JOHNNIE TAYLOR - THE PHILOSOPHER of SOUL | PASTOR TO PIMP HIDDEN STORY | WIVES & KIDS COURT BATTLE

And even though his name is still missing in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame alongside other greats like him, it doesn’t change the fact that to us, he will always be one of the best to have ever done it. He may be always overlooked and greatly under-rated,, but he surely, surely knows how high we will always rank him.

I grew up in the 90s in a small rural town in East Texas and as a kid Johnie Taylor and similar blues singers was the only music I knew. Some of the best shade tree blues you’d hear. I value my childhood and the way I was raised because of the blues. Nobody’s a bigger fan of JT than me. I had all his cds by the 2nd grade. I also remember hearing him on KKDA radio station. My uncle and I would listen every morning on our drive from Dallas to the country to work our cows.

Great video. Well done. Brings back memories. Notice the great Lou Rawls to Sam's right (our left) @ 5:04. Fabulously talented gentlemen. They made music when music was straight from the soul without all the new-fangled technical quirks. Back in the day folks who could sing and share their talent whenever and wherever the spirit moved. Didn't need a stage, theater lights, fancy microphone, and "all that jazz." Great artists Sam, Johnny, Lou Rawls, and another protegee' of Sam's who idolized him was the wonderful Bobby Womack. A richness of talent unmatched in today's world. 🏆

I agree. Professional respect for what they do is one thing, but at the end of the day, celebrities are human beings like everybody else. They put their shoes on like we do, and they use the bathroom like we do.

I watched this video in honor of my Mom. She loved J.T. He would put on a Thanksgiving Day Breakfast Dance in KC, MO at a hole in the wall…and she went!! She loved his music and this gave me a fond memory.

JT.... when he used to come to Arkansas.... his people would get intouch with some one I knew to get him some 8-Balls. Also, me and one of his cousins we romantically connected for years (she was about 20 years older than me.) She went to glory in 2022. May God rest her soul.
