So what I got from this was to not just emulate the picture exactly as you see it using theory (lambert cosine law etc), but to instead to use it as a guide to essentially create a more pleasing/elegant illusion of form which indicates a higher quality of draftsmanship correct? How can one efficiently learn to deform (deform as in simplify) the image as you have to create a higher quality image. Does it just come from a lot of practice and experience or is there a general guideline or process you follow? Love your works.

Hi Dorian, I saw that on the Proko website you had a course on shading which looks really good and which would interest me a lot. However, this course is very expensive whereas more than half of its content is available for free on the site (I also noticed that some premium videos from the site are available for free on KZread). So I'm wondering if it's really worth paying so much for the course (would you recommend it? If so, for what reasons?)

This is the clearest explanation I have seen! I noticed that at 4:23, the red line marking terminator seems to be missing two segments? There are three segments of terminator caused by the nose, lips, and chin blocking lights, but only the segment for the last one (the slant line on the neck) is shown.

I took your course on Proko, and It has changed my artistic journey!!!! Thank you, thank you very much I came here to say thank you. I struggled for almost a year to understand value, light, shadow, and how to read what's going on in an image, and your course gave me immense clarity. It was like a lightbulb had switched on in my head. It's really hard to find a good teacher when you don't go to art school, and some teachers don't go into details, just surface info. I enjoyed all your assignments, but I love your light probes assignment even more. Please do more detailed courses like this. Again, Thank you very much!!! It means a lot

This is a beautiful work of art and story. I knew Patrick 25 years ago and had dinner at his home with his family several times when I was a missionary in Princeton, NJ. He was working on the allegory of the resurrection at the time, and I got to see it before it was finished. What a gift that was! It is exciting to see this work and how he is still sharing his art. Amazing!!
