Weekend Overland

Weekend Overland

I am a gear junkie who loves nature. I truly believe that life is much more fun when participating with the right gear. I have many interests but for this channel I want to focus on outdoor overlanding, hiking, camping adventures and the gear that make it so much fun. We all have our budgets to work with but I strongly believe in the practice of "Buy once, cry once" ........ save a little longer to buy the good stuff!

In the past few years, I have spent quite a bit of time researching and accumulating a lot of cool gear and want to share my findings to help others decide what is best for them. Enjoy, like and subscribe if you feel I have provided you with good information that will hopefully have a positive impact on your next adventure.

So, this video is 3 yrs old at this point…I’m curious if you’ve pared down the amount of crap you tote around in your truck or if you’ve continued to purchase every gizmo and gadget available and thrown it in your truck to the point that there’s likely no longer any room for people inside. I’ve been there but at some point, you have to realize how many items you pointed out only to say you’re just waiting to see what you might see it for or you have it there but don’t use it. And I challenge you to describe the scenario where you will utilize ten pair of gloves…. I’m a knife nut myself, but I know I don’t need to have a dozen knives scattered thru the truck. When you have a bunch of crap you’ve never used and never will asking up priority space in your truck but have your fire extinguisher mounted at the front of your bed underneath a cover where there’s no way in hell you’ll access it without any kind of trouble or delay, maybe it’s time to do some rearranging and realistic prioritization. There’s always some chance you’ll be a hero because you have some random obscure thing that nobody else has on them, but more likely you’ll be that guy who digs thru endless mountains of crap in the truck for an hour only to realize you don’t even have a basic tool kit for in case you have a minor mechanical issue and you can’t even tighten a loose bolt, swap out a tail light bulb, or adjust tension on a belt that’s going to leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Two holsters on your pistol and a dozen or so masks in four different places…but no method for securing your firearm if you must leave it in the truck…which I would wager happens regularly. Don’t arm the criminals. I’m sure soon enough the grabbers will pass laws making you lose carry rights if you have one stolen. And that truck is just begging to be broken into. I guarantee if I was in a situation that made it necessary, your truck would be a priority target. Who are you going to communicate with when you have both of your radios in your truck? Would it make sense to set one up at the house, or the wife’s vehicle in case you ever needed to actually use them? Living on the gulf coast, I’ve been hung up in endless evacuation traffic trying to get home and seen cell service crash mire than once. Having radios in multiple locations is the only way they are worth anything. But mounting them up high in the open is nice of you so the thieves can get a good idea of what they’ll be taking to the pawn shop later. Not trying to be a dick. Well…it just comes naturally. But I really do have good intentions and have been that guy that tries to have everything with him at all times and it’s just not possible and it distracts from what’s really needed.

When are you boomers planning on using any this gear and your 2A? I mean, they stole an election right in front of you people and you just bent over and took it. You don't live in 1776, and never will. Your great great grandfathers are ashamed of you. All your gear, and weapons are a LARP

The bag is a cool concept, but some of these Made in America canvas and velcro tool companies seem to be taking people for a ride. It shouldn't cost $10 but it also shouldn't cost $200. Atlas is guilty of this as well. I went and bought a sewing machine and canvas to make my own.😂

I’ve slept out side in Idaho in -20 in a 4 season’s sleeping bag rated for 40 degrees. Slept in Alabama on an old closed bridge in the pouring down rain on the ground in an inch of water soaked to the bone. Shelter is a luxury not a necessity

hey just saw this but...that tourniquet. Take the Velcro zip ties off of it and and use heavy duty rubber bands. Your setup is just not fast enough to release. You need to be able to secure it but also be able to rip it free instantly if you need it. remember, 40 seconds. every second counts.

The holster setup has positive attributes but, what if your weak arm is busy fending off someone grappling you as you are getting in/out? Or want to access the pistol while you're steering with your weak hand? Pulling the holster with the gun makes it inaccessible if you only have tbe one hand available. Instead, maybe train to keep your booger-hook off the bang switch as you draw? Good setup 👍

I too have an F-150 and I'm about to do this install. My thought was to assemble two load bars to the rear rails off the truck. Then sit the rails on the cover and mark their placement. Then run a load bar against the rear rail towards the front so the rail creates the straight edge to mark where the front rails need to go.

I got the Yeti Panga 75 and it is the best Duffel bag I've ever had or even seen. The Rux is very similar box/bag to The North Face Gear Box. I have the TNF Gear box and I love it also. Almost forgot to mention, the Yeti Panga is so well made and tough that you can throw it in the back of your truck without cap or tonnue and it will keep your stuff dry and safe. I have also strapped mine on top of my Tacoma on the prinsu roof rack and drove through a snow storm and rain storm on a 8 hour drive here in British Columbia and had zero issues.
