Survival instincts can be one hell of a sum bitch. Got kicked out at 17 and instantly had to lock in even if my brain didnt want to. Its the access to having a way out of any situation (living with parents, not growing up) My grandmother treated me like a flightless baby bird. Either you make it or you don't when thrown out the house and there isnt a single day that goes by that im not grateful for the tough love she gave me. It sucked but atleast I can take care of myself now and handle more stress than I would have before.

What she saying is true but the half truth. You see kids today are well aware of what is going on. Most of them are not even going to spend all their time and effort to just suck it to the boss who doesn’t get it. They will say oh back in my day cliché. What they failed to realize is that it’s about them first which is why they aren’t listening! Than they don’t get the math or the logistics of going to work and back plus the rent is always going up because they wanna get rich!! 🤑 failing to realize that kids today don’t have it easy as them. So they just say no I won’t even try to work or get a job! It’s because it’s useless when you are trying to tell someone you need help but aren’t willing to listen in the first place. That’s the problem.

@@donnydarko1898 No, there really isn't. Pretty much every book says something different and parenting classes are completely different as well. There is no "official" way to raise a child and there never has been. Even back in the 40's and 50's when there was literature for pretty much everything. Depending on the source of that literature the information was completely different. I would know, as I have been collecting vintage homemaker materials for years as a traditional wife and stay at home mother. There were definitely more popular reading materials back then but they were definitely all different. One thing I will point out is the more popular books ignored religion entirely to hit a larger audience making them not very helpful for mothers trying to raise godly children. Then you have parenting books created by the actual religious organizations and parenting materials created by companies trying to get you to purchase products. The most common chapters in all the books are going to be infant age (because kids haven't formed a personality yet) and dietary needs (because use of the food pyramid was super popular back then).

The trend right now is "gentle parenting" and "help your child focus on their feelings." It's going to go down in history like bottle propping. Certainly very well intended, but it's REALLY not working.

I mostly agree with you. With one exception. The reality is that a parent does actually own their child. You write them off as a tax deduction each year just like a home, or a piece of land, and just like a large breed dog, a parent is financially responsible for the things a child does. Technically a child is property. However, the right thing to do is to raise a child as if they are not property.
