HaWiWe, spelled out Hans-Wilhelm-Werkstatt, is named after my late grandfather who loved woodworking and tinkering in his very tiny workshop. With this channel I try to honour his memory, having the logo made from snippets of letters he wrote. I know he would have been astonished by how far technology has come, a CNC in a private workshop that you can print would have been unthinkable for him. So: Cheers to my grandfather, may his spirit live on in my workshop.
I am posting videos and clips from my workshop, mainly of Der Froschkönig, my MPCNC LowRider 3 (created by V1Engineering, thanks Ryan!). If you want to, come say hello in the forums. You can also find my build thread there: forum.v1e.com/t/der-froschkonig-lowrider-3-in-oldenburg-germany/35897
If you are interested in the MPCNC Primo that has been featured in all of my videos until February 2023, you can find the build thread here: forum.v1engineering.com/t/mpcnc-primo-schneewittchen-oldenburg-germany

What were you cutting? :)
It was the grid for the vacuum table. I rarely use it nowadays though. :)
Btw how does Lowrider with the classic router handle hardwoods? Like ash? Do you an experience with that? I know you have different spindle now - that probably doesn't care, does it? :)
@@djVania08 It does not matter, I did a big inlay with ash before: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2Vrp9ZwoNXVn5s.html.
Gorgeous! Let's see a close-up please!
Thanks Steve! :) There‘s a closeup in the forum, you can find it here: forum.v1e.com/t/5-colour-inlay-cutting-board-san-from-princess-mononoke/44287.
@@HaWiWe Nice!!!! One of my favourite films. You mentioned a tutorial -- Where is that?
@@StevePotter Hey Steve, you can find it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nqycutuvY5y1mJs.html. There is a German version as well if you want to brush up on your German. :)
There is no way I would be able to actually use something so nice with a knife. Most action a board like that would see in my house is some cheese, I wouldn't even trust crackers on that thing.
Great job! Impressive.
@@HaWiWe Auf jeden Fall 🙌🙌🙌🙌
These strips that the LR rides on, what is the minimal width (left / right)? Thank you :)
I am really not sure. I just eyeballed those. The minimum for the left one should be around 4 or 5 cm (block for the belt and bearing/roller), on the other side the rail has to fit.
@@HaWiWe Okay, so 10 cm on each side should be enough I guess. Thank you :)
If I get that right, you have the machine raised to the thickness of a spoilboard? So you can switch you spoilboard easily without disassembling the unit? Is that so? Thank you very much.
Yes, that‘s correct, there are plywood strips left and right the height of the spoilboard the LR is running on. I can just swap the board if it is used up.
Funny, I just clicked your channel and saw that I had already watched your video. Pretty cool!
@@HaWiWe Thanks a lot. So would you recommend one sheet of something, say OSB. And then another sheet used as spoilboard but having essentialy cut it into 3 long pieces in which 2 of them support the machine on the side, they are thin. And the rest is used as spoilboard? Do I get that right? What if I would just put it directly on one of the sheets without this modification?
@@HaWiWe I already commented couple of times on your video, I think. So that might be reason why. :) (I am glad you liked it!)
@@zemlejna1 That explains it. :) Glad my answers seem to be good enough to come back to. I am really bad at remembering names. :P
Great video! I like that you post the kind of mill, feedrates, DOP.. excellent. I have a lowrider 2 but im considering to change to a LR 3.
Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback! If you want to switch I recommend you wait for a month or two, Ryan is trying out a few improvements so there might be a LR4 soonish. :)
@@HaWiWe Excellent information! So I will wait because im not hurry. I like the content of your channel, subscribed, thank you
makita or other model router machine have worst idea add to cnc machine because can buy 100-150$ lot lot better strongest REAL spindle , etc, 800W real spindle have all specification torgue lot more than woodworkers 1200W router motor, and second real spindle air cooled or water cooled have lot lot more silent than all worst cheap routers and dremel tools ewer. and bearings have plan used to cnc not hand router bearing has good, broken fast. why waste money worst router tols if can same money buy good silent accurate real spindle. my spindle 800W air cool ER16 spindle have lot strongest and silent than any hand woodworking router what have shop, about lot better torgue spindle than 1900W router have, can working cnc lot fasten and more chip than worst noisy router.
The Makita is plenty for the LowRider, the LowRider's flex itself is the limit most of the times. There is no real difference between the Makita and the AMB (which is a spindle) with 1400W.
@@HaWiWe i has before makita but totally NOT have cnc machine good motor, bearings has worst and noise has horriple, and torgue has weak. i upgrade REAL aircooled 800W spindle noise end totally next room any not hear run cnc or not, lot more torgue can run lot more speed and feed. and bearings have lot better than any router have. but newermind, this is my skill whit 30 year at cnc machines.
@@mattivirta I never said your opinion isn't valid. Yes, the Makita is loud, the AMB is more quiet, but the cutting sound is louder anyway. The runout isn't as great either, but good enough for a CNC mainly made out of plastic. It is not a professional CNC, after all.
on PVC it could be a little faster i think
It might. The limiting factor is the flex in the gantry. :)
Great job! That shaper thing looks like a nice piece of equipment!
Sieht sehr gut aus!
Was sind Maße deiner Maschine bitte? Und was für Rohren hast du benutzt? Danke dir:)
@@HaWiWe danke dir
Nice! Neat practical project. Cheers for the walk through!
Nice! Do you use a shop vac to extract the dust?
Yes, I have a shop vac with a cyclone connected to it with a blast door to adress either the CNC, Boom Arm or Mitre Saw.
Do you have the jackpot board?
This one is using the OpenCNCShield because I wanted to run EstlCAM as the controller as well. My Primo is now equipped with a Jackpot though. :)
@@HaWiWe you are from Germany? I'm from Czechia and wanna source the electronics. What would you recommend please? :)
@@djVania08It really depends on what you want. Most people in the community use the Jackpot and you are going to get the most help with it on the forums. The OpenCNCShield is also great, but you are pretty much on your own. :)
@@djVania08And yes, Germany.
@@HaWiWe I'm talking specifically about the jackpot, yeah. I am new to CNC and want as few obstacles as possible. :)
slay queen
@@HaWiWe Danke dir. Wie bist du denn zurzeit zufrieden damit? :)
@@zemlejna1 Sehr zufrieden, ist ein tolles Teil. :)
Nema 17's?
Yes, and at that time underpowered ones as well. :D
:)@@theunboxers24
Looks great! You have to tell me how you made the x y touch plate work sometime. -Rusty
Thanks Rusty, since I am using Estlcam as the controller as well it is as easy as klicking a button. I don't know how to do it with other controllers regrettably. I rarely use it anyway, twice a year maybe, the rest is eyeballing and using the mousewheel and a piece of paper. Much quicker. :D
Cooles Video.
Jaa, etwas viel vielleicht. :P
this is great, my Lowrider should be together in the next weekend or 2, this will give me some projects to learn on before I start drawing my own, plus I like this system better than pegboard. How long have you been doing this?
I've been doing this for three years now and I had wanted a French Cleat for ages. You can find all my plans for free in the V1E Forum. :) Just search for French Cleat by Tokoloshe. :D
Have you thought about milling aluminum replacement parts for the primo? might improve performance.
The performance is top notch for a plastic CNC, I deliberately pushed the boundaries. Additionally, there aren't really any parts you could do from aluminium. The LowRider can do that though. :)
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌
Sehr gerne. Ich hoffe, es ist halbwegs verständlich. :D
Awesome! Appreciate you sharing your video and profile settings. Great seeing what's possible with LowRider3. Cheers!

Nice! Appreciate seeing how you did the upgrade! Cheers!
Cool!
Did you not use conduit piping or did you do some finishing work to make them so smooth and shiney?
Hey, it's 25mm Stainless Steel tubing, bought in Germany. :)
