I’m 52 stage four arthritic right hip left hip looks good. Arthritic knees, lower back arthritis facet joint arthritis in the cervical spine. My doctor said my spine looks about 80-year-old man. Start a 25 mg of deca on top of my low-dose TRT my test levels are good up in the 900 range all other labs, good thyroid, good but the amount of relief that I’m getting in all my arthritic joints is amazing at only a dose of 25 mg a week. Glad you’re on it. We definitely should not be burying our heads in the sand with these health issues. Thankfully we have individuals like you educating us. I’ve actually never heard of this calcium score test until I started a carnivore diet eleven months ago and my doctor became very concerned. Even though I lost fifteen lbs and look, feel better she’s definitely not a fan of a meat only diet. She recommended the calcium score test. Honestly I was a bit apprehensive because at 57 years old I was a raging sugar addict most of my life. It wasn’t until I started on TRT 10 years ago that I took a better approach on my health and diet. Anyways to my surprise I scored zero across the board. Do you think there is a hereditary connection to this? My great grandparents, and grandparents mainly succumbed to cancer or Alzheimer’s related conditions. But no coronary artery disease that I could find.

I am currently on TRT. I also have Gilbert's Syndrome ( I don't know if this plays a factor). My current levels of Hematorcrit are 0.532 L/L and my Hemoglobin levels are 177 g/L. My MCV is around 96. As a result of my Gilbert's my platelet count is 134 xE9/L. I should also mention that I have PTSD and moderate obstructive sleep apnea. ( I have difficulty using my CPAP at night , usually only getting 2-3 hours of sleep with it on and the rest of my sleep with it off) My levels of Hematocrit have slowly creeped up over the years of being on TRT. Just recently after getting my blood results my Clinic has done exactly what you are talking about. Basically scaring me, telling me I MUST go make a blood donation and if the levels don't come down they will take me off TRT altogether. Can I please have your feedback?

The only thing that worried me was that when I started TRT, you need to watch out for breast tissue growth. I am not worried about that now, nor my estrogen/estrodial levels but I was at first because I had heard horror stories. One question for you all, why do some guys develop breast tissue that looks sort of female, fatty tissue while on TRT? Is that not estrogen related? Gynecomastia is what I am thinking about. Is that more steroid abuse related? Thanks all.

I have a question sir, what happens to an androgen after interacting with androgen receptor? does the AR change it into something else or does it unbind from the receptor and gets disposed of or goes to another AR?

  • @manmedicine

Testosterone leaves the receptor and is conjugated with glucuronic acid and sulfuric acid in the liver to form androsterone glucuronide and etiocholanolone glucuronide, respectively. The conjugated metabolites are then excreted in the urine. They are also metabolized by bacteria in the gut.
