I have the Canon R5. When I rented the Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe 2X Macro Lens for Canon EF I knew it was a manual lens. After attaching it to my R5 with an EF to RF adapter, the shutter was not working. I contacted the rental facility and they told me to go to the orange camera in my R5 menu and select the #4 tab "Release shutter w/o lens" and turn it "ON". Without any instructions, you are at a loss without this video.
how can the RF 70-200 2.8 be a 2.8 all along its range? it is physically extending its body so there must be some change on the f-stop. It cannot be a 2.8 all along.
I have the r6 mark ii only had maybe 10 photos before the battery drained .. other than that it sat most of the time turned off for. a week. other uses in that week was changing settings and reviewing the few photos I took. nowhere near 400 + photos.
How/where can you download your R5 Menu guide? Your link takes you to teaching websites unrelated to photography.
Hi I have a question. Do all lavalier microphones work with a canon eos via the microphone little hole in the camera? How do they work exactly? You only put them in the specific microphone hole in the canon?? Thanks 😊
Wow this is a pretty poor click baiting post....think you need some practice with your camera if you can't get good photo's with the 40mm f2.8 lens awesome quality definitely on par with L glass...when used on either FF or Crop sensor canon camera as for the 75-300 when used correctly in creative modes can get some good quality results....
Thanks, Daniel! Super helpful! I especially appreciate you explaining the magnifying glass. That is going to help a ton with manual focus lenses.
You just sold me on the R5ii which I'm sure will be very similar to the R5, GREAT information THANK YOU!!!
Omg thanks for this tip! I have been using the r6 and r6ii and struggled with AWB and mostly avoided it because of the warmth.
It's fine. 24-105 f/4 L is hardly worth the extra money. I considered selling the RF 24-105 F4-7.1 IS as I have better glass (like 24-70 and 70-200), but eventualy decided to keep it, figuring it's a nice enough, inexpensive and light walk around zoom with quiet focusing and good IS. On 24 mm it is even goog for vlogging, as you don't need digital IS.
Just say which buttons to press. We know what a picture is!!!!
So much talking…
But thank you
The Comparison was not done fairly because you did not shoot them all at 50mm, so instead you're actually comparing other things like depth of field from focal length too. Therefore it's not actually very helpful.
If I hear one one reviewer asking why I would want to shoot Jpegs rather than Raw I'm going to explode!! I shoot sports - See it, crop it, wire it - no time for Raw
I'm having an issue with my r6 and I hope you can help me, and that is when trying to switch to another eye or face it keeps going back to the original eye. What am I doing wrong?
For me I think it's any revision of Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 or Nikon equivalent both D and G model. Because it's an absolutely cheapest lenses from film era that has very poor built quality and I don't like it just because of that. Other lenses I don't like are any lenses with power zoom function from any brand as it feel sluggish and unpractical for using it. In term of image quality, I don't want to point out which lenses has bad image quality in anyway, as I don't really notice them (or don't make me much concern when I noticed), all the lenses you have bring up, as far as I have experience of them, can produce good image when condition it right and I can't really notice how they are not sharp, indeed sometime cheap lenses like any F/3.5-5.6 lenses in normal range are sometime a bit hard to handle due to how I have to compromised with not so helpful maximum aperture in many situation but I never think their image look that bad unless I shoot it bad myself. Also, the only wide angle zoom lens I own for my Canon EF 17-35mm f/2.8L USM which I got a long time ago in a pretty much worn down condition that look like it didn't even get hold up together properly as the phrase "canon EF Lenses Ultrasonic" in front of the lens didn't get placed in the right position, but its pictures still very sharp on digital camera and its heavy vignette it something I can accept somewhat in many cases, and to say the lenses from a newer generation like Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L (or even L II) USM or Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM didn't produce acceptable image quality is making me confused. Indeed there're lenses that produced better image quality in the market but I don't really think the older optics which usually are also cheaper are terrible to the point it can't produce image with acceptable quality and should be avoid at all cost. for me, the only lenses that could be considered terrible and should be avoid at all cost in term of image reproduction are any lenses which are fogged out that when you look into the lens by the light source it looks opaque you can barely see anything through it.
Thanks pal! 🎉
Hey brother, do you know if the Rode VideoMic Pro plus is compatible with the Canon R50?
I was literally wondering weither i get the 24 70 f2.8 L usm for 390 or the 28 135 f3.5 to 5.6 for 150 😂😂 i got the L serie 👌
Thanks a lot!
you re so wrong man! 75-300 is a GOOD lens for the price...just dont use it on aps-c
Same info is in the manual.
So good I used the tips then came back for more information & adjustments!
All that dreary chatter and the I thought the pictures were at best very mediocre. Over exposed some bad lighting choices and dreadful composition in my opinion.
😊
Why are the so called "pros" so obsessed with calling lenses "kits". I guess all photographers are only to use $5000.00 dollar "pro" lenses to get good results. An archers metaphor: It's not the arrows , it's the archer.
THANK YOU!! I have only had my mark2 for a few months. The viewfinder display for last month has been driving me nuts. It would only show the settings. I wanted to be able to see image on lcd and take photo or put my eye to viewfinder and switch it to there. Your first sentence said it all, PRESS THE INFO BUTTON. Now works exactly how I want it to and how it was when I first got camera. Thank you thank you thank you
Thanks, in the name of the Father, son and holy spirit ; )
Thank you!!
85mm focal length is a better option over 50mm for portrait photography. Monirul Islam Dhaka, Bangladesh. 10 May 2024
Yeah... You got a bad 40mm my dude. My copy was as sharp as any other L glass i ever shot with and was one of my favourite canon lenses.
Can you shut off flash on the r5
This was very useful thank you. I also had trouble with the flash focus assist beam not activating and discovered it was caused by having servo ai (constant tracking) as the focussing method. As soon as I switched it to single shot, it worked every time.
I tried that but it won't zoom, any advice?
Depends on your need. 50mm and 85mm are for two different purposes. I think 50mm is for all types of photography but 85mm for portrait only. Thanks. Monirul Islam (65) Dhaka, Bangladesh.
I have a 85mm for me it is a great for really close up head shots if in exterior, but for full or medium shots it is better for studio since it blows out the background and we can't see much, maybe it is good also for night shots because of the bokeh. So for exterior, I prefer the 50mm it is more versatile specially when you have more than one person to shoot and there is no space to take some distance.
There are reviews which disagree rather significanty with your dismissal of the 24-105mm kit lens's image quality. Depending on whether or not you mainly shoot in low light, the kit lens may be just as good for one's needs. Here's a review with side-by-side comparisons to prove it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4eur82KYLbQmc4.html
Hello Sir: Please help and give me some advice, The camera I am currently using is Canon EOS R10, The kit lens used with it is (RF-S18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM) My main subject matter is toy photography. The secondary shooting content is street photography or portrait photos. Now I want to buy new lenses, after watching your video, Want to be Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM and RF85mm F2 Macro IS STM or RF 35mm 1.8 STM After making a choice, I would like to ask you to give me some advice on which lens is more suitable for me? Thank you.🙏🙏🙏
Works great. Super simple. Highly recommend
A skilled photographer will achieve stunning results with any of the lenses listed here. Sharp images require good technique even with very high-end glass. Stop belly-aching and improve your chops.
Why film this aiming the camera at a bright window and then not light youself to compensate
FYI, the Japanese pronounce it Bow-kay, not Bow-ka
when shooting in manual mode in the studio, my viewfinder goes dark when I half press the button to focus and shoot. How do I switch that off so I can see the subject? it only does it in manual mode, not in A or T
Why tour camera is shaking on a tripod
Cool comparison. I just ordered the 50. I had many situations where my old EF 85 f/1.4 was simply too tele and bokeh was too much. I look forward to get a hang on putting the environment in a subtle way. The 85 is for the “dreamy” unrealistic shots. Which I (hopefully) still enjoy 😅 That’s my “interpretation”. Sold my 50 f/1.4 and look forward to falling in love with my fav focal length 🤩
Love my rf85 1.2!!! It is awesome!! Great video!!!
No vids in a long while Daniel, you still here??
Hi , thank you for the useful video. I got a question and been looking for the solution for while. I can’t see the different of DOF in live screen nor live view finder. Even though I change to small F stop but it’s seem to showing only Shallow dof only on the screen. So the dof is showing different result of after shot and live view. How can I fix it ?
How do i turn this on a canon r10?
How do you meter using vintage lenses?
