i did not learn anything however i have been doing photography for over 25 years, however i did enjoy listening to you give the facts and not tried to sell anything and pretend to be instructing, i would listen again, blessing
Thanks cosmo! I appreciate it. Sounds like you know a lot about photography. 😀
@@nicolekirkphoto i do know about photography, however there is always room to learn from others like you
Thanks for sharing. I have been trying your workflow successfully and like it. That way it is not necessary to decide whether to edit in Lightroom or Evoto but use the best of both.
Hi Horst! I happy to hear that this is working for you. I agree that editing this way allows you to have the best of Lightroom and evoto. 😊
WHAT IS EVOTO? AND WHAT IS PHOTO MECHANIC? AND WHAT IS CULL?
Hi Randall. Evoto is a new ai software that does portrait retouching. Culling is when you go through your photos and pick the best ones. I do this before I edit using software called photomechanic.
Easy fix
Very nice!
Thanks!

@@nicolekirkphoto not working
@@govardhantphotography Hi Again! I sent an email manually with the preset and you should have received it.
Why would you shoot it at ISO 400 and have your shutter so high when you could lower the shutter and shoot at ISO 100?
Hi there! You make a good point. I likely could’ve lowered the iso and shutter speed. Regardless, I find that iso 400 produces nice looking photos in my camera.
@@nicolekirkphoto Ah OK, thank you for replying, I will try ISO 400 on my Sony A7Riii and see if I get good results, I am guessing there is not a big difference between 100 and 400. Thanks for the reply.
@guerrerosdigitales I think iso400 should be fine with your camera. I don’t think you will notice much extra noise in the images.
The distance between you and the subject if you can explain little more please 🙏
Hi There! good question. I usually start further away from couples and gradually move in to take tighter shots so that I can get a variety of images. I find it's usually better to start out further away until the couple feels more comfortable with getting photos taken. The distance also depends on the lens I'm using. For example, to take a full body shot with the 85mm, i need to stand far away.
Really appreciated. I like your content and images keep it up a good work
@@meab2220 Thankyou!
Awesome 😩 thank you! Love your channel and work.
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you found this helpful 😀
Thank you, this video is very helpful.
You're welcome! I'm so glad to hear that it helped you:)
Thank you for this!
You’re welcome Ron! I’m glad you found it helpful.
Quality content as always❤
Thankyou Ruwantha!
Nice, short and concise. I'm from the old film world with medium format cameras and the old flash systems. I'm with you on not using too many off camra lights, though I have used one off camera light on occasions. I use to use a bouncer and an old vivitar flash and came out with nice shots at weddings. I too took advantage of a videographers lights on a tosting shot; came out good. look forward for a few more of your teaching sessions.
Hi @jderossett1 Thanks for your kind words. Using film cameras at weddings must have been so stressful. I like the idea of bouncing a flash off a reflector. I think I should try it out. Sometimes, when I'm in a tricky lighting situation, I'll set up one off-camera light as well. It can really make a difference. Do you still photograph weddings?
Thanks for tips and inspiration I Love your Channel 📸❤
Thankyou for your kind words Randall! I really appreciate it 😀
the nikon z6ii is excellent! I want to buy another one used. It's 2024 Q2 and used Z6ii is still holding its price on the used market. I em still waiting for the price to drop to this day but its really hard to find one at a low price
I love my Nikon z6II as well! I bet it’s hard to find a good deal on one. I’d love to get another one too. My old camera isn’t nearly as good.
your video lighting is nicely balanced
Thankyou! I actually just filmed this in front of a window and I think it turned out okay. Nice and easy!
Correction: ISO does not help adding ambient light to your image.
OK I guess you know best 🤣🤣🤣🤣 even though you're talking out of your 🍑 💨
I don’t agree with this at all. You can always do both. Huge difference.
Hi Mike. Thanks for your input. I find each photographer that I've worked with has a different way of doing things. There's no right answer.
She literally recognizes in the video that every photographer has their own way of doing things, and she is sharing what works for HER.
Who hurt you bro 😂😂😂
great info thank you so much . do more editing and colour grading photos
Hi Ruwantha. I'm happy to that you liked the video and I appreciate your suggestion for making more videos about editing and colour grading. I'll definitely do more like that in the future:)
great info thank you so much
You’re welcome Ruwantha!
You’re welcome!
I am so glad you talked about why you don't use off camera flash as opposed to on camera flash. The last thing I want to do at a wedding is miss a shot because I have the off camera flash in the wrong place. Thank you.
Hi Debbie! We are thinking the same thing. There’s so much you can do with on camera flash and it’s faster and allows you to be present for what’s happening. 😊
Thank you great info 🙂
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing the basics in an easy to understand way. I’m considering PM for culling. Would like to see a video on setting up preferences in PM, unless they have defaults that work fine for getting started. Do you know?
Hi Rachel! I'm happy to hear that you found my video helpful. I have never changed the preferences in photomechanic. I've just used the default options and it works well for me. I understand that it's possible to customize the software to work with your specific workflow. Maybe a good option for you? I recommend checking it out with the default settings first and then customizing it as you get more proficient with it.
I really love your channel. I only wish you would leave the examples up longer with the camera settings while you’re describing them.
Hi Guy! Thank you so much for the feedback. In the future, I'll leave the examples up longer:)
I’ve never seen a beautiful wooden hanger 😅. Nice tip, I have to buy it for this season 👍
lol! A nice hanger can come in handy sometimes 😀
I’ll check my photos from the first wedding, I think that you nailled it. I remember, I was really nervous, because I had only one body, one lens, one flash and of course one battery 😂😂😂 to my Nikon D80 .
Hi Pavel! Thanks! Your first wedding sounds extremely stressful 😅. We all start somewhere!
Hi Nicole I have wedding in Texas June 2 2024 Thanks for the tutorial on flash📸

do you set the zoom for the flash head on auto or set it on wildest or max zoom and do you set your camera metering on spot, mid or wide?
Hi Byron! I set my flash head on auto zoom and I use matrix metering in my camera.
@@nicolekirkphoto thanks 🙏
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much for the great advice. I have my 1st wedding in May and I’m really nervous. I want to do I good job. You have a new subscriber 👍🏾
Hi Apollo! Thank you for subscribing and good luck at your wedding. I’m sure you’ll do great 😊
This is pretty awesome for being one of your first weddings!! Nice 😃 I’ve found that I learn the most from critiquing my own work and trial and error practice at home with my own jewelry. I have now gotten to the point of nailing lighting and focus I have practiced so much. I can confidently photograph jewelry now without being shaky or holding my breath.
Hi Kelly! Thanks for your kind words. That’s amazing that you’re seeing an improvement with your jewelry photography. I think practise does make perfect 😊
You are such a blessing!! This info may change my time efficiancy!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Hi Theresa. I'm so happy to hear that this was helpful to you! I'm amazed at how well the evoto software works. It's revolutionary!
Thank you. I appreciate your methodical way that makes it clear when you teach!!!! You rock?
Hi Theresa! Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for watching:)
Is your free preset off of a scam website? It does not look reliable.
Hi Daniella. No it’s not on a scam website. There’s nothing scammy about it. Good question though!
Thank you Nicole, great video. Learned a lot !! Really help me.
Yeah! I'm so happy to hear that this was helpful Ricardo:)
Hi, am i wedding photographer in india gujrat state in vadodra city
Hi there! Nice to meet you! I’d love to see your wedding photos sometime. So cool that you’re on the other side of the world 😊
I 💯 agree about the hazardous that come from using flash with stands at an event, I think it would be wise to not use them due the possibility of getting sued if someone is not paying attention, and runs over it and get KO'd!??....
Hi Luis... yes, I think you're right! If you can have an assistant guarding a light stand it's helpful. Otherwise, you could be asking for trouble!
❤
Hi
Thank you so much for your free preset. It worked like a magic for photos. Much appriciated.

Thanks so much! It really is harder than it seems.
1000 iso is not high , not sure what camera you using but try 3200 and 6400 with Photoshop denoise you will be surprised
Hi @prosunsport1! Thanks for your comment. You have a very good point. ISO 1000 isn’t very high and I should’ve said a higher iso number in the video 😅
Very helpful tips. Thanks.
I’m glad it was helpful!
Thanks Nicole for sharing a glimpse into your old work! Please do share more videos like this one as not a lot of great photographers are brave enough to show examples of their early works and its a great learning lesson for all beginners! ;)
Hi Anna! I’m glad you liked this one. It’s an easy type of video to make and I’m glad there are some helpful tips in there. I will do this type of again and thanks for your feedback 😊.
I need to learn to take these kinda photos with out flash. I use flash in all my photos and have so little edit. What does the editing look like on these photos ? What camera do you use? What white balance ? Btw you are doing a very good job. I just subscribed you.
Hi Thankyou Mike! I don’t usually use flash when I’m outdoors. I just find good even light and then expose for the ambient light and press the shutter. The trick is finding good even light and then it’s easy.
Bro is from another generation 🤣
