Something tells me the ‘new capital’ is just a way for the Egyptian government and rich people to move away from all the poor people they had to commingle with in downtown Cairo. Now they have a nice new place to live in and it’s a desert away from all the rest of citizens. The routes leading to the city can be cut off pretty easily, so no another Arab Spring for you and all that is done on the taxpayers money. Very nice!

Thanks for your informative video. I think there are 3 price brackets, one for Egyptian and 2nd for Arabs and third one for other foreigners. According to Masrawy article on May 1st , the price for a single sleeper cabin from Alexandria to Aswan will cost an Egyptian 1250 EGP and 1500 EGP for Arabs and 130 $ for others. I am assuming that all other routes and tickets will have a similar price fare system

Foreigners cannot book tickets online, yet. You can choose a window or aisle seat when you buy the tickets, just ask :) You should be able to find a ticket one day in advance, but if you can go earlier, that's a great idea. Have a great trip!

It's so sad to see these brand new cities be planned to be so car-centric and "individualistic" instead of places that foster community and encourage personal relations. Yes, it has streets and squares but their dimentions are vast, the buildings are isolated within private gardens, neighbourhoods are build in an American Suburb style layout, there's no space for small commerce... of course, I'm sure most of the apatments and houses will not be for the average Egiptian but only for the wealthy! How many Dubais do we need before we build cities at a human scale again?

I understand they don't publish foreigner price at the moment. enr.gov.eg/o-city/obs/enr/railway/en/booktickets I was wondering if the overnight Talgo trains listed in official website are legit? You often cannot buy Euros or any foreign currency in Egypt, even if you are at the airport. And if you are allowed to, they often have a very low limit, like 500 Euros. Oftentimes they will flat out refuse to buy EGP and sell you foreign currency at all. Has anyone had any experience with this recently?

HI There I am booking a flight for July 27, 2024 from New-Delhi -Cairo- Toronto (final destination). My layover in Cairo is of 2hrs and I have to Terminal from T2-T3. I have to do baggage, security and passport control. My question is : A) Is 2hrs enough time to do it all? My flight in Cairo arrives 00:45 so at midday of night so maybe lesser lines? B) Do I need transit visa?

2 hours might be enough time, or might not, it all depends on the lines. To me, I’d want at least 4 hours to be certain I’d make it through. Yes, you’ll need a visa in order to move between terminals. Best of luck!

I was there 2 weeks ago, but flew with EasyJet from LTN😂😂😂, the quickest and quietest airport I've been to (Sphinx), I must have passed thru immigration in less than 60 seconds
