The 4l60 has two advantages it is light and it has a 3:1 low gear. It can be built strong but probably never as strong as a 4l80. For example the Sonnex input shaft and drum is going to set you back more than what it would cost you to buy and build a 4l80. My conclusion is if you want a HD transmission, start with an HD transmission. If you don't have room for anything bigger than the 4l60 you're stuck with spending a fortune on something that at it's core is medium duty, that you can get by with.

If you were to redo this test today, what would be the main changes you would make? Which VS turbo was in the video when you mentioned much better options? And finally if there were no limitations for hood clearance, what intake would you run with this type of setup?

You should make a video comparing 4.6/5.4 intakes to the coyote intakes with the adapter plates for the earlier mod motors

The only reason I will change the 351m in my truck (79-F150) will be for a powerstroke 7.3 . Other than that I’ll just keep on upgrading its parts . Last run I had was with a 2014 bmw , I didn’t won but I didn’t lose either, this engine just keep surprising me. By the way I have only removed the emission system so far. Next will be the intake manifold (4 barrel) then the camshaft. Wish me luck 🍀

Hit it with 100hp and you’ll make the same numbers as those aftermarket heads did and cost less at the same time

the factory rods and pistons are the best part of those LT1's. Find a good factory bore older block and put them in. Throw the rest away.

Great video bud, props from Australia. I understood every unbiased explanation on these 2 engines. One query I have tho is head size? Chamber on both?? Coz I may be wrong but from my limited experience most ls engines share the same stroke from 5.7 to 6.2? That said we never got any iron blockbls engines here in Oz so not as familiar. But if my GM knowledge is right then the 5.3 n 6.0 share same stoke? The extra ci comes from bigger bore? Reason for asking is bigger bore = bigger heads to match...so I don't wanna be the devils advocate or a pain in butt, but wouldn't that mean that the cubic inch difference is not a fair comparison?? Yes .7 of a Litre is a big difference but no mention of heads etc....I may be way off so happy to be corrected..and I'm not saying the comparo is flawed...simply that ci is not the only factor to consider in this....headflow 101 lol...FYI od go the 6.0 😁

I think friction reduction isn’t as easily measured in HP as it may be In oil temps etc, I’m personally going to reduce friction anywhere I can, even if HP gain is minimal
