Nice video, thanks. A few things I did: I partially installed the M6 bolts to make sure all four holes on the nut plate were lining up before tightening down the sensor bracket bolt. When i did so I actually found that the far passenger side hole on the nut plate was slightly off (1 mm?) to the side, could not be corrected by moving the nut plate around, so I enlargened the hole on the car a bit to make sure I'd have no problem when I put the shield on, e.g., in aligning the M6 bolt with the hole in the nut plate. I also used their provided thread lock on every fastener. The smaller rear security nut uses a 12mm socket to tighten, and a 14 mm socket for the larger security nut. Finally, I realized I better d*mn well keep those three keys if I ever need to remove the shield! In the provided ziplock bag and in the bottom of the glovebox. :) [seriously, why do we still call them gloveboxes?] PS: I had to slow the speed of this vid to 25% to watch it, lol!

....aren't they using cutting wheels ??? What about small cutting torches ?
@millercatcorp2711 Жыл бұрын
We do not see thieves carrying around torches or cutting wheels. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but it is not the tool of choice for a majority of thieves. Look at any thieves caught in the act or see what the cops bust the thieves for and you will only see sawzalls and drills.
@flagmichael8 ай бұрын
I've tried cutting wheels when working with stainless steel before I retired. The wheels load up in seconds even when trying to remove a seized bolt. I've never used a cutting torch, but a quick Google brought up a Garage Journal thread about cutting SS. One contributor points out, "Oxy-acetylene won't cut stainless or aluminum because they don't oxidize the same as steel does. With a [cutting] torch you are effectively 'speed rusting' your way through the steel. You're literally oxidizing your way through the metal." (Of course, it will melt away aluminum.) There are probably reasons nobody uses torches for cat converter theft. My guess is since it would be very hard to cut the exhaust all around with a torch those are left at home. Stainless steel was one of the banes of my existence when I worked with it (thankfully a small part of my job!) I am happy to make it the bane of a thief's existence now.

does it need to be removed for emissions testing? thanks
The rav4 hybrid shield does not have an option for stainless steel,,, is there a reason 🤔 good product,, 👍
Stainless steel is a great material, but it is very expensive and not everyone will want to spend the money for the better material. We are considering this option but have no timeline on it. Thank you.
In this video it appears to be a corded Sawzall - thieves would mostly be using cordless tools with way less torque and battery life. I totally appreciate @millercat making the effort to thwart the thieves. It's an expensive game of cat and mouse. As MillerCat Innovates, thieves will look for weakness to exploit. I'm hoping MillerCAT can expand to other brands of cars soon - Jeep & GM please /\
Thanks for your view and comment. It is actually a cordless sawzall and the top of the line Milwaukee one. When we do testing like this, we get the best tools that a thieve would use to show how it would be for an actual thief. We are going to be expanding our product line to other manufacturers. Thanks again for your comment.
some battery tools have more torque then corded.
....aren't they using cutting wheels ??? What about small cutting torches ?
We do not see thieves carrying around torches or cutting wheels. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but it is not the tool of choice for a majority of thieves. Look at any thieves caught in the act or see what the cops bust the thieves for and you will only see sawzalls and drills.
At that point I'd just take their wheels out of spite.
Thug
Milwaukee torch blades hold up a lot better than that
I've worked with stainless steel enough to know any blades will suffer the same fate long before the shield is off. Not only is SS hard, it is reactive, trying to become one with whatever we use to drill or cut it.
So do the key is the same for every single shield ? That mean that a thief will have a key and get a way with it
I think I read you can pay more on their site for bolts with a different key.
The kits come with two or three different security screws/bolts. Thieves don’t like confrontation, the longer they have to spend trying to steal something means a greater risk of getting caught. Thieves are cowards who take what others work for, don’t make it easy for them.
Do you guys plan on making anything for US's best selling Ford F-150 pickups? Those get targeted very frequently because of how high off the ground they are.
The plastic that was removed is not to be reinstalled?
The plastic does not need to be reused.
@@millercatcorp2711 Just installed this shield! No rattles, only issue is the front 3 mounting points were rusted and broke off. Fortunately I was left with enough screw to still mount the shield. Used a 3 inch ratchet and still broke 2 of them on a car with only 99k. Otherwise great design!!! Also you showing the cat deadlock installation with a impact is dangerous due to the possibility of cross threading into the exhaust manifold.
I just bought this and it didn’t come with rivet nuts…It just came with rivets and 2 screws. What are the two screws for?
Why don't they just come pre-installed when you buy the thing?
This is an instructional video to show the different rivet nut tools available and how they work. Our shields come with the rivet nuts installed, but there are some applications that need it installed on the actual vehicle. Thank you.
