What? Not enough housing because the old get burned down and took much air pollution in the process.

Apart from demonstrating the destructive nature of North Americans and desire to pollute the environment these burn down exercises appear to be completely pointless with little or no actual worthwhile training or learning taking place!

Actually the 6 stage two position pump could pump 8800 gpm at 350 psi in the volume (parallel position) or 4400 gpm at 700 psi in the pressure (series position). This was from draft. If supply was a pressurized then some more. All fire apparatus pumps capacity are rated at draft. It weighs 68000 pounds.There are few actual films out there of this operating and I have not seen any on the internet. I saw this operate myself and I know there are films. Maybe somebody has some. It would be impressive to show folks that were not in the era of it’s operation.

Yes, been working great. Just put the wheel barrow in front of coop and rake it out. Super easy... emptying the coop and putting in new litter is a 10 min job.

@rbljackson Жыл бұрын
Just found your channel and this video because we are looking to start with chickens this year. I was curious how the heated waterer worked out inside the coop. For winter months, I think you may be on to something there. Any issues with it? My thought would be to do the same thing, but block off most of that box area so they can just access the water and not throw a bunch of straw etc up into that nest box. Any thing else you would do different? I like the idea of the vents that hinge from the top to keep rain out. That is one thing that I think is being overlook by a lot of people. Airflow is important, but keeping the driving rain out is just as important too.
@toddhower8215 Жыл бұрын
I have opted to keep the heated waterer in run. I set it on a cement block in the doorway to the run.

They don't make them like this any more. British and American engineering at it's best. The engine used was a British Napier Deltic also used in boats and locomotives. 2400hp - these engines went on for ever.

The thing that was unique about the Deltic engine was that whilst all three cranks rotated in the same direction, one had an intermediate gear allowing it to sync with the other two onto the central output shaft otherwise there would have been contention between all three crank shafts. This was the clever part of the engines design

The nice thing about the CHIRP Software is you can also disable all transmitting all together on both VHF and UHF. I bought this radio due to my working as an Armed Private Security Officer. I recently had a drive-by shooting take place near one of the sites I work at, I purchased this radio so I can use it strictly as a scanner so I can know what is happening around me while working, and I wont transmit until I get my GMRS and HAM licensing. I've really enjoyed the radio for the few short days I've had it so far.

Good question, Our chickens were not laying yet so we blocked off the nesting boxes to keep them clean. As soon as one of them laid an egg we removed the barrier so they can use them for laying. They immediately starting using the small box in the far corner.

As loved by the crews this thing must have been it's was just too massive and heavy. Too massive to fit in some tunnel under the Hudson and too high of axle pressure to travel over some bridges. Didn't help in it's later years that all replacement parts had to be custom machined as one off parts and it took too long to machine some of those parts. Probably the most bad assed fire truck after an Oshkosh P15 8x8 airbase crash tender.
@harrisongrant85589 ай бұрын
Part of the problem is that it was not an American-built engine- the Napier Deltic was a British-built engine that was designed for marine applications. The only people who could have even supplied parts for the engine would be Napier themselves, the Royal Navy, or British Rail. British Rail actually had to fabricate a lot of their own parts for their fleet of Deltics, and that's part of why they retired them in 1982.
