As we say, “you have to separate the man from the artist”. I love the cinema of Woody Allen and Polanski. I think HP Lovecraft is a literary genius. And yet, humanly, they are not good people. David Simon by his religion/ethnicity is a heartless idiot when it comes to the State of Israel. And yet The Wire is one of the 5 greatest series in history.

I'm a professional muso. After 35 years in the biz, I can tell you the rarest thing in the world for musicians is a singer/front person who can truly capture and hold the attention of a crowd but then not be a total douch bag. For some reason you have to actually believe you are God's gift to the world, to be seen as s gift from God. I've always imagined actors would have very close personality types to singers 😂

My teory is that, hanzee was somewhat of a mentor or previous boss of the tripoli in season 1, and just are 2 different characters related by their businesses.

People are confused with Alto Knight social club and Ravenite social club. Alto was located on the corner of Kenmare and Mulberry Streets while Ravenite was on Mulberry between Spring and Prince Streets.

I refuse to believe that Don Corleone didn't know what would happen if he sent Luca. He knew that Luca would die. Luca wasn't subtle, he wasn't a spy. He was a hitman. There's no way he would send Luca without knowing that they would kill Luca. He sent him to his death to test if it was a trap or not. He didn't want to lose someone smart like one of his sons, or any of his capos.

Lucy and Jules, along with Fontane, are my favourite parts of the book. It actually feels hopeful and their relationship is genuine and loving, even if Jules is kinda condescending, but then almost every woman in the book is treated like a child, it's a bit weird.

The Irishman would have been OUTSTANDING if somehow they could have gotten the Nicholson of the '92 Hoffa film to play that role. Pacino just didn't work. The only reason I like the Irishman at all was for Pesci's performance.

The way that death was written, it would have been tough to watch, but I guess it's an industry trope to kill a character off when the audience loves them, guaranteeing a powerful response. I would have hated to see him die, but it would have been better than the 1990 release without him and FAR better IMO than a Godfather III where it's Michael vs Tom for control of the family.

If Vito had approached Finn after the security thing and said listen Finn you can’t tell anyone what you saw. If you do I could be killed my family and friends are very homophobic, I honestly don’t think Finn would’ve said anything. It would’ve had the added bonus of not scaring Finn. Like CineRanter said Finns a liberal college kid and wouldn’t have the same attitude towards gay folks as the mafia. Finn would’ve accepted what Vito said and went home and that would’ve been it. It just shows that a lot of these dudes are actually terrible at reading people.

Too bad Paramount flagged this scene for copyright since it seems like fair use unlike the scene where Michael tells Carlo he has to answer for Santino, which is still on KZread.

Why does Michael agree to the meeting at the funeral on Tessio's territory where he would be safe, when Don Vitto already had a safe meeting with all the NY Mafia Families? Why not have another meeting there again?

I think that the characters are so different that the approach required would require a lot more work to get Clemenza onto those beats. That being said, having all those core characters step out against Michael could have really shown how far Michael had strayed and really highlight the cold calculativeness of Michael as the motivation of their betrayal, and then to be met with Michael's brutal side. You can definitely see why they wanted to go there: what's wrong with Michael can be seen by the genius and the simpleton.
