    Mornin'. - Standard Windows updates, we get them monthly it seems like. Windows was naughty to not let you just restart. A friend keeps encouraging me to switch to Linux but I am so tied to MS Office after so many years I can't imagine switching. - All Subs are dumb. This morning the Subs were in nearly every game I played, often in pairs. - Two Groningens and a Mogador walk into a bar . . . . . . . . - Ugly? I think the Duchaffault is one of the prettiest DD's in the game! 'Course, I Like the look of the Swedish DDs as well . . . - La Hardi at Tier VII goes to the 130mm guns; they gets a set of twin tubes on each side and a high mounted triple raised up to fire to either side. - L'Aventure at Tier VIII get six 130mm and three triple torp launchers. - They are improving Buffalo?! It makes no damned sense, but, YIPPEE!

    Second note on the new French DD line. - Someone mentioned in chat that they were really jack-of-all-trades, masters of none. The torps load too slow, once the guns are 130mm the are solid but not spectacular, speed boost helps. I don't think they are bad boats, practicing DD tactics in the Duchaffault and L'Aventuruer is good for me as I do not have the smoke to cover me so I am focused on my concealment range and popping in and out to HE cruisers and BBs. - I think adding the Submarine Surveilence would give these ships an edge, get them played.

    Double down-tier cruiser is usually not an enjoyable experience at T6 and T7. Very few cruiser lines are comfortable in those situations. I can think of a handful of T6/T7 ships that I am comfortable playing when bottom-tier like that.

    Also i get your comment, but if they kept making great "well rounded" fletcher class dds then nobody would want to get it bc you already have the free tech line fletcher. You got to do different things, bc everyone has different tastes. Many people may not like the Khab, but for some it fits perfectly how they play. I like that WGs makes some goofy things bc it keeps it interesting. People complaining that every new ship that comes out isnt this awesome super well rounded monster. You got to have weird in the game. And your crazy taking this over a behnam btw. Thats just nuts. Benham can launch 8 torps every 30 seconds and the guns are still good, not great. I mean, the behnam is literally up there for one of the best dds in the game. But i guess to each is own right?

    I like the johnston alot. Counter to alot of other players thinking. I play very well in this ship, and i love the burst fire. Last game had a kraken with the thing. Long range hard hitting torps, great guns, great detectibility, great speed, and all the goodies. But i might also be biased bc i got the johnston just from buying one wings of freedom container. I didnt necessarily want to get the dd in the first place but when you dont need to spend 85$ for it it seems a little bit more attractive lol.

  • @SeaRaptor

    Don't misunderstand me: just because I have criticism for the ship doesn't mean I don't want people to play and enjoy it. That's 100% never the case. I want every ship in the game to have fans. Mostly I did this little review because most of my regulars know I'm a sucker for all things Fletcher and wanted my opinion.

    An informative look back @SeaRaptor I think you ought to add the addition of "Superships" (aka Tier 11) to the milestones. I know you've mentioned it before in some of your ship reviews and such. The introduction of Superships has made the experience of playing a Tier 9 ship similar to the experience of playing at Tier 7. I see it when I play at those tiers and it's disheartening. Thought I'd toss that out there as I'm curious as to what effect adding Superships may have had on the trend. (Honestly, I initially thought "SS" was "Superships.") :-D Great job as always!

    Watching the morning after. - Gneisenau is good in ranked as she can really rack up the damage. Maintaining HP with her is a choice. - Munchen in Ranked? Really? Squishy and no heal? hmmmmmmmmmm - I like Florida. Dispersion .. poor. HP .. poor. Armour .. poor. Does she uptier well, No. BUT, 12 guns. My kill rate with that ship is significantly higher than near every other because she kills cruisers, can Pen & Cit BBs at her tier, and when the shells DO group well, you will delete a medium health BB.

    Last stand is a thing required for all of the treaty cruiser type ships. Basically the only ones you won't feel the loss of it are the supercruisers...the ones that burn longer.

  • @SeaRaptor
    @SeaRaptor15 күн бұрын

    Last Stand is very much a skill that I sometimes wish I had and don't. The German cruisers need it - Hippers can get their engines knocked out by a stiff breeze - but everyone else typically needs to get citadel-ed in order for it to be meaningful. Which is still worth it.

  • @SeaRaptor

    What nerf to the secondaries? Massachusetts' existence pretty much already drowns out many other T8 American battleships, notably Alabama. The fact that she is slightly more vulnerable to submarines than her sisters - especially given a SoDak's torpedo protection - isn't exactly deal-breaking.

  • @GeneralCox
    @GeneralCox16 күн бұрын

    once again thanks for this, look forward to the next vid! For me the commonwealth cruisers had me excited, but before that... british battlecruisers maybe? It's been a while. I've been of the opinion for a few years that they were putting too much new content into the game at once (a lot of it monetised), and that it was going to affect gameplay (due to the new gimmicks required to keep each line interesting), and revenue for them in the long run. There are only so many whales, and a slower development pace, whilst making the most enjoyable game (inc compeittive) possible may have led to better player number retention, and prolonged spending on the game. Unfortuntely at this point I don't see the contrition from WG to accept these trends and try to address these problems and we are 'stuck' enjoying a dying game.

  • @SeaRaptor
    @SeaRaptor16 күн бұрын

    According to vast swaths of people, the game has been dying for a long time. I've often refuted that statement; in fact, a conversation very nearly like that is exactly what started me making these videos in late 2019. With that said, I agree with you on the pace of content. Many years ago there were more than a few of us on the CC side that were attempting to express our frustration with how much was being released how quickly. The general sentiment was "too much content is never a bad thing", and from their perspective I can see the argument. That sort of thing works for, say, World of Warcraft after all, where you're trying to please a lot of different people each of whom is looking for something different out of the game (PvE, PvP, whatever). I've always felt that the crowd that enjoyed botes was different... that it had less time but more disposable income. A slightly older crowd that didn't mind the slower pace of play.

  • @GeneralCox
    @GeneralCox12 күн бұрын

    @@SeaRaptor I agree 'dying' is a bit dramatic, especially since it's the natural flow of online development cycles, if warcraft see's it then its no surprise it's in wows. I guess I use it from seeing the increasing gimmicks and monetisation involved in playing, coupled with a lot of matches being a lot less fun due to the meta that's been created (dumped on by cvs you can't deplane, shotgunned by subs = back of map sniping), I still do have fun, but it's definitely not as consistent as a few years ago, so I guess it's my engagement that's dying! And completely agree with your point on content. I guess it's different from game to game, but there is definitely that development cycle of beginning, middle, and end, where at a certain point the amount of new branches could have been scaled back, maybe replaced by prestige ship launches? Which would then allow for more thorough testing and feedback through CC's and maybe tried changing the meta from time to time to keep competitive lively. I find watching a match between two good teams a heady mix of chess and skill (chess boxing almost), I would have loved to see how they would adapt to different metas.

    thanks Raptor. I think 2024 data will be the really telling story of where things are at. Something like the Wisconsin dockyard is going to bump stats, but as per your comment I dont think it is only subs which is causing the decline. As others have said, the aggressive monetisation and significant reduction in rewards from things like the battlepass (which I know isnt called that anymore) I feel are all contributory. Introducing a t10 german premium cruiser and testing AP skip bombers is probably the most recent example I can think of where their ideas dont really seem to corelate to what the community is hoping the will provide. I could add a few more things (number of overmatch BBs, number of v accurate BBs etc) which are also not helping

  • @SeaRaptor
    @SeaRaptor16 күн бұрын

    Truth be told, I'm not sure overpowered battleships is a real factor here. I am well aware I'm an outlier in Warships in that I don't enjoy BBs very much. The big, over-gunned battleships are - I suspect - a rather large draw for most players to the game. (Which is fine, they're just not my cuppa.)
