    You can’t strip with a power tool if you UNSCREW

  • @ModernDIYProjects
    @ModernDIYProjects6 сағат бұрын

    Sure you can. If the screws are too tight and you hit it with a powerful screwdriver or impact wrench you can easily round off the head. The screws these days are made out of really cheap metal. Too much torque in either direction and you stripped the heads. Then all you have is a stuck screw and no way to grab it.

    The strange thing about CO detectors is whether it should be at the ceiling or knee height is debatable. CO is lighter than oxygen but mixes with the air & can be at different levels in a room. Some companies say have CO detectors at knee height or roughly the height of your head when sleeping. I think both areas make sense given its properties.

  • @ModernDIYProjects
    @ModernDIYProjects6 сағат бұрын

    Good point..... In the manual that comes with this unit is suggests to place the sensor either half way up a wall or on the center of the ceiling. It says to avoid the high corners of rooms because that tends to be a dead spot and will lead to bad readings. So your point is spot on.

    I don't like the skipping. I can easily fast forward over things I don't care about, but it is very difficult to pause the video on the things you skip over. Some things you skip I want to look at further. Keep up the good work and thanks for the video.

    I know my friend. It's hard to make a great video for every viewer. On the bright side that is why I have the static page at my website. That way you don't have to pause the video. Watch the video for the wacky commentary, then you can check the static page on my website to get any details on items that you missed.

    Never saw where you opened the low side switch on the connector. How did the Freon go into the system?

  • @ModernDIYProjects
    @ModernDIYProjects6 сағат бұрын

    The Freon goes in through the Yellow hose on the center port of the gauges. You hook up the Freon can to the Yellow hose, and open that connector when you are ready to introduce the gas into the system. The Low side should have been opened and ready from the start when you hooked up the Blue hose.

    The so-called "leaked" flyers do one thing that's important. They give a heads up on upcoming discount sales. So people may hold off on buying certain things and waiting for the sales.

    Since cable winch pullers are both haulmaster... it's probably a typo... it is probably a 4ton & not 4000 lb winch... If you actually check the specifications the cheaper has 3/16" cable & weighs like 7 lbs... the more expensive is 1/4" cabke & weighs 14+ lbs... they definitely are not the same... maybe the 2 ton is the typo?...

  • @ModernDIYProjects
    @ModernDIYProjectsКүн бұрын

    Not a Typo. I checked and they are printed correctly at the listing on the website. As you said, one is a little thicker cable than the other. But if they are both rated the same, then they should both perform the same right? That is the confusing part. A thicker cable should have a better rating, maybe 4 tons like you said. Like I have mentioned before in other videos, HF is a bit loosie goosie with their specs. I would never trust anything from HF to it's max rating. I would keep it at half the rating just to be safe. But for the DIYer either one will do.

    OK, I'll give you a few choices and you pick the best one for your application. Since you are doing it for yourself and not professionally you don't need to keep a kit on hand all the time. For this reason I would first suggest that you check your local Auto Zone or Oreilleys. They will lend you a kit to use for free. Since its for occasional use this is the cheapest way to go. Next Harbor Freight has like 4 or 5 kits to pick from which are good but you need to pick the best one for you. On the other hand you should really look at Vevor. They have like 20 kits to pick from and have a longer warranty than HF and have lower prices in many cases. So that is one site that you should really take a close look at. You can find Vevor on Amazon or on their own website. I have found them to be like HF but better quality and cheaper prices many times. Hope this helps.

    How's it going man, I have two questions about my 96 Dodge ram, it's only the 3.9 V6 with a utility bed, so stock it weighs close to 5500 lb if that has any tie into anything I'm going to say, but for one my brake fluid seems to be running through extremely quick, would there be any issues I should look out for or is that just because it's stopping such a heavy vehicle. Second question would be any advice for getting the engine to quiet down? It's been driving like a champ for 2 years, but runs super loud especially in idle

  • @ModernDIYProjects
    @ModernDIYProjects2 күн бұрын

    The V6 for 96 was extremely rattly. I test drove it when I was buying my truck and I could not stand the loud rattle from the V6 so I chose the 318 instead. Much quieter and smoother in my opinion. Not a race engine but that's not what I was looking for. Use a thicker oil and maybe that will quiet it down. You could also see if the valves are out of adjustment. For the Brakes there is NO reason to have to add fluid unless your pads are wearing out. You may have a leak somewhere. If you can't find a leak it may be internal to the brake booster. That is a hidden leak that is hard to locate at time. My truck would be definition heavier than yours since I have the 318 and I don't hardly ever have to add brake fluid. These trucks were pretty much the same with just engine and trans changes.

    Question what type of oil do you use with the truck having around 100,000 miles you said , are you still using conventional or have you switched to synthetic?

    @@ModernDIYProjects I got a 1996 3.9 v6 that just hit over 150k miles; are you saying to only use convincienal or would it be helpful to use high milage full synthetic? Also nice truck man, that thing is super clean

  • @ModernDIYProjects
    @ModernDIYProjects2 күн бұрын

    Thanks.... From what I have read it all says to stay with conventional. If you change to synthetic after all these miles you can start getting leaks, specially from the rear main. Synthetic tends to find a way out more than conventional oils will do. You can get a high mileage conventional oil, that's fine.

I think the one for 119 is a way better deal because you would have to buy 3 ratchets at 99 each to do everything the one for 20 dollars more can do, because of you need a1/2 drive ratchet you just change that part of the tool to 1/2 in drive, if you need to run a 1/4 drive socket you just use the 1/4 In drive

    I am an old customer of HF, but in the past years I found that the price of many goods at HF has increased a lot, which make it less attractive for some customers when comparing the brand name, quality, functions and durability of products like power hand tools, etc.

  • @rixtrix11
    @rixtrix118 күн бұрын

    HF thinks that by "making up brand names" for their Chineseum tools, they can compare them to industry standards and charge much more than they used to! Sure some tools have improved in quality, but not on a one-to-one basis. Hand tools are OK, but corded, battery and pneumatic definitely aren't comparable. I just bought a used 1991 Arcan 2ton cherry picker for $80.00 with a new jack that has twice the steel of a 2t Pittsburgh one for$369.00. Much thinner and smaller box tubing in the HF one!

    Great video! Appreciate the effort put into this concise and easy tutorial. Doing a coworkers brakes shortly with this car and wanted to know roughly what was in store. This is a very basic and easy to service setup, especially with the ease of returning the piston to fully open for the brake caliper. My VW is frustrating as it requires turning it to reset it whereas this is just a pressure system. Again, thanks!
