Hey! My name is Ian and after being away from the game for more than 8 years I rediscovered Magic: The Gathering again in 2019. After seeing how much the singles and sealed product I had from when I was playing most heavily (2005-2011) would have been worth I decided that I wanted my experience with the game now to be about finding balance between the Player, Collector, and Investor in me.
I still love playing MTG but as much as anything I also love collecting it and now investing in the game as well.
I started this channel because I wanted to share my passion for the game with you. I'll primarily be doing box openings but will also delve into MTG finance conversations and topics too. Thanks so much for checking out my channel!

It’s raining Phlage alleleuia 🎵 🎵 Mate, I got only one Phlage in 5 collector boxes and you got 3 on 1.5! The variance in pack mythics is a thing in this set for sure. I have opened no Ajani’s but 4 Tamiyo’s etc not complaining, but track printing…
I’ve had similar runs. Lots of Tamiyo, Sorin’s, and now Phlage. Not complaints but I still haven’t pulled a Phyrexian Tower for me either.

Oof. I’m sorry to hear that! One of my collector boxes only had one fetch land. The box was still pretty good but only a single fetch was not awesome.

It's wild the amount of duplication that happened in these packs. I would think by now, WotC would be able to figure that out.
Duplication within the same pack is what really gets me… the same box, I sort of get. Pulling multiple copies in the same pack though. That’s not great.

I really like the Compleat foils in this set, the symbols glitter in a very shiny way! Also the name of that art is called Ichor Showcase Also, I wanted to get your opinion: I was thinking about buying 2 AC starter kits due to there being exclusive cards inside it. The Ezio in there seems particularly interesting as it draws cards for assassin combat damage being dealt. I want to open one for my assassin deck and keep the other sealed. I think these will go up as there are playable cards in a product that seems even further under the radar than the main AC set. Thoughts?
Could not remember “ichor” to save my life during the video so thanks! Long term and I mean long term, I think the bundles at $30 at low risk with good upside. There’s some decent playbales in ACR but it does not seem like an overtly powerful set so it feels like pricing will stay subdued for a bit.

Bit of an odd take on this one, but I adored the black and white art from this set. It felt a lot better than the black and white art from Double Feature. Gorgeous box though and that prize pack was bonkers.
I would tend to agree. The funny part is that when the black and white for Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow first appeared people went absolutely crazy for it. Until they/we realized what a pain it was to tell what lands people were playing with…. 😂

These boxes are great because even the commons and uncommons are super playable. 😊
I think product fatigue is real and I think most (including myself) would agree with that sentiment. But as far as what the boxes are worth, that’s relative to the what the market says, right? You definitely don’t need the fancy versions of the cards from the collector boxes to play with. Simultaneously it’s somewhat telling that the price of the box has actually increased slightly since release.

Yeah, great question. I think it already has. These boxes were running as low as $200-$225 for a good amount of time and I opened a lot of those boxes. 😂 But the set has a ton of good playables and big value cards so the boxes couldn’t stay subdued forever and are now pushing $300.

That I have pulled for myself? Either Borderless foil Ocelot Pride or Textured Foil Ajani. Really like both of those cards and immediately added them to my personal collection!

It was. To this point I still have not personally seen another one fetch collector box, though I’m sure they exist. But this box felt pretty darn good.
Despite intentions to be more restrained, I failed, again 😂 and opened 4 boxes, so far. This product is so much fun! Fetch count per box was 5,5,6,4. Matches the 4 and a bit average I observe over most openings.
Hey Wildcat. I may have opened another box. 😂 Pulled 7 fetchies, invluding s retro foil flooded strand. Also borderless nonfoil phyrexian tower, foil ulamog and foil ugin’s labrynth, borderless Tamiyo, retro grief, spg endurance foil, solitude retro foil to name a few. Was a banger. Best yet for me out of 5 boxes. Around $730 value for cards worth $4.99 and above. Most fetchies as well as elementals I have pulled in a box.

I remember this set being like gold dust around here; virtually impossible to find in any of the shops, so never managed to get much of it. Some lovely cards though. Also - those were some highs you had there!
Double Masters 2022 is a pretty strong set. A ton of staples for both Modern and Commander should give it pretty good staying power.
