AWSOME! One thing that I carry in my bag is a really generic ball cap 🧢. It’s good regarding dealing with the weather and for keeping a low profile. In a pinch you can ditch the cap to change your appearance. Same with a bandanna.

Thanks Clark! Both are very good additions. Since the video, I have added a poncho and removed the bug spray and batteries from the stainless water bottle. I am constantly adding and removing items.

Personally I wouldn't pack things in your water bottle because if you are going to carry the water you now have to find a place for all of those items

Your videos are really good. I’m glad I found your channel. Personally I’d never carry half that in a get home bag. I’d be worn out carrying so much weight for any real distance. It’s a great bag for additional items if you’re bugging out in your truck. But getting home I’d concentrate on thinning out that load out.

Thanks for the video; Inside the Nalgene bottle use a ziplock bag to make it easier to get the stuff out and prevent scratching the inside where some bugs can live, and as a plus when you need to use the bottle you have a place to keep all those things.

I carry the Vertx Gamut 2.o and absolutely LOVE it!! I use it for my Springfield Saint Victor 7.5 with a Law Tactical folder and it works GREAT for carry a compact AR! The backpack is great but my favorite is the Vertx Delta Stretch 2.1 pants TRUST ME they are the best! fits great and carries EDC items best with the Kore tactical belt! Great video and NICE truck brotha!!!

Excellent get home bag. I carry almost identical items. I’m in the city so I see the need to carry a small axe ( it’s a schrade axe ) as a breaching tool if needed and I also carry 8” bolt cutter to be able to cut fences if the need arises. Don’t want to climb anything if I don’t have to.

SO, let's get some clarity and reality errbody! EDC containing ⬇️ - Chapstick: Great to have when dehydrated, used daily hence EDC relevance, useful as fire starter and can also be used to lubricate a firearm or protect a wound (versions can also be purchased with antibiotic properties). - Firearm: If you can and desire to do so, a pistol with a few spare mags or box of ammo. No delusional long guns and chest rigs 🙄. - Knife: It's uses are obvious. - Water Purification tablets: Throw 4 or so in a wallet or purse and your good for 4-8 liters (that'd more than cover anyone's get home trip if paired with water that's already onboard). - Quality lighter: Obvious uses. - Duct tape: Wrap a few feet around the lighter. Can be used to patch things but more importantly as moleskin for your feet and any places that may chafe. Also replaces a booboo kit. That said, if you need a booboo kit you don't need a booboo kit 😂, so toss it. Lick the wound and keep pushing. - Flashlight: Small or keychain sized. Just incase your phone goes down. - Bag: This should only contain food, water, map and a compass (if and only if you expect to be in an area that you're unfamiliar with. But most of us have no issue finding our way home from most places we frequent). You could get away with doubledup Walmart bags but a decent pack to manage the weight is smart. But if you don't have the budget a $5 backpack from the thrift store is good. - Food: Non-cook, ready to eat food ONLY. Enough to match close as possible (watch pack weight) to the caloric requirements of the trip you'd be likely to face. - Water: LIQUID IV

You know you've made it when the "less better" full tang knife in your Vertx bag is only around $150 bucks! Lol. Great video sir!

I checked after making the video and found that I actually got it on sale during Amazon prime day for about $90, so not as bad.

Thanks for that nice video. I have got almost the same setup and planned it to last for 2 days since I have one way 60km to work. Some additions I have in my pack, that might come in usefull: - the in other comments already mentioned poncho that doubles as a tarp - Rite in the rain notepad (for your pens) to leave notes - a med kit with tweezers, bandages, tape, ibuprofen, antihistaminica, ... - a shemaq (numerous uses) - highvisibility vest if you have to walk along roadsides - small sewing kit (you get those for free in hotels) - instant coffee !!! - map of the area - blister relieve/plasters and extra pair of socks (nothing worse if sore feet and having some more km ahead of you) The last point doubles with some pair of old and well worn hiking boots that stay in my car, so I can swap my bussines shoes. I backpack with a sawyer squeeze. I have had the bags break on me. What I found was that some water bottles have different thread pitches. The smart water bottles are my favorite due to their thread pitch and durability.. I typically start with 2, 1 liter bottles and I mark 1 of them. That way I can squeeze dirty water from the marked bottle into the clean bottle and keep the dirty one full as well amd add to the clean bottle when needed. The amount of water varies from climate. I hike with 2 liters typically only because I am around the Pacific Northwest so water sources are plentiful. I have the same single wall canteen and I love it for boiling water but switched to a titanium 900ml pot, similar cook setup as you and it weighs around the same weight as the entire canteen

Adam, thanks again for the good information. I really like the Sawyer products and like you I use the Smart bottles for their durability. I need to do a loadout review on my hiking pack. It is quite different than my emergency bag.

Great set up. Maybe split your fire staters so you have a back up in a different spot.

I would think twice about carrying a sling bag. I had the small vertex sling bag it was nice till i hiked with it for 4 miles not comfortable at all switched to the 12 hour 5.11. Much better

Hi JE, thanks for watching. This is the Vertx Gamut 2.0 which is a full backpack not a sling bag amzn.to/2TRJmbV. I totally agree though. Prior to this bag, I had a sling bag from Maxpedition.

Kleen Kanteen stainless single wall holds more water and is lighter than the Nalgene (same lid threading and hole size) and will nest inside all the same cups that the nalgene will. p.s. Garage looks great!

Nice kit, I keep a Goruck GR2, but it is admittedly on the heavy side. I had a GR1 before that I carried around industrial sites for 5 years, and sold it in like new condition lol. Upgraded for more space now that I have a family. As for feedback, I'd say add a compass! If something were to ever happen to my phone somewhere unfamiliar, I like knowing that I can't ever get too lost. I also like to carry some spare cash, an extra ID card in case I lose my wallet (in my case, a passport ID card, not my actual passport or driver's license), and some 5-year shelf life US Coast guard water pouches. Great in case there are no water sources nearby to purify, and they're made to store safely without bursting in freezing temps. I recently added a pocket NOAA weather and AM/FM radio (CC Pocket or Sangean DT-800 are two good ones) for tornado/flood/blizzard warnings and general emergency alerts, and two basic pocket walkie talkies.

There are so many choices out there it can be overwhelming. Some of what you mentioned I have incorporated either in my bag or included in my truck set up. Thanks again for your response!

It's a good idea to charge and discharge the power bank in your bag every month or two. Depending on the type of lithium cell it may not show as discharging even though the total capacity has, unbeknownst to the user, shrunk dramatically. I couldn't tell if you did so when you said "it doesn't need to be maintained very often".

0:58 ..loving those seat molle Panels you got. I just ordered one for my vehicle , just to keep it clean and organized...can't wait for it to arrive . The Vertx Backpack 28 liter size is a little small for a GHB but excellent for an EDC . You really used up all the space in this GHB bag, really well. 12:48 ..So true...no one thought to ever use the face masks, but preppers packed them up anyways...Now since C19 came , everyone has a bunch of these in their packs, cars , homes and work..lol 13:42 ...same here, Back up glasses are a must...My optometrist & optician told me , that supplies and production for contact lenses is cut down to 1/2 ...I will have to wait for 6 months or longer to get replacements...so I bought up back up glasses . 16:28 ... I have the original MSR Pocket Rocket (like you got) and I bought the 2.0 pocket rocket , cause its lighter and everyone raved about it...despite it's $20cad more. The leg on the 2.0 P.R. broke on its first camp trip and I will stick with the original. Don't care if it is 0.2 oz weight difference..it works great after 10 yrs of using. ******************************* did you get a CLOTHING Kit in there ?? Xtra Socks ?

Hi MBL! thanks for watching and your comments. Hope the molle works out for you. I feel the same way when I order gear. I'm like a kid at Christmas waiting for it to arrive!! As far as clothing, I keep a change of clothes and socks in a packing cube in the truck but not actually in my bag.

You should put a small zip tie on the lighter beneath the push down button to prevent it from being released. Also putting some electrical tape around the lighter body is a good idea

Good set up. Maybe I missed it but a lite weight rain poncho would be a good idea, especially for covering the bag. Those bags are not water proof and if water were to soak in, the bag will weight 3 times more.

You can get one time use ponchos at dollar store for couple dollars...take up less space than a wallet...I carry multiple for family as well

Is the Nalgene a single walled? If it’s double walled you can’t use it for boiling. Also I’d change the color of the pull tabs to something more subdued like a ranger green. It looks black at night and right now with the bright color it’s stands out making you stand out

Hi PD. Currently the bag comes in at 20lbs which is a little heavier than I would like but I use the bag for both a Get Home Bag and a storage for other items that may be needed from time to time. So if I had to hit the trial, I may shed a few things prior. Thanks for watching and Take care.

Hi Marko. Thanks for watching. I actually carry my Trauma IFAK separately in my truck mounted to the rear seat headrest with a quick release. This allows me to gain access efficiently when needed. If I needed to leave my vehicle with my bag, I have room in the front compartment of the bag to place the IFAK.

Also maybe take off the pull tab. Due to the weight of your bag it really wouldn’t be too effective and a lot of people (due to Vertx being now so well known) only can recognize the bags based off of that tab. Making people think/know you have a weapon.

Noah, good point. I realized after I produced the video that I did not mention the compartment for your concealment of a weapon, nor did I mention that I have a armor plate inserted for a little added protection (at least with pistol rounds up to .44 magnum.

I believe those energy bars are 400 cals not 4000. Not sure if anyone else mentioned that. I haven’t read all the comments yet.

At a glance you see 400 and then there is a "K" which I assumed 4000 which I know doesn't make sense either. The excitement over these does reduce dramatically at 400 calories.

Where do park you're car ?Cause in my town you park a car with all that stuff in the back seat including holsters with sig saurer written on it then you are getting broken into 100% everyday. I also noticed in your car you had everything but back seats

Yes I am fortunate that most of the time I am either near my vehicle or it is in my garage. My back seats are folded up so I have a lot of room in that area. I rarely have passengers in the back.

I'm going to look into those Maxpedition pulls... They look awesome! I commented on your truck video about how you should have some of these things in it. ( water filtration, fire starting, etc.) I still think it would be good to have doubles and have those things in your vehicle permanently as well as in your bag. You might not always have that bag with your vehicle. Just a thought. If you have to worry about cleaning your gun in the field, you need a different gun or your field has taken you to weeks of war and hours and hours of sustained gunfight... I'd replace that with some celox quick clot (a medical clotting agent that you put on an open wound to stop bleeding). That would be needed WAY sooner than an oil wipe to clean a gun. Or even some more wet ones. Again, more magazines would be great you and I both know this world is crazy. Maybe think about incorporating a rifle into the mix as well. Overall Good kit! Not bashing just trying to help ya get thinking. I get others to do the same for me also.

Hi John, thanks again. We are definitely on the same page. I really appreciate your input. The IFAK I have in the truck is equipped for field trauma and I have since gone through some training. The key, as you know, is training with all of your gear to be able to use it proficiently.

@@WeekendOverland Absolutely!! Training is KEY with anything. Gear is worthless without it!! I love that medical is something more and more average guys are starting to think about and prioritize. It's honestly just as, if not more important than carrying a gun. If I'll take a life, I better be ready to save one. Thats my philosophy.

I have a Mora Knife, trauma pak, flashlight, light sticks, batteries, 550 cord (100 feet), winter hat, hand warmers, hand sanitizer, water bottles (2), emergency drinking water packs (2), bandanas, pocket constitution, pepper gel, protein bars, Swiss army knife, Bic lighters, storm proof matches, compass, gorilla tape, pry bar, 5 hour energy, disposable masks, emergency ponchos and an emergency blanket.

Good catch, my apologies, On the front of the bar it states 400Kcal, which I mistook for 4000 cal, which makes no sense either because the K (if meaning 1000) would have converted to 400,000. So I totally messed this one up :-). On the back nutrition label it clearly states 400 cal. I now know that Kcal is an accepted term for calories. Thanks for pointing this out!

Weight should be the biggest concern. More weight equals moving slower. In a get home situation I’m trying to get home to my family. I’m not taking a nature hike through the woods which means I’m not cooking, sleeping, or starting a fire. I’m getting home. Jog as far as I can and then a fast pace walk. Water, a few granola bars, edc gun, knife and flashlight. That will get me home within a day- day and a half.

Hi Sean, yes everting relies on the situation you are in and what is required to complete your mission at hand. With my set up, my bag is more of a multipurpose. Based on my needs at the time I will take what is needed and leave behind what is not. I would rather leave things behind than find I do not have something that is required. Thanks for watching. As mentioned in the video, this is a combo everyday backup and get home bag. If needed as a GHB, I would remove items not needed for mobility. I would rather start with more than I need than not have what I need. This works well for me.

I am always tweaking mine based on comments. I recently added a poncho and a Knipex TwinKey following subscriber's comments

just my .02, I'd probably move the knife sharpener and repellent out of your stainless steel drinking source....a potential for metal shaving or chemical ingestion is my rationale.
