I really felt the movie was underrated… it’s a clever movie… I would highly recommend the TV show really stands up as well… I love the whole story and how he plays out
I binged the Gentlemen series twice now. Great!
his gangster movies always have such a unique tone and vibe
Just like Tarantino, Ritchie is contractually obligated to shoe horn an “evil Nazi” reference in every film/series.
we have a tarantino at home....
The man from U.N.C.LE is very good
Loved it!
Guy Ritche's films are the best! Love his Snatch w/ Brad Pitt
Great show. His last 3 movies have bombed.
The premise of the show was really interesting. I was disappointed that Gus had a minor role considering his image is on the billboard.
We call it “The Cheeky” show, and trademark Ritchie. Any plausibility fell away trying to think they’ve been dealing pot for years undetected. Ultimately I was waiting for a character from Rock N Rolla, say Archie to make a cameo. That would have made it all worth it.
Loved this series. Kaya Sclodario stole the show for me.
RocknRolla is his best film.
I almost stopped watching the series during the journalist episode but it won be back at the end
It's just okay. Had a _nearly_ exciting build up to a lackluster ending.
You should look into watch Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, nearly as good as Snatch to me, and if you want a rarley talked about ritchie project than have a look at the TV show Lock, Stock. All the episodes are on KZread, made between LSATSB and Snatch, which had Guy Ritchie direct a full length pilot, and I think do the casting.
I'm such a Ritchie fan but I didn't enjoy Operation Fortune as much as I wanted. It was a fantastic cast. But as much as I respect Aubrey Plaza's talent (so phenomenal in Emily the Criminal) I felt she was miscast. There were other issues or problems with the film but I just didn't enjoy her presence. I didn't buy her power. In The Gentlemen Ritchie cast Kaya Scodelario and it was a perfect choice. She provided the intelligence, wit and authority needed in order to believe her character and the storyline. I loved watching her calmly face and fix every disaster. Can't wait for S2.
I enjoyed it so far, BUTT i think I'm on only episode 3-5....ish....
I thought it was fun!
I liked the king Arthur movie a lot.
Wrath of Man was pretty good
I get that I would rather have 1 big plot twist. Worst trope is having 2 plot twist were one cancels out the other.
Everything you said! I'm not even sure why you even ask us to leave a comment really. But I'll say this, Guy Ritchie was probably trying to get out of the British Tarantino(or Tarantino B) category with all those McDonald's movies he was making. Some ppl are just better number 2s. Hopefully this is him understanding that, even tho it's not exactly a return to form as u said. If Lock Stock is his Reservoir Dogs, it's even better, and Pulp Fiction is jus barely better than Snatch! Not too shabby for being in another guy's shadow. NPI.
I liked Wrath of Man quite a bit
The gentleman on Netflix? I found it unwatchable. He needs to do part two of Rock n Roller
It's total cheese.
Guy Ritchie hasn't made much since Lock! Although he's got ideas 😮

Snatch?
Its better than the movie... The movie is cheesy where this is way less chessy
As an English bloke it is ok but just feels same old same old since Lock Stock he has basically stuck to the same idea. English cliches across the class barriers, ultra violence contrasted with gentle mundane humour. He peaked with Snatch and just repeated himself ever since
Not great, not terrible...
oh no you don't...i remember the lock stock spin off tv show that came out back in the day and im not exposing myself to that level of cringe ever again.
It's idiotic, a ridiculous pastiche that completely lacks the gritty, cool and fun style that guy Ritchie created with Lock, stock... and snatch. It's dumbed down, predictable garbage packaged in some sort of caricature of British aristocracy. I loved lock stock, both the movie and the tv series, snatch is brilliant, but this hurt to watch, total and utter shit.
His new movie is good except for the woke slop b characters that never existed they market it as the heros that inspired james bond but none of them were b
Don’t bother, its shite.
Looks like diarrhea.
I thought it was crap. Ritchie going back to what made him because its all he can sell. Try hard embarrassing humour in many scenes and overdone performances and condescending lectures with text on screen in case anyone is too thick to follow whats being said. Most annoying was the build up to a big shoot out which then doesnt happen for reasons for which I assumed were more to do with the fact they filmed in an actual mansion than not wanting to have such a scene in the series. Boring and overhyped like 99% of anything people hype on Netflix. Im also sick of Giancarlo Esposito being type cast. His brilliant turn as Gus Fring will have him playing emotionless business types for the rest of his career.

It's literally the best thing he's done in ages specially in the British gangster realm
Is the series a sausage fest just like all of his movies?
Not great, forgettable. Should have made it a straight to Netflix movie. Repetitive, not realistic , too many gaps in story, doesn’t show you motivation. Suzzie glass is bad actress and a badly written part. The crazy brother is about the most interesting thing in it. It’s a slapstick comedy. That’s it.
This looks awful. If you want to take me out of a WW11 show, then cast a roided out 300lb bleach blonde Alan Ritchinson with a bow and arrow. He looks like Godzilla stomping Tokyo. That alone is enough to treat this like the crap it is.

It's not awful, it has some cheesy elements but it's pretty cool overall. And the music is fire. The characters are superb though, lotta great characters there.

What are you talking about ?
Hate Guy Ritchie. The idea of a privileged toff doing gangster films just rubs me the wrong way. Scorsese uses first-hand accounts; Ritchie uses imagination.

Guy Ritchie has talent. He is brilliant and has launched a number of actors careers. Or if not raised their profiles. He has a genuine hand in English culture which is why the gentleman series surprised me with how (sh*t) it is. It’s like he’s taking the mick out of Netflix and their audience
