Walks4all

Welcome to Walks4all. A channel dedicated to walking and the outdoors.

The walk videos on this channel take you around the entire walk in a fraction of the time, but just linger long enough to take in the views.

So, if you want to check out a walk before you go to see if it's suitable for you, or if you're unsure on directions, reminisce about hikes conquered or simply to view the wonderful scenery, then look no further.

The routes and maps for all our walks and hikes along with directions are all on our www.walks4all.com website and are all downloadable.

We try to include somewhere to eat or drink after (and sometimes during) the walk.

Filmed and best watched in 4k or HD...if your internet connection allows.

    What a fantastic video. Looking to do three separate walks in The Lake District in August 2024. This was on my wishlist beforehand but now I really cannot wait to do this one. Beautiful scenery and easy to follow. Thank you! Am I right in thinking the Cathedral Caves are near to Slater's Bridge?

    Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully this current sunny weather reappears in August! Yes, cathedral caves are very near to Slater Bridge - I was going to include them on this walk, but there were a couple of school parties there when I passed and I try not to get children on the videos. About 2-300 metres before you reach slater’s bridge, the caves are on your left and well worth a visit. If u look on an OS map, not often named but just says quarries(disused).

    I can’t think of any way this video could have been better. The judicious use of fast-forward was perfect for my taste, and the commentary was good. It elevates my spirits to know the English, well some of them, still have such beauty and freedom to Roam in it. And on such elegant, naturalistic, well-looked-after paths and gates.

  • @walks4all
    @walks4allАй бұрын

    Glad you found the video useful. The steps are quite a bit steeper than the gravel path…but you can stop and have a rest on both routes to enjoy the views! I find the view better going up the steps, so generally do it that way round as my knees much prefer the gravel down instead of the steps down, but you could do gravel both ways, which TBH is probably the easier route.

  • @walks4all

    TBH I’m not sure. Legally maybe not, but on very early morning walks I have seen the odd tent there that was packing up. Where I have seen more tents very early morning is on top of the cove the far side of the pavement and further up near Malham tarn. I’ve also seen people on the flat approach to Gordale Scar. There is an official campsite as you leave Malham towards the cove. Sorry not much help here but the only wild camping I really do is on the Lakeland Fells.

  • @walks4all
    @walks4all2 ай бұрын

    Thanks - glad you enjoyed 👍 For the initial walk I set off about 6.30am finishing about 3.30pm. This was midweek which is why most of it is quiet. I realised that night some sections weren’t great as I took directly into the sun, so I went back the next day and did Pen-Y-Ghent and a few other bits again, this time setting off in the afternoon, which is why the start looks busier. I’m prob a little faster than average walking hills, but if I push on, it generally takes me about 8 hours. Most reasonably fit people who have done a reasonable amount of training take between 8-11 hours to do it. I hope that helps in your planning if you are doing it…

Once on google maps, you should be able to click directions, enter your own postcode and it will give you directions to the parking and the start of the walk. That is quite a large car park, but if full there is additional parking a couple of hundred metres up the road on the way into buttermere. There is more detail about the walk, a map of the walk on the buttermere walk page on our website: www.walks4all.com/walks/buttermere-lake-walk-from-buttermere. Fantastic video, we're looking to do this when the weather picks up in the next few weeks, we did the Edale skyline a few months back would you say this is similar in terms of difficulty?

  • @walks4all
    @walks4all3 ай бұрын

    Thanks - glad you enjoyed the video. It is quite a few years since I did the Edale skyline and I think there are a couple of variations of it. I think the one I did was approx 20 miles and about 1100m of climbing. So, on distance and climb alone the 3 Peaks is a little harder with an extra 4 miles and approx 400m more climbing. That said the 3 Peaks paths are much improved now over what they used to be, so the walk itself is mainly all on good ground and you get a good 'rest' between hills. The main difference will probably be that the edale skyline is more 'undulating', whereas the 3 Peaks climbing is really all crammed into 3 shortish sections going up each one. Most people find the steep climb up Ingleborough towards the end of the 3 Peaks tiring as a long way into the walk. Paths and signage are easy to follow on the 3 Peaks, the only 2 slight areas where more navigation could be requiured if all in low cloud, are a short section towards the top of penyghent and on the top of Ingleborough. The top of Ingleborough is where most people who 'get lost' go wrong in bad visibility. If I'm not videoing, the 3 Peaks is generally about 8 hours for me, I think the Edale skyline was just under 7 hours, so I'd maybe allow an extra 1.5 hours on top of your skyline time, but if you managed that ok, you should be fine doing the 3 Peaks. Becasue of the length of the walk and different fitness levels of the people doing it, there is quite a large spread in times taken to walk it, but most people do it in 8.5-11.5 hours.

    Glad you are enjoying them and finding them useful 👍 I do try to film them in the sun so clear and good visibility…downside is with how much it has rained last 5 months, there isn’t many days I can film!
