I have often asked how did civilization forget how they built the pyramids. With 72 years of life behind me I now understand how it was forgotten. Today we are forgetting craftsmanship less than 100 years old. In just one case most of the weaving patterns of Harris tweeds have been lost. There were hundreds now gone. The individual weavers of a particular weave have long since died. An interesting example of how we forgot how we built the pyramids.

Modern people cant even begin to believe the truth of the Great Pyramid bc our basic knowledge of human history is very incorrect. The Great Pyramid is many, many "different things" All in One. I've long suspected the reason why Dr. Z. the chief Egyptologist who resists scientific exploration of the Great Pyramids has his reasons beyond damage. I suspect Dr. Z. is so restrictive as most people believe the big one is 2.2 million precision fitted stones. However, the structures inside have roofs and such, some gambled, not needed if this was a precision structure. I believe the pyramids have precision fitted block on the outside as well as engineered chambers and tunnels. Yet, the inside is essentially filled with compacted rubble. This would explain why their available quarries don't have the capacity to have 2.2 million individual stones. Also, some calculations indicate there were just not enough human beings available to build the big ones in the time they had. Even if these are backfilled with rubble, they are engineering marvels as such. Still, protecting the myth that these structures are way beyond the people and technology of the day helps drive tourism and the mystery of the Ancient Egyptians. It takes about 100 years to build a current gothic cathedral like the National Cathedral in Washington DC which had air tools and hydraulic equipment. Some say of the great Gaza Pyramids were laid up in 10 years with about another 5 years for the shiny marble covering. Although the Egyptians say the marble came off in earthquakes and looted. I just find it way beyond the realm of possibility that they could quarry, transport and finish millions of blocks for what is still today and unseen, by the public. Much of the project was likely unfinished and some of the channels dug into the rubble as afterthoughts. Someday, we'll get a look inside those pyramids via high tech scanning and we'll know whether the inside is mostly block or rubble. Curious minds want to know :-)

The blockings with the copper works were used for changes with the seasons. The copper works allowed the blocks to be hooked and removed or had ropes attached to pull the blockers out. In cooler seasons the blocks were reset in place to prohibit the chimney draw effect so colder air wouldn't circulate into the pyramid. And/or, set in place to prohibit rain water from entering the structure. The channels with blocks are the on and off vent system.
