Bleeps and Boops

Bleeps and Boops

Hi there... welcome to things that go bleep and boop

I've sort of fallen in to this - I don't claim to be an ambient sound designer, pro KZreadr, I don't have soundpacks or sample libraries you can buy, but over the years I've accumulated a few bits of random 80's/90's synth things and not really had much of an outlet for playing it. I figured that demoing it in context, a few covers, a few tutorials etc might be useful...

I'll be trying to avoid the DAW where possible - I spend far too many days stuck editing audio in Pro Tools, and whilst I've nothing against ITB, it just lacks the *fun* factor of a DAW-less track

If there's something I think is interesting - a track, piece of gear I've managed to get hold of, workflow etc - I'll try to film it. Drop me a comment on any of the videos if there's something you want to see covered.

Thanks for looking!

If you're interested, my other channel has way more guitars on it - kzread.info

    On the 3rd time of watching (first time on the big telly tho) I finally understand what’s going on here. Thanks. I guess the TL:DR is that there is a lot of mileage to be had in swapping out individual waves in the patches, rather that building them yourself in the mentally complex workflow! There are not really many good vids on programming the VST, like at all, so more of this kinda thing would be v welcome 🙏

  • @bleepsandboops
    @bleepsandboops7 күн бұрын

    I believe so - under the hood the engine is the same. The main differences are (only) 4 outs on the R5 instead of the 8 on the R8, and (the big difference) is the R5 doesn't have a ROM card slot so you're stuck with just the onboard sounds.

    I have a Yamaha RY30 drum machine that came out around the same time. It does very similar things to what you were showing, but it goes further. In addition, You can manipulate the filter (it has a LP12/24 and a HP 12/24, per sound and the balance between the samples per pad sound. And if you don’t want to do it real time, each parameter can be adjusted per step sequence (4 bars). On a side note, I got to meet the guys in person a hell of a long time in Baltimore, Maryland. I saw them in a warehouse later that night, and they played behind an opaque curtain. Hearing Second Bad Vibel over a PA system was something else.
