The Monterrey Pop festival was one of the first music events that was made into a movie. At the time of this event, Janice was virtually unknown, so this was the band's breakout event. Also, younger fans weren't quite used to standing up in appreciation for performances yet (weird, right?). The Mamas and the Poppas helped put the festival together with the idea of promoting the "San Francisco Sound," so yes, Mama Cass was in the VIP seats for this event - but clearly she hadn't heard Janice yet either. Janice was only 24 at the time of Monterrey Pop, and only 27 years old when she died. I think her version of "Get It While You Can" might be the most revealing song about her attitude towards life. She is certainly missed.

She released four new songs in 2023- Breakable, That Girl Don't Live Here, Call Me Back, Monsters (all audio/visuals) and Christmas Rocks (audio only). This is the next step, Courtney writing and singing her own songs (with Kevin Bowes). They are ALL as good as the covers and the performances. Plus, she says that she is finished with her album but it needs editing until it is released. I would expect no later than July. She has also said that she really wants to perform. Please may she perform somewhere close to my home. If not, I will find a place where I can see her live.

The second verse was not in her AGT performance but was when she performed it in Vegas.

She was on AGT at the age of 13 in 2018, so she is a very young 11 years old. I wish I could sing like that when I was 11 years old. It is in her DNA. I agree with you.

She has said that her first album IS complete, but needs to be refined before it is released. She has clearly said that, once the album is released, she wants to do performances THIS YEAR (2024).

In April of 2024, Courtney did this song as an opening for an honors for Clive Davis at Carnegie Center with the New York Pops. She killed it as always, She has also sung Me and Bobby McGee and Mercedes Benz by JJ. Me and Bobby McGee is awesome. She sings it on her bed and goes bonkers as only one with her talent can do.

She says that she heard it on U Tube and fell in love with it. She does not like regular pop music but loves the flow of soul. No one in her family is musically inclined except for her dad's relative Cilla Black. Anyone in England knows her. Her producer was Brian Epstein of Beatles fame.

I actually did the math for how much they were selling a bottle of water for in today's money. And let's not forget that everyone's water was taken from them when they went in. 😮 Anyway, thr first day, they were selling a bottle of water for $4, which today would have been $14. By the third day, they were selling it for $12, which today would have $42! Are they kidding? And then, the free fountains were tinted brown and were contaminated so badly by feces, people were getting trench mouth! 😮😮😮

You were more interested in Courtney Hadwin than the legendary breakout performance you were supposed to be reacting to. Your loss. JJ's talent was relentless and undeniable, and not of this world. But her success, which was achieved in about two years, came from grinding rehearsal and endless touring. She reels you in with her expression and dynamic range, and her mastery of polyphonic vocal distortion, which has never been equaled. Then she guts you. It sounds improvised, but that could not be more wrong -- every nuance was rehearsed, refined, and she could sing it perfectly the same way, night after night after night. Which she did. This perfirmance was radical; no pop singer sounded like her. Absolutely none. In those days women cultivated a "pretty" sound, like Joan Baez or the Supremes. The audience was left stunned and shattered. Clive Davis (the president of Columbia Records) was there, and called this performance "absolutely riveting and hypnotic and compelling and soul stirring in such a way that she was representative of an epiphany that changed the rest of my life." He signed them soon after, buying out their previous contract for $250,000. When JJ stepped off that stage in 1967, music was changed forever.

If it my loss, then so be it. I love the fact that you are so passionate about JJ. Kudos to you. Thanks for the comment and hopefully you can continue to educate people on what they should or should not be feeling lol. Hopefully all is well and you have a wonderful day!

@@Humbled_Mumbles I like to watch folks get floored by this, and there are a lot of first reaction videos of this performance. In most cases their mouth drops open for the first time, around 5:05 (in your video), but a few don't hear it. It's ok, people hear different things. However, in most cases, the reviewer's attention is on the music that was being made there in Monterey in 1967.

I remember when Heidi on AGT said that she was unique because of her music selections. Most her age sing pop music. She is gritty and hard and she does it sooooo well. She has released four different of her own songs. She has covered Aerosmith at least twice, so it may be. Her biggest fan base is older men who are still in that genre. She is one of a kind and I hope we see much more. I do believe we will get an album in 2024.
