Louis CK has always made anti-semetic jokes. His explanation is that while he was raised Catholic, his grandfather was a Hungarian Jewish Holocaust survivor who fled to Mexico. It's possible that behind the scenes comedians knew that and gave it a pass. The things that makes me a little uncomfortable looking back me and my friends knew it because we would listen to every Obie and Anthony appearance on KZread, but the vast majority of his fans assumed he was Irish Catholic and they went along with it.

Cow have a low emotionally intelligence than pigs or dogs or cats. Dogs emotionally intelligence is closer to humans because how they were breed. Me personally Dogs, Cats, Ferrets, Horses, and Pigeons shouldn't be eaten. Also an animal intelligent like elephant, octopus, or parrots.

Thank you for countering Cohen's narrative. Zionists end up minimizing real antisemitism by being racist and violent and claiming that all Jews are like that

As someone who grew up in Bangladesh, living in America is a huge privilege. I think it all comes down to convenience and your relationship with your local community. I live in a suburb with walkable streets, schools/colleges/universities, grocery stores, public transportation, and religious/cultural diversity.

If you have to coerce someone to take your side, what value is their support? I'd want to know that someone actually cares about a cause and not just on the bandwagon for whatever the trendy new topic is.

There's a certain type of liberal who is progressive and nice as long as they themselves feel safe and secure and as long as minorities remain subservient, benign, and mostly theoretical. Example: JK Rowling, Dave Chappelle, Louis CK. There's also a certain type of person who prioritizes getting to feel smug and/or ruffling feathers above all else, so they'll happily pivot from espousing left-wing beliefs and practices to spouting right-wing reactionary ones in order to continue to scandalize people and/or feel intellectually superior to them. Example: Johnny Rotten. People who probably fit into both categories: Bill Maher, David Mamet. As this video points out, there are also many people who believe (sometimes legitimately, sometimes illegitimately) that their good intentions, identity/group membership, or progressive beliefs provide them with a free coupon to say and do things that would otherwise be considered uncool. (Psych research has found that when people perform one good, moral, or healthy act, they'll sometimes tell themselves that they get to "cheat" as a "treat"---so, a person who donated to help the environment will toss their recyclable item in the trash, or the person who's been dieting will decide they deserve just one cookie.) Where this becomes particularly problematic and messy is when a minority starts punching down at another minority group. No one is completely free of bias or prejudice, so even the most well-intentioned and "woke" liberal or Leftist will still have some blind spots and unchecked prejudices. "Borat" took advantage of the massive blind spot many progressives had (and often still have) with regards to both Islam/The Middle East and Eastern Europe. At the same time, there is a real problem of some people on the Left being overzealous and nitpicky in their call-outs and relishing the Joy of Pwnage over being effective in their advocacy, activism, education, and call-outs and call-ins. True-blue allies will endure being put through the wringer, yes, but that doesn't mean it's good, right, or helpful to curb-stomp people for every faux pas and oversight.

I think this is a very good analysis of the issue but I think you miss or don’t make clear enough that progressive and liberal are not the same thing, liberals are almost always more devoted to the status quo and sustaining capital than they are to any positive change, ie they believe in “liberalism”

Bit of a nitpick. "We can't just cancel student loan debt, that'ed be ridiculous!" It wasn't liberals that nixed student loan debt. It was the conservative supreme court. Since then, Biden went on to cancel more student loans that all previous presidents combined.

the louis ck case is very obvious. many conservative men love to talk about how shitty men are because it makes them look conscious while still not holding men accountable. they also love to accept gay marriage and ''be cool with gay people'' but just as long as they ''act normal'' and ''get married'' thats why their acceptance is focused on marriage.

considering how many radical left movements are funded by blackrock, vanguard and George Soros...yeah, making fun of the femminist marxist LGBT cult is punching up. But who cares about punching up or down? it doesn't matter anyway, the mere idea of having to "punch up" its why the left can't meme.

As a parent myself, I see more and more that people have seemed to give up on parenting their kids. They just give them a tablet or electronics in hopes they would shut up and not cause conflict. Lots of parents don’t want to deal with conflict ever. It leads to emotionally neglectful and emotionally immature parents. It’s sad and anger inducing to see! This isn’t everybody and I’ve seen some amazing parents! That’s not about them. I just see it so commonly, it’s worth mentioning.

Whatching Sacha Baron Cohen's work become punchlines for racists says something. Any credit I might give him for being misunderstood satire evaporatates with his support of genocide apologists. I thought he did genuinely good work in his critic of the US, but it becomes more apparent all the time that a surface critic of obviously vile culture and policy, isn't indicative of basic decency. Amazing who all comes out of the woodwork in support when the worst horrors are being normalized

I don't know... 1. His way with his son, is not unlike the stance taken by a traditionally strict asian dad. 2. If he was more of a family man, he may not have achieved legacy level international suoerstardom and be an early asian pioneer. 3. In an asian household, I won't be surprised if "the man" working hard for his family counts as the biggest affirmation of love. 4. His political ideology is his political ideology... sure, you can judge him if he doesn't share yours 5. I do think he should have given more support to his daughter but I want to know, did his wife give him a 'no contact' ultimatum, did he and Ada have an understanding... did she also insist on having the baby against his wishes? Side note on the Michelle Yeoh clip. I'm Malaysian where she's from. It's ok to jokingly call a guy a male chauvinistic pig, she wasn't calling him out or crying out for help. Just putting some contrarion views out there. Enjoyed a lot of his films but was never a huge fan.

The funny thing is that borat and the dictator has no cultural impact in here (Brazil). I would not be surprised if this were true on the rest of world. I watched borat like 2 years ago because I saw it on gringo youtuber video and is sooo bad, like, sooo bad. And had no idea that is was so famous.

2:59 YES! I have notices that as well. As a prime example. My father, who looks scarily similar to Ben Shapiro, he is the progressive kind of guy and he actually calls me woke a lot to try and insult me, I am pretty sure. He is only left leaning because he thinks it’s more logical. And he despises „stupid“ people. And everyone that didn’t study at university or is religious is „stupid“ to him. So yeah-

19:20 As a former Nostalgia Critic watcher as well, I feel your pain. But great video. I have found that overall YT progressives (liberals, leftists, etc.) all have a similar streak of racist humor they can't let go. I find lefty people going over the line with joking critique of black politicians or political figures. Often using Jim Crow level digs at Obama, Candace Owens etc. I'm all for clowning them for their poor policies or opinions but YT lefties always want to fall back to calling them Uncle Tom's or House N words. They believe because the person is right of their political views they can do racism as a joke.

I appreciate your thoughtful and educational piece here. I have to ask, do you hold the belief that you are on the side of 'right' and are looking at the world objectively and correctly, where if there is a disagreement then the other person must be wrong, or uneducated or a bad person? I ask this because i listen to many video essays and i see a similar stance with people who have opposing views, and could be called right-wingers.
