight, but my thumb is up.

difference for 1911s id tooling. Its just CnC at this point and hand assembly. So technically it is valid if your pumping out pistols you claim are superior to rock island, etc. That are essentially the same thing just tighter tolerances in some regards. I get the whole "expensive equipment" aspect also, but how many decades are you going to over price your products for ??

As someone who works in HVAC, there's been more than one occasion where I've been told to let myself in by a homeowner, only to be given the wrong address. As you'd imagine, it always resulted in frightened homeowners screaming at me demanding to know why I just opened their door. The elephant in the room was always that I was lucky they didn't just start shooting before letting me explain the misunderstanding. Because of these experiences, it's led me to make a resolved to stay as level-headed as possible should I ever have a similar experience.
