@@SoulKnightKing I'm not bugging. What about Tom Cruise's performance in Top Gun: Maverick was any different from his other performances in action movies?
@SoulKnightKing24 күн бұрын
@TheHannahcast First of all, he absolutely deserved a nomination for Collateral. Considering Jamie Foxx was category fraud, and if anyone was supporting it was Cruise. Also Cruise completely outshines Foxx at every turn. Second of all, it was one of the most demanding roles. People commended Michelle Yeoh for EEAAO and Viola Davis for Woman King, for their stuntwork in their films. Objectively. Tom had the hardest stunts. You cannot praise Yeoh than dismiss Tom who is older than both and had the more demanding stuntwork. There's a reason even SAG gave best stunts to Top Gun Maverick. So it's not just another action film. Thirdly, the range Tom did was exceptional. Kosinski's direction allowed Tom to be challenged as a whole new entry into Top Gun while honoring the OG version. Countless people have cited that Tom and Val Kilmers scene made then cry. (Exceptional screenplay at work, deserving of its oscar nom) But the pain and regret he has throughout most of the film of hindering and trying to protect Rooster until it's come out and he learns to let go, and even trust others. There's a reason Top Gun Maverick made 1.5 billion dollars. It resonated with so many people, especially Americans. And Tom sold it to everyone while having the entire film on his shoulders. That's not just star power that him as a filmmaker understanding the medium and craft and using acting to convey an incredible story.

@@SoulKnightKing Yeoh was praised because her performance was operatic in all fronts, yes she did stunts but her performance was also deeply moving, emotional and complex. Karla Sofia Gascon is clearly going to be campaigned as lead. Not only is she the literal namesake of the movie but also for narrative purposes as possibly the first ever trans nominee. They will most likely take the Gladstone route and push as lead since she is the heart of the movie, and that campaign did prove Gladstone could lead a movie and as a result it led to more opportunities. That being said, everyone who has seen the movie basically says that Saldana is basically the Lead who is in almost the entire movie. Sitll, that hasn't stopped the Academy for nominating clear leads in supporting like Rooney Mara in Carol and Lakeith Stanfield in Judas. I have both Saldana and Gascon in Lead with Gascon in my Top 5, with Selena Gomez as a wildcard in Supporting. As of sources, I wouldn't trust anything unless the trades put it out like Gladstone being Lead was first confirmed by Variety. Fancy Dance was kinda just dumped on Apple after a limited run, they probably just did it as a favor/offering of grace to Gladstone after their relationship for KOTFM. I don't see it going anywhere especially since Actress seems to be stacked. Mikey Madison will definitely be a thing especially if Anora is huge. I have her in because I also have it getting in Picture and Director. Greta Lee was edged out because Past Lives was clearly a #10 movie in BP, while I do think this could be Top 5. I'm still not confident in The Collaboration, it's way too small despite the McCarten trend. Conclave makes more sense than Collaboration. But I do agree Hoult might be a dark horse. I don't have Phoenix in as well but I do have JDW since he had solid reviews as well. Speaking of Piano Lesson, I'd argue aside from JDW, SLJ and Deadwyler, Ray Fisher could be a dark horse for Supporting if Piano Lesson pops off since he apparently is a standout and plays the funniest guy in the cast based on reviews of his performance the play. Those who saw Didi say it's a great movie but not an Oscar player. A Real Pain seems to be a small movie that could get in Orig Screenplay since this year is pretty weak so far, but Kieran Culkin still has the Succession hype and he's highly praised from there so he could get in by name recognition alone

@@TheHannahcast Fury Road isn’t a remake but pretty much a requel. Nosferatu has its foot in the door because lighthouse did get nominations. Not picture or director but Eggers is respected. The Lighthouse got one nomination: Cinematography. It still wasn't anywhere near Best Picture. Mad Max: Fury Road was still an action movie, not a horror movie. The Shape of Water wasn't the same kind of monster movie. It's a fantasy romance film directed by previous Oscar nominee Guillermo Del Toro. It's not a horror movie. This couldn't be anywhere near the same thing as Nosferatu. Again, I think Nosferatu will be amazing, but this really feels like hopedicting.

Tammy Fae and The Whale got Makeup nominations.
@@TheHannahcast not best picture tho
Really?! Madame web.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 what about kraven the hunter😂😂😂😂😂. But deadpool and wolverine should
Yes, I'm totally predicting Madame Web and it's totally not a joke for funnies.
@@TheHannahcastgive up on The Fire Inside. Its going to Prime. Conclave is a high contender. It sounds like a more political thriller then traditional. Nightbitch is to genre. Thank you for predicting Juror no 2.
Nosferatu let’s go!
As much as I'm excited for it, Nosferatu is a remake of a monster movie. The Academy would never in a million years nominate it for Best Picture.
@@TheHannahcast Fury Road made it. It’s not Horror but I think it gives Nosferatu a chance.
Fury Road isn't a remake, and there have been many many action films nominated for Best Picture. Nothing like Nosferatu has ever been nominated. Again, it is a remake of a vampire monster movie. Robert Eggers isn't even a previous nominee in Director, so the movie has nothing to truly back up a Best Picture nomination.
@@TheHannahcast Fury Road isn’t a remake but pretty much a requel. Nosferatu has its foot in the door because lighthouse did get nominations. Not picture or director but Eggers is respected. Shape of Water is a monster movie so it’s possible. It’s a thin year and all I’m saying is there’s a chance more than a lot of stuff you have on that list.
