Dude said he was not going to ramble on and on about the problem, but go right into fixing it. Then he rambles on and on, doing exactly what he said he wouldn't. Worthless.

I'm not sure if this Video predates Tamrons SP G2 Line, or not. But, if not why didn't you use the Tap-in Console? I just recently picked up a beastly Tamron 150-600 G2. I'm not sure if its front or back focusing or not on my old 5DMkII, but at 0 correction nothing is really sharp. And, sometimes I think it's -15, other times it seems out by +5. Im lucky enough to have a 3d printer, so I printed a target scale I just have to set it up tomorrow when the stores reopen after Good Friday. As I need to glue a few bits together.

The reason why you're not making money is because you're trying to sell what people don't want. Nobody wants prints anymore, it's not the 90s. Everything is digital and on social media. If you want to make money, you do what any other event photographer does - get paid in advance. That way you don't have to worry about them putting their kid on Instagram with watermark across his face.

Thanks Vincent. Very informative. I know you made this video a long time ago, but I just wanted to let you know it is still useful today. I'm a hobbyist that recently bought a very reasonably priced second hand Sigma EX 70-200mm f/2.8 DG HSM OS lens, to replace/complement an old Nikon 80-300mm f/4.5-5.6G lens I've had for years. I wanted to test the f/2.8 that all the professional photographers seem to rave about. However, I was concerned to lose that extra reach, which had come in useful in the past, especially for the occasional wildlife images I sometimes shoot. The Sigma x1.4 EX DG teleconverter sounds like the right solution for me to give me a similar reach to what I had before, even if there is a slight loss of image quality. Thanks for touching on the issues with the newer TC-1401 which I was also wondering about. Thanks for putting the video together for us. 👍

Great tips! As my son starts another season of wrestling, I'm reminded of how hard this sport is to shoot compared to most other outdoor sports I do. The tip for using the ref's grey shirt for WB is awesome. Another good tool I used was at the last meet, there was a white sheet of paper hanging from each timing table that ended up in the background of many of my shots. That worked brilliantly for WB. I'm tempted to bring a stack of paper to each meet and just politely ask if I could tape one to the table if there isn't one already there. I also liked your tip for organizing photos by mat as I encountered a similar problem with drastically different colored mats. I have found that using a 50 mm prime with my crop frame D7000 works quite well. I do still have to crop some images after, but overall the results are great.

Common sense video! You nailed it when you mention that a lot of us are harder on ourselves than anyone else. I've apologized a few times for some photos I've posted on FB, but the parents and grandparents love them as a rule. My theory is this, a maybe not tack sharp pic is better than no pic.

WOW!! You feel our pain of high school sports photography!! My local football stadium lighting is really bad, as are a lot of other local schools. Your opening statement about it being a battle of shutter speed vs. ISO. It's good to hear from someone who understands that not many of us are shooting in professionally lit venues. Yeah, I subscribed too! Thanks again.

I have a 150-600 Sigma with bad out of the box focus, have now ordered the sigma dock, and was wondering about the distance to set up my focusing target using a crop sensor camera. Should I make an adjustment of 1.6 times 150mm times 25mm to establish where to place my subject and then 1.6 times 600mm times 25mm to move the subject target?

I'm using a Sony a7iii with a 28-200 Tamron for high school basketball. If my ISO is 6400 or higher, sharpness / noise is evident. Would shooting in raw, at ISO of 1200 with 1/200th of a second is a good compromise. I use CS4 Photoshop and wouldn't fixing brightness in Photoshop be a lot cleaner then trying to remove noise without losing sharpness in post?
