So my picture libraries that I dragged and dropped from a Time Machine back up from my older computer, seems like some of the pictures on there are blank, but still has the information in it. and some videos are missing thumbnails on the video, how do I fix that?
Oh man, I just know why I NEVER EVER wanted any kind of apple device in my home. So my daughters nagged and nagged and finally I caved they got their iPhone. I was thinking, any kind of problem they're on their own. Just don't want to dig into that hell, I don't want to learn that dumbed down shit. Satisfied enough with linux on desktop and android phone. So now they want to backup their pictures on a PC (windows) to then be able to delete the pictures since the units are getting full. So, using regular usb connection (PTP) and accessing the internal storage was of course no go, the copying just was interrupted after a while, stating it cannot find whatever it decided to copy. Fantastic. So then I read about that windows have the "Apple Devices" app to copy the images, videos and whatever. That one just says the phone uses "iCloud pictures" and that I have to turn off the iCloud pictures app. There is no clear or easy way to do that in the uninmaginable crappy settings interface on the phone, unless it starts to delete the iCloud stored pictures. We never asked for any iCloud, we never wanted any iCloud but through the initial installation we seam to have accepted it anyway and still it wouldn't give us a reliable way to know what pictures was stored in the cloud and what on the device. I want to do ONE f*ing simple thing, copy pictures from an iPhone to my PC, how hard can it be. I can't express in words my hate for everything apple and iCrap. On my androids I can easily set up SFTP, samba, even ssh if I want (even the slow and unreliable MTP works). In iPhone it's just a complex mess and I still haven't been able to copy the pictures and videos (oh yes, I get a "Photo Database" file of 892 bytes, that's all).. Rant over, thanks for the video..

Question , I want to change my cox email as my apple ID with a GMAIL that is associated with apple ID already , can that still be done or I need a fresh email that is no associated with any of my apple id or cloud etc ...?
Joel. Tough to watch for me. Here are a few reasons. It is dated now and I know you are aware of that but I liked the recommendations and wanted to try you. My operating system is different as I am using a macbook air. use google chrome and not safari as a browser (if that matters). Also, I have subtitles on as I have a bit of difficulty hearing you clearly so I can't see what you are doing behind the displayed words. Hope some of this is helpful in making future videos.
Hi @diggergrad! I appreciate the feedback. The video is a little dated, but still relevant for users running the same operating systems. If Google Chrome is your primary browser and you don't use Safari on your Mac, then this video wouldn't be much help. iCloud Keychain Passwords primarily work for Safari. Google has their own password management within their browser. As far as the subtitles go, I unfortunately don't have any control on the placement of those. THANK YOU so much for watching! Did not work for me :( I can click the minus sign on my primary email as apple id. I can enter the new email. A popup tells me to continue at Apple-ID on system preferences on my Mac but.. nothing has happened there. Popup says it sends out an email swell but nothing has been sent. Nothing in spam folders or thrash can etc.. so i might give up. Don't know what to do. UPDATE: i managed to fix it. I logged in via my mobile phone. I had it added under trusted devices. When i clicked minus sign on my primary apple id and entered the new email it was finally successful and i can now login with my new id. Did not work via Safari browser on my Mac. Could be useful information to others!

iCloud is NOT a backup. I pay for iCloud, but deleted my phone backups without warning. All my late wife's texts to me were lost.

not working for me on a 2021 14' MacBook Pro M1, keeps saying (The library "Photos Library.photoslibrary'' failed to be repaired). I've created multiple library's and install fails to open any of them can someone please help

Apple is horrible for backups
Hello Joe, I am having some troubles on merging the 2 libraries. I am doing all steps, the photos are being detected and when I click import all new items (3100), it doesnt do the job. The photo app closes the library from where i want to import the photos from "device" and the photos are not being imported. Any suggestion?

My iPhone 15 Pro Max won’t show the display with dual widgets. It shows them and after a minute it goes blank.
No more "iCloud" for me. I want MY files inside MY iPad, and that's it. It was ridiculous that I sent an email to myself, a big one, and received it hours or days later. So much BS in the apparatus "syncing" it first, then actually sending the email. I turn on my regular computer, send the email, and get it within 2 seconds. There´s no other way.

Thanks you so much! One question : I really dont understand the diffrence with "My Albums" then ? What is the difference between "My Album" and "Shared Album" if you can just create "Shared Album" that are not shared ?
You're welcome very much @Arthur_Marie! So "My Albums" is your own personal organization of photos just for you. They reference the high quality original files from your Photo Library. The "Shared Albums" are designed to share selective photos with anyone and everyone if they don't have an Apple Device. Another big difference is that Apple will scale the quality down of the files put in a Shared Album. The other option that you'll see is a shared library, which allows you to share your entire library automatically or manually if you want with someone else. My biggest beef is that Apple will not Alphabetize my 50+ albums. Sure I can spend hours doing g it manually but gee they somehow managed to alphabetize my contacts!!!🧐Apple can be so frustrating, and I don’t want to switch to Android I just want Apple to make more sense! (( and 3 yrs later, Apple still has not done this))
I hear ya @123craftygal! It can be very annoying! Do you have a Mac by chance?! If you do you can actually sort your Albums within Apple Photos and it will sync to your iPad and iPhone! If this is the case, just "Right Click" on "My Albums" on the left side within Apple Photos and you will have three options to sort: By Name By Oldest First By Newest First I hope that helps! Hi @terrybono5995 You most likely have "Stolen Device Protection" turned on that was recently added in an iOS update. This is another layer of security that doesn't allow to change certain info related to your Apple ID if you're not at a Significant location. It's a good thing, but can be a pain. This feature can be turned off and on again. Hi @overkillphil514! Apple recently updated the website and doesn’t show that box for the standalone Apple ID option! They moved it to the “Email & Phone numbers” section. When you select that, you will see a little circle with a minus sign next the email. Click that and it will give you the option to change the Apple ID email address. THANK YOU so much for watching! Now I set up my external drive Photos as the Systems Library. I need it to download the iCloud photos that I didn't back up for 2 years. Do you think it will just synch on its own. Should I be using the computer while it works at the background or just leave it and not touch it? How do I start the downloading process? Thank you so much

My issue is that I transferred all my data to my external hard drive before I I formatted my internal disk and now that I plugged my external hard drive into my Mac it states it’s uninitialised. I know for sure I have files on there. Are you able to assist. Do you have an an email address.

Wow, you are very details. But I am now very confused. I have three iCloud accounts because I do not like them to sync.
I've seen similar "exclusion" methods in which, as in your example, you wish to backup a single folder. But it allows you to select that single folder, then INVERT the selection, so that the exclusion becomes everything BUT the folder you want backed up. Can Time Machine do this, perhaps?
