I honestly do not remember Ryback ever being "over;" unless a few kids doing the ”Feed Me More" chant is considered over. I may be misremembering, but I remember hearing him being heckled with the ”Goldberg" chants from day one. Also, just because Vince McMahon books you like a main event player doesn’t mean that you are.

Idk about the IWC in general because I was like 12-14 when Ryback was a main eventer but he was really over by my demographic at the time and I remember people thinking he was insane back then. Similar vibe to what Bron is now, now that I think about it. Kids are a massive part of the WWE fanbase to be fair

@@Wrestleology I’m not saying that your point isn’t valid, nor that it’s incorrect, but you may be looking at Ryback’s time "on top" through the lens of when you were a 12-14 year old. When I was that age, I remember thinking that the blindfold match between Jake Roberts and Rick Martel was top-notch entertainment. Basically, what I’m saying is that the magic of our youth can put a positive spin on things because we don’t understand it all that well. As we get older we tend to look at things more objectively. And with professional wrestling, we are able to look beyond what the company wants us to believe or feel in their presentation. The beginning of Roman Reigns’ singles career is a good example. For years, WWE was trying to shove down our throats that Roman was the top guy, the Big Dog, the face of the company. Kids bought into it, but pretty much everybody else hated it. Someone who has been watching professional wrestling for a few years becomes aware when a company does this, and they don’t like it. They want to be able to choose who they root for; i.e. Danial Bryan, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, etc…

Your claim that Ryback, at any point, was "over to the level of Goldberg", is ridiculous. Nobody who actually experienced the Goldberg streak in WCW when it happened, would ever agree with that statement. Nothing WWE has done after the "Monday Night Wars"/Attitude Era comes anywhere near Goldberg in late 1997/1998. Certainly not Goldberg in WWE - and most definitely not Ryback!

Absolutely no one should feel bad for the guy, by all accounts he was an entitled asshole all his life because he was related to Mil Mascaras who was himself a complete entitled asshole according to basically everyone. Guy was given everything you could ever want and threw it all away because he believed he should have been even more favoured than he already was.

there is something about these extremely muscular mostly steroid abusing wrestlers-Ultimate Warrior, Goldberg, Ryback(Ryback didn’t have the career of the first two) They really seem to have a massive ego and always seem to play the victim. That along with being shitty in the ring just makes them pathetic. They don’t seem to see how much they were given compared to their talent level.

All I have to say is that the King of the Ring tournament under Triple h's watch provides a whole lot more purpose than it ever did when Vince was in charge 🤷🏿♂️! And with both Gunther and Nia Jax getting title shots at SummerSlam after their crowning moments, seems like that the concept is finally in the step of the right direction 💯!

Arguably one of the best tag team wrestlers of all-time in the WWE, with 11 reigns as WWF/E Tag Team Champion. He also held the Intercontinental Championship & Hardcore Title twice. He is also 60 years old now, & still wrestling! Anyone his age is retired. He’s still having decent matches and teaching two great young wrestlers in “The Acclaimed” faction - (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens)

It's just that Billy Gunn wasn't the WWF's first pick to win the King of the Ring tournament in 1999. The original pick was supposed to be the Big Show, but he was out of shape when going from WCW to WWF.

Big Show like you had said was OUT OF SHAPE coming to the WWF. The argument WWE had “someone else”, slated to win the KOTR, when that person was an out-of-shape Big Show, adds more truth to my claims about Billy.
