I was 7 yrs old when I answered the phone call from my cousin, who said Marvin Gaye was shot . I went and told my family members and their friends who partying in the living room. I repeated what was told to me. They cut on the radio and were informed. They were shocked and cried...I didnt understand and felt bad for twlling them.

His father had no right to kill him. We don’t know if he would’ve gotten help and maybe turned his life around , but I guess we would never know that cause his father took that away from him …one big lost such a big legend will never be forgotten ..

That quote was embedded in a lot of our parents and I believed until my daughter rebuked it saying "Mom that's not scripture". I'm always saddened by the lost og Marvin Gaye but his What's Going On and his gospel songs lives on. 😍😍

It seems the only person who would stand to be satisfied that Mr. Paul Williams become an ancestor would be the husband of the girlfriend. May Mr. Williams find Agape in paradise may Allah be pleased with all his works. I’m sure that this person can not sleep knowing he took away a legend.

I'm 63 and somehow this story has escaped me. This will take time to process. This period of music is special to me eventhough I was so young. For some reason I've always been drawn to soulful, funk, and RB..music..it soothes me whilst breaking my heart.

Paul Williams new to much. People need to ask MotoTown. Berry Gordon wasn't paying his artist right. Paul Williams was murder. Just like David Ruffin was murder.

I LOVED me some Phyllis. I was devastated when I heard she took her own life. MY mom & saw her live at Wolftrap not too long prior to that and you could definitely tell something was wrong. She said some pretty weird things on stage. Hearing this narration is so disturbing. I never knew she invited her friends to what would be her last concert. I can't even imagine what that must have felt like....so sorry Phylllis.......

I was lucky enough to see the original group in the UK. They were brilliant, amazing vocals and choreography. With Smokey Robinson writing and producing the group, they couldn't go wrong. I think as a group they evolved and with the likes of Dennis Edward and Damon Harris to name a few. Even less popular albums, such as Puzzle people had some great songs. I did go and see David, Dennis and Eddie perform in London and Eddie was having problems with his falsetto voice. I think the original Temps were by far the best vocal group around. Even though the likes of the Dells, Dramatics were doing well. Congratulations on your wonderful biography.

My fondest memory of Marvin was my freshman year in 1974 of college at NCA&TSU when he gave a concert at the Greensboro coliseum. I spent my last $7 for a ticket and walked from my dorm room to the concert, obtained a front row seat, took pictures when he would glance in my direction, and walked back to campus on clouds. I will never forget that memory!!!

No question that Berry Gordy was a hugely successful entrepreneur. However, as business savvy as he was, it was the talented singers, songwriters, arrangers, producers and most importantly the musicians who really made Motown. Sadly, with a few exceptions, most of the creative people never realized the financial rewards that should have come their way. In the documentary Standing In The Shadows of Motown, it was heartbreaking to find out that Motown left Detroit for Los Angeles without any notification to the musicians. The very people who created the Motown sound were left behind. That’s also the legacy of Berry Gordy. 😢😢

Brooklyn Sudano was also her daughter. The one that played on My Wife And Kids as Junior’s wife. It should be a biopic movie about Donna Summer. I can see Kelly Rowland playing her.
