A mediocre action game, and an abysmal FF. Awful story, 2d characters, decent music. Sacrifices good storytelling for the shock value of an M rating. Overall, I resent this game for existing and consider it a blight on the FF name.

The xp choices are not correct. Midday just gives normal xp throughout the entire playthrough. Also, the threshold is 40, not 37.
Two become One is better than you give it credit. It's stats are good from the end game and anti-form can beat the shit out of most bosses with hit stagger lol
Yeah after failing to do this fight on crit enough times I decided screw it and Im now going through everything again on standard difficulty. Sometimes you just need to know when it's time to lower the difficulty.

With all of the baseless critiques about this game on the internet, your level headed and nuisance critique of this game is very refreshing. I agree that they could've added a bit more RPG elements like debuffs without taking player expression away, and the difficulty could've been improved upon as well. But the hate for this game from people makes it seem like this is FF2 in terms of quality. Great review!

Hi! Thank you for this ranking! It's always fun and interesting to see what others feel about these (mostly) great games. For me, I haven't played all of them and I've finished very few so I can't judge/rank all of them but my favorite so far is FF8. No doubt. I like FF10, and the FF13 trilogy alot. FF13 trilogy as a whole is interesting and worthwhile to play, at least for me. FF12 is ok. FF1 was good too. Haven't played 2->7 yet but will eventually come to it. FF9 good. In my opinion FF7 and FF9 are over hyped and nostalgia tinged for many people. Maybe FF8 is nostalgia tinged for me? Maybe. Playing FF15 now and I like it. The battle isn't my favorite. I dislike the "action" type battles. I liked FF10-2, I thought it was great and fun. I liked that it was very unlinear and also the clothes changing battle thing (forgotten what it's called, haha!) Anyway, cheers! :)

Lol these takes are either objectively dumb or are takes a majority of the fanbase agrees with. I only have a few I could actually consider a 'hot take' and that's that GBA CoM > PS2 CoM and it's also the best KH side game. People saying that it's a dumb battle system are telling on themselves that they just button mash through the main titles.

Not a final fantasy fan. But i really enjoyed this game. Got the platinum trophy. Would definitely replay it again.
In regard to cid saying who knows who ultima is, someone brought up a great point that he was the lord commander for barnabas. Since barnabas is a religious lunatic it makes sense that he brought up ultima to cid and that’s what drove cid away from waloed
That may be possible, or at the very least Cid spied on Barnabas while under him to figure this out.

Also if I recall, the ultimania confirmed that barnabas knew cid was a dominant and would purposefully make him lord commander knowing he would eventually flee waloed to pursue destroying the mother crystals (part of ultimas plan). So effectively, barnabas brought all of the dominants together one way or another for Clive to take from them
