Welcome to Wargames On Toast! This is a channel dedicated to all things Warcry. Me and my son are looking to produce all kinds of content ranging from Battle Reports, to tactical breakdowns, to news. If you like plastic/resin/metal models stomping around awesome looking tables, then we might have something right up your alley.
Welcome to the toaster.

Where do you find the rules for the Underworlds teams? I dont think I saw them in the compendium.
They are scattered in white dwarfs if I recall correctly. THANKFULLY, we have Warcrier.net which has every rule, stat, and fighter in the game ready to go and view!
One thing I have not seen mentionned Blessings are an Optionnal Rule. Like monsters, talk with the opponent about using them beforehand. They also, like monsters, might or might not be available in tournaments and events.
Good catch! Pinned :)
LOL! Having been into the game since the beginning and playing it as it’s evolved slowly over time, I have a passive sense of how complicated list building is, but to hear it all in one place in 17 minutes… it’s kinda BONKERS!!! 😂
Only the mad play Warcry XD
Big thanks for this video! finally there is an explanation on the bladeborn listbuilding, as warcrier gives an error everytime you press revalidate. (but i get it, web programming is annoying, ehehe). Anyway, thanks for this! I need to share it to any of my friend interested in Warcry! :D
I am glad it was helpful! Very grateful for any shares :)
Any recommendations for making ogor lists? Mawpack or otherwise
Mawpack are solid right out of the box, but will struggle in objective missions and are very squishy due to T3. If I was Mawpacking, I would consider taking one of the Bladeborn Ogors to gain access to their cheap chaff to bulk your numbers (Hrothgorn is very good for this), the Gobbapalooza for some cheap support, or even a Brute Boss from Ironjawz to shore up your objective game. Base Ogors are one of the best kill factions in the game. They have ludicrous damage output with Crushers, Tyrants, and Gutlords. Taking a couple of their big toys then bringing in their cheaper units like Gnobblars or Sabretusks keeps their model count high. You also have access to allies, with some of the Gobbapalooza being a great additions. Brewgit and Boggleye are the standouts. As a side note, a single box of Gluttons gives you all you need to get started. Plenty of Ogors, a Crusher, and some Gnobblars. Very cheap way to start the game and deceptively good on the tabletop. Hope that helps!
@@wargamesontoastcheers for that!
I've been using Vulkyn Flameseekers recently. Watching this video inspired me to use a couple of disruptive models. Such as Elathain and Tammael from Idoneth Deepkin Bladeborn
Those nets are really nice. I’ve ran a Bloodwrack Medusa with them before (way more expensive points wise) and the net she brings was super useful. The urge to go and fight their biggest model is strong, but in reality, all you have to do is distract it or net it and you’re free to ignore it.
Great Vid! What would you say about the Daughters of Khaine in WC, for a beginer?
Daughters of Khaine are tricky because they have fairly low damage and low durability. You would need to bring some allies to add bulk and some damage for kill missions. On the plus side, the Bloodwrack Medusa is very good as a hero, so you at the very least have a powerful leader for your warband who is packed with useful abilities :)
@@wargamesontoast Heroes looks decent, though very glass cannon. :) And yep, they seem to rely on synergies with thei rlow str and dmg.
Another great video and hopefully comes in handy for our next battle with Bigfoot this Friday :p
Stoking the flames of war XD
I jate wiem people call boxed warbands bespoke... There is nothing bespoke about them, they are clearly Ready To Play product, like RTW ( ready to wear) suits or ready to drink cocktails in a can... Why call it bespoke?
Because that’s what the community adopted, so for clarity, I used it XD
I've been toying with building a Bonesplitterz warband as I was able to get some models for cheap. Any thoughts on this?
Bonesplitters are glass cannons for sure. They have the wonderful benefits of a 4” Charge and some decently smashy characters as well being part of Destruction for some really good allies. They aren’t amazing, but they have some dastardly tricks
How to make first warcry warband: Purchase one box of Ogor Gluttons
That’ll do it XD
Disappointing there's no option to slot a Breaka-boss on Mirebrute Troggoth as a monster
10:00 Who's gonna tell him the Slann list came dead last? -1 Saurus Guard with Attack blessing -3 Slann Starmasters with Strength blessings
It coming dead last doesn’t change how fekking cool it is
@@wargamesontoast Was fun to play though Would recommend if you don't need to win
Congrats on taking 2nd place!
Thanks!
Not sure if you'd know much more than you've said but I'd love to hear more info about how the four man seraphon played. The photo looked like a club saurus was the fourth model, were they just all loaded up with blessings?
Yes! They had 4 strength blessings if I recall correctly :)
Almost 1-box fot the Golems. The third legionaire in the box is either twin hammer or bolas, and cannot be a regular legionaire wirh shield
Close enough XD
That was me! Thanks for the kind words. The 3rd Legionary did indeed have the bolas.
@@quadsixes6666one-boxing like an absolute champ. Love to see it
The current situation trigger to buy AoS army boxes, so bigger box is better to prepare a warcry warband with many options. I doubt this is a healty way for warcry itself, but for selling AoS boxes. Also warcry change its way from chaos to other factions. The range is bigger (maybe not selling rate for GW), but it has lost its chaose dark charm. Also Gnarrwood is boring and GW should change finally the theme.
No reason why you can’t play warcry on whatever board or theme you want. Don’t like flesh trees? No bother!
congrats!
THANKS!
Big Congratulations on winning! that Kruleboyz list is nasty stuff, and i've tested it on TTS, hahah. Never mess with the potgrot!
Thanks! Yeah, the list felt really good. It could handle just about anything decently well and it barely conceded any kill points thanks to its overall bulk. Pot Grot OP
Alas I was unable to get a ticket for this event, but I will be at the one in September! Congrats on the 2nd place
That’s awesome! See you there :D
TTS reps going hardddd! ❤
Team TTS raw dogging WHW
This sounds like a great event, really gutted I missed it! Well done on 2nd place mate! 😁💚
It was great - WHW is always a joy to attend. Hopefully we’ll meet again at a future event :D
Appreciate the shout out, dude! Loved playing my happy little Vanguard list and had an absolute blast at the tournament. Still waiting on meeting you in the draw, though! Congrats again on the 2nd place. HUGE achievement 👏
A beautiful warband played well, it was great grabbing a game with you!
I keep on pairing up with your team - but the fates refuse to pair us. One day we will clash, and it will be glorious.
@@phylax6206 Likewise! Looking forward to the rematch 🔥
@@longrunhobbies it was an interesting list. I'm pretty sure that was the game where I had fewest models left on the table at the end...
Congratulations on the win 🎉
Thanks man :)
Great report and was a pleasure to see meet you there. (Leon)
Glad I did the event justice, and it was sweet nattering with you and Anthony. Congrats on the 3rd place finish :D
Im sure the missions we played had the same names, but I'm sure I played a very objective heavy pack :)
More seriously, even on the missions where the kill is the "primary" (I hate this labelling) you can generate a larger points gap from the objective condition a lot of the time - you can get a 2VP swing from winning the objective condition and quite often the points on the kill condition will be 2-1 (both players get a kill, one player gets more, no heroes go down)
I very mission is an objective mission when you have 11 lads :p
Totally agree. Playing the objective is really strong, and it was one of the only ways I was winning Brutal Encounter in R4. Took it from a risky brawl to a smooth victory
@@wargamesontoast kind of has to be though :) most of mine die to a stiff breeze, and in three of my four games I averaged under 300pts of kills per game.
Hail the victorious dead!
TTS REPRESENTING BIG TIME! congrats on the great placement and well done!
Thanks man :D So many TTS and Discord lads landing killer spots. You love to see it.
TTS boys winning ip
Rolling on up and clapping cheeks
I love this video. I love maths but I agree that average is a powerful but also limited statistic. I always also look at the chance to miss and the chance to do the Crit value or more as additional statistics. It requires more maths but gives quite a lot of additional insight.
Glad my limited understanding of maths brought some level of enjoyment hahaha
Older video, but Toast, this has sold me, I'm getting the Soulsworn
They are loads of fun :)
It always depends on what one is looking for. Warcry is the most "fun" and (from my experience) least competitive game, which is what I'm looking for.
Good point well made
Is there a way you would demonstrate a Slow devastating swing with the system? How can you make an attack Feel like it is heavy & slow, easily avoided, but if it hits would decimate anything it touches? At least for Mollog that seems like the intent, and in that regard I've always enjoyed how that feels in general, except when he's swinging against something equally large. Just my thoughts as well. I enjoyed the video & definitely agree with mist of the points.
I’m not entirely sure how I would implement it within the restrictions of the system. But I’m also not entirely against the concept of low attack high output. I mean, Wielder Of The Blade and the Royal Decapitator fit into that. 5/10 feels like it pushes it a bit too far in terms of the swing potential due to the raw damage per dice. Mollog is interesting because he’s incredibly expensive in terms of points. He also fits into Destruction which has access to Brewgit and blessings innately bring in to 3 attacks, not 2. Mollog often feels like overkill - which I am totally fine with. Vexmor feels like he’s just a ball of chaos in comparison - which I guess is the point. If I was to redo the video I’m not sure I would say I would want him reworked. I think it would be better to say I would like profiles like his to not becomes more common. Chaos inherently keeps him in check as it’s almost impossible to get more actions out of him. If Vexmor was in Order, he’d be unbelievable haha I guess if I wanted to make it more avoidable, it’s maybe lower his strength since that stat determines accuracy
@@wargamesontoast I personally think there should be a cap on Attacks based on Damage. I think 5/10 profiles should never go above 2 as a base (& not be able to be blessed higher either). I think having to invest dice to get to 3 A or higher with rare cases like Brewgit (but that particular buff has limits of its own). Similarly though I think 4/8 should cap out at 3A base (even with blessings). I think it would veer off theme if they had lower strength or higher Attacks on lower damage, but I'm willing to try it. My group is fairly open to homebrew. I'm working on the discord to test on ToC 21 Bladeborn updates, so I'm willing to try something with a little less damage.
@evanjackson3527 Fair points well made. As long as we keep getting interesting things to natter about, I’m all for it :D
It all depends on what you need. If you're swamped with chaff, reliable attacks are less likely to cause you heartache. I think there's an element of observational bias here - you're very likely to notice the big numbers when they happen. Analysing the max output of your comparisons is only half the equation - what's the expected output? To go back to the game design q, the buckets of iterative dice isn't the only way to produce more reliable results - adding dice is produces a bell curve with far less effort. But one consequence of that curve is that the barrier for new players goes up. As outcomes become more predictable, the chance of the dice giving someone a lucky break diminish, and lucky breaks are what often sustain the interest of a new player. Every wargamer, I am convinced, thinks they're in the top 50% of wargamers. We tend to blame rng when things go south (which, for 50% of us, they do more often than they don't). But often it's those little happy accidents of success that kept our interest when a perhaps more expected result wouldn't that are just as important for a game as a whole.
Get on with it
I’m fine dawdling
Roll to hit, rillll to wound, roll for armour, roll for firled/other, use a resource if relevant (possibly rolling to see effect). Or roll oonce to attack and use reaction/saved up dice for Warcry abiity (if relevant). Warcry is just a development of the GW attack system. So is the scenarion making.
imo Vex is ok, need i say it, he is actually balanced. even if that 5/10 sounds like "omg what are you doing GW??" he isn't that effective once you find loopholes, like Vex is slow, and rolling 1-2 dice just is a turn off cos it tends to always give me 1 and 2. i'm sure they learn their lesson after Chimera.
I’m not saying he’s unbalanced, I’m saying he’s in an interesting design space that I don’t think fits well with the system. He’s got plenty of flaws and weaknesses for sure!
With Spearhead clogging up the Warhammer-sphere, this is a great reminder of why we love Warcry. The first half, anyway
Warcry is wonderful
