my favorite part about the early days of the modern Olympics is that there used to be disciplines for painting and music. I tried finding some pieces from the time, but the only thing I could find was a painting of a bunch of people skiing. was kind of underwhelming

I like Ob la di ob la da but cannot stand the version by marmalade which somehow got to #1 over here. Surprised revolution 9 wasn't mentioned. Maybe because it isn't a song but 8 minutes of noises. Yep that white album was decent but it also had its stinkers.

  • @lamelists

Of all the sports that you mentioned, I agree that walking, fencing, Equestrian should be excluded. Walking is a weird event where I saw so many competitors were cruelly disqualified after many kilometres of walk, and it is just senseless. One sport that I think should also be removed is synchronised swimming. Table tennis should be there; it is a beautiful sport. Sure China dominates the sport all these years, but so do long distance runnings that are dominated by Africans.

Lol I actually like all these songs. Especially Little T & A, one of Keith's best. Terrifying is a lot of fun, almost hypnotic yet very rocking still. When it comes to the Stones I love their deep album cuts best. By the way, the Stones started recording Satanic Majesties before Sgt. Pepper, because of the jail time Mick, Keith and Brian had to for most of early 67 they had to wait a while to resume recording which is why it ended up coming out months after Pepper. It's a lot darker, good late night music.

  • @lamelists

Hey I hear ya on Satanic Majesties, I don't think it SOUNDS like a Beatles ripoff at all, seems like a lot of folks are able to defend that from the Beatles easily. And I also hear ya on liking a lot of these songs, plenty of commentors and viewers would agree with you it seems!

I'd start with the sports that are too niche to even have both sexes competing-- Greco Roman wrestling (NOT freestyle, which is great), nordic combined, synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics -- all boring, lacking diverse representation, or both. Boxing is hopelessly corrupt and none of the best athletes even compete (those are... not unrelated). Soccer should go if Fifa won't get rid of the archaic age restrictions. And breakdancing is ridiculous on its face. The only sports from this list I actually agree with are pentathlon (archaic and niche), table tennis (too dominated by one country and surprisingly dull after a few minutes), and racewalking (hopelessly subjective and stupid-looking).

I also agree about Yesterday...great song but not the best. I don't agree with She Loves You. I agree with it's importance, but it's not top 10 best song (While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Strawberry Fields Forever, Help, Nowhere Man, Penny Lane or I am a Walrus would have been a better choice). This video is a bit of click bait trap. Since it talks about each individual country's national Olympic committee, ability to get some Olympic silver wear. In which case, one would have to include, the 4 types of Olympic games that exist nowadays. Summer Olympics and Paralympics; and also Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Being that, in that case: there is only 40 nations, that never got an Olympic medal. With some of the only Paralympic medal winning nations; also having the current WR holders, for their past wining athletes. A feature that isn't easily matchable, because in Paralympics, sometimes, one needs two good athletes to be running synchronously, side by side.
