    If I'm not mistaken he's the only person to hold The OVW Championship, WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, ROH World Championship, ECW Championship, and AEW Championship. Plus having been the only wrestler to outright win two money in the bank ladder matches. The only thing he hasn't done is win a Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania!

    CM Punk will go down as one of the most polarizing figures in wrestling history. That ICONIC pipebomb promo he did back in 2011 was amazing, Dude was speaking straight up FACTS and that’s one of the reasons he became so popular. MITB 2011 Punk vs Cena is one of my favorite matches of ALL TIME also the crowd was anti Cena they only wanted their hometown guy to win. That 434 day WWE Championship reign was really cool to, I can’t wait for him to win the Royal Rumble and face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 to become World Heavyweight Champion

    Which I honestly find funny because there are plenty of wrestlers who have done far worse than him in their lives, yet they get a pass. I've never heard of Punk making an unwanted pass at a woman or flash his penis to a flight attendant. I certainly haven't heard of him pooping in someone's luggage in a locker room or having an affair with a fellow wrestler's girlfriend that resulted in that wrestler's firing. All he's done so far is go on a public rant at a media scrum and get into some backstage locker room fights.

    Punk was always fascinating to me... I can't say he's my favorite wrestler or that I even particularly like his overall demeanor and personality, but he's probably the guy that I think about most when it comes to the world of wrestling. Punk twists entire companies around his existence, to the point where people still chanted his name a decade after he left WWE. Nowadays, you can't even begin a conversation about AEW without Punk somehow making his way to the forefront. Even with him being suspended and off tv for months, he was the most talked about thing in relation to AEW; the Elite, Tony Khan, and Jericho keep bringing him up even after he was fired. Just by Punk becoming part of AEW, the company itself feels like it became synonymous with him, in a way that even somebody like Omega never managed. I'd say it's appropriate to call him the 'Best in the World' simply because he's the guy memorable enough for people to actually care. The Rock returns to great pop and accolade, but when he goes away again the discussion dies back down. Hogan shows up and people scream but completely forget about him again when the night is over. But Punk, he has people talking about him weeks and months after he makes an appearance. Even the people deadset on him never setting foot in a wring again, the most vitriolic of his haters, can't help but keep bringing him up because he lives rent-free in their heads.

    Okay I love CM Punk too but Daniel Bryan was literally holstered simply and only because of him being a fan favorite that represented much of what CM Punk did. The untraditional guy that was good in the ring and ignited a crowd. I think I would agree he is gonna go down as a bigger guy than Daniel Bryan when all is said and done but Daniel Bryan deserves his props too haha. Either way CM Punk is the man and he cut some of the best off the cuff creative promos that the WWE has ever seen. He is back doing the same thing 💪

    I’m not an actual fan of punk but I enjoy his work. I don’t like his image and I rarely watch his matches I find them to be quite boring but he’s one hell of a promo artist. His mic abilities are second to none. Unlike the rock who regurgitates the same old puns and one liners punk actually has something to say. He gets his point across. He’s a great storyteller and a mark onto himself. The wrestling business thrives on controversy and this is where punk found his niche. He turns heads, he gets people talking and above all else he’s entertaining. Like Drew said the other day in their promo, I hope he lasts longer then a few months. At best punk does what anyone can only aspire to do; he entertains and delivers whatever scope or fashion and I can’t fault him on that. I’m really excited for his burgeoning feud with Rollins and their inevitable match at wrestlemania 40. This goin be good!

    Wait, is this cause of the AEW injury stuff? Because, honestly, there are a lot of people over there getting injured, especially for the 'safest company' to work for. I'll wait to see what he does in WWE before I judge if his injuries wee because of fragility or just the AEW environment.

    @@lo4tr I think after the Ryback situation in WWE and them running his body into the ground, Punk is prone to all sorts of injuries especially at over 40. Ryback took years of his career, which is where their beef seems to stem from. He was like to Punk what Nia Jax is to the women's division. So I think the majority of his injuries in AEW and now at Royal Rumble stem from that. For anyone to call him Fragile Phi is asinine indeed, but I think all the abuse his body has taken has laeft him injury prone.

  • @lo4tr

    @lo4tr

    4 ай бұрын

    @@dvdbeatsuchihamishimastyle5630 Correct me if I'm wrong, but his recent injuries were to the extremities. He broke his foot doing stuff he'd never tried before during the Elite stuff. He tore his tricep after Collision started and he tore it again during the rumble. I think Punk threw caution to the wind in all the excitement (between AEW chaos and proving himself in WWE) and didn't take care of himself. I'm hoping that his return to WWE later will have him go a bit slower. He won't have the pressure of coming in and maining Wrestlemania within a few months, so he should have time to actually get back into the swing of things.

    CM punk is a wrestler with backstage influence in an era where that is pretty much non-existent. He stands out not because he cares about himself only. It's because he speaks the truth about what's going on. something I always hated about wrestles who abuse their power like brock lesnar and Shawn Michaels is that the wrestling era or business can progress in the correct direction if they didn't sabotage it in their favor. And it gets worse if they get selfish and not show up.

I think, in some ways, the WWE needs to rerun Punks AEW series, with Punk dealing with all the people that hate his guts over the course of the year. As of now, Punk's biggest draw is how different he feels from everybody else and he needs to reestablish his character for WWE specifically. Have him retain that notion of being the outlier; have all the people in the back do everything in their power to keep him from winning the Rumble and have the feuds set up to bring Punk into being the modern day equivalent to Austin. Make him lose the big match to light that fire and get him to the point of destroying people rather than just chasing gold. Capitalize on the sheer controversy that exists just by Punk stepping back into the ring.

    I actually think that's why 'Best in the World' works for him. No matter who is better than him at all of the individual parts of being in the business, Punk is the one that people just don't shut up about. Even him claiming to be 'Best in the World' just serves to make people talk about him more, even if only to disagree with him. I can't think of many other wrestlers that have such a grip on the cultural zeitgeist that even year after being gone they are still talked about during and after almost every show. And this was before he stepped back into AEW and made essentially the entire company revolve around his existence, whether that was in a positive or negative light.

    I have to disagree with you. While a little sloppy at times... Punk's matches always make sense; he's among the most realistic sellers and has great facials during his matches.He has a varied enough move set to make each match it's own. He often looks vulnerable, keeping his opponents' credibility high. This allows for very compelling matches. His character is one of the best in history... A wrestling mark who got sick of the direction wrestling was headed; and jumped the barricade to get in the ring and fix it himself. His look matches his character... Regular guy; drug-free, no enhancers. He's not a "Superstar". He's an underdog who carries himself like a superstar. Plus his mic skills and ability to stay current and relevant are unmatched.

    I’m not an actual fan of Punk but I enjoy his work. I don’t like his image and I rarely watch his matches I find them to be quite boring but he’s one hell of a promo artist. His mic abilities are second to none. Unlike the Rock who regurgitates the same old puns and one liners Punk actually has something to say and he gets his point across emphatically. He’s a great storyteller and a mark unto himself. The wrestling business thrives on controversy and this is where Punk has found his niche. He turns heads, he gets people talking and above all else he’s entertaining. At best Punk does what anyone can only aspire to do; he entertains and delivers, I can’t fault him on that. His return at Survivor Series was simply riveting. I’m really excited for his burgeoning feud with Rollins and their inevitable match at wrestlemania 40. This goin be good!

    Punk is good on the mic and that's about it. If he were on commentary he'd be utilized better in all honesty. Unlike Samoa Joe (who is also a good talker) Punk just can't go in the ring and is pretty damn fragile. Sure, Joe is injury prone as well but Punk is just made of glass apparently and lacks the in-ring ability to do much.
