    Amazing! I learned something Extremely useful in the first 90 seconds of this video. I currently have/use an EOS Rebel T6 camera. I knew of the existence of the dioptric knob, and I knew it was used for sharpening the view in the OVF. What I didn't realize was, that it was designed to be used without glasses. I have had my T6 for just about 2 months now and I have been fighting with my glasses every single time i pick up my camera. Now I can slip my glasses up on my head and get right into the OVF without jamming them into my nose. Or better yet, I can slip my glasses down just a tiny little bit and look over the top of my glasses as I look through the OVF. Then if I need to review the photo all I have to do is pull back a few inches and look down at the back panel display. Thank you Daniel for sharing the gem of information. It has made my love of photography just a little bit easier. .

    Hello Daniel, thank you very much. May I ask you 2 questions: first one does R5 eyepiece have an internal cover to stop extraneous light entering the rear of the camera whilst doing long exposures? Secondly as a landscape photographer we were often advised to turn off the image stabilisation (IS) but now we have (IS) in the lens and camera body. What would you advise? For it was said that (IS) goes haywire when switched - on and placed on a tripod. I thank you in advance for your time on this matter...

  • @DanielWhiteWithCanon

    @DanielWhiteWithCanon

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Allan I have no idea about the first question but I imagine there would be no need for a cover since the sensor and the Viewfinder are 100% separate compartments. There’s no physical connection between the two spaces. And to answer your second question yes turning if the IS on the lens will turn off the ibis and is still recommended when using a tripod.

    Hey @Allan Davies, the cover you're talking about was required in DSLRs because in a long exposure light could've easily leaked from the viewfinder, inside was a pentaprism glass connected to the area above the sensor. With the mirrorless cameras such as Canon R5/R6 instead of a pentaprism inside the viewfinder, it's just an electronic display that's not optically connected with the sensor area, so no chance of light leakage from viewfinder in a long exposure. Hence no cover is required.
