Sewing tutorials, pattern reviews, fabric shopping, and DIY Inspiration
Hi, I’m Byrd, your curvy sewist. Colorful eclectic clothing is my jam and I am unapologetically comfortable in my skin. Style should not be defined by age, size, or gender! I started my sewing journey a few years ago and my goal is to show people it’s never too late to pick up a new skill or passion.
If you are a beginner, I provide step-by-step, sewing tutorials with a twist. I share tips and tricks for garments that fit well and feel good on you.
I invite you to subscribe to my channel and turn on notifications so that you don’t miss new videos and live sew alongs. Feel free to comment and share videos with your friends.
When I am not sewing, I teach fitness and yoga classes, travel, and foster rescue puppies. When traveling, my favorite souvenir is a special piece of fabric from the place I’ve visited.
Thanks for stopping by,
Byrd

Great Finds!!
Appreciate ya
The JoAnn in Woodbury Mn. Has no Velcro, lots of empty shelves, low selection of thread, the condition of the store is poor.
really sorry to hear that. I do hope things will improve. Thank you for watching
As soon as I heard about the bankruptcy I talked to both my local stores and they said they would stay in business. HOWEVER I have been to both of them recently and WAS SHOCKED. The shelves are empty and many of the products I use are just not available anymore. The ribbon they carry now is the cheapest they can get. A person DOES NOT want to put cheap ASS ribbon on a wedding dress. Also, what happened to the feathers ??? Only a few are left in the floral section. Over by the jewelry they had flowers to put on hats and headbands. Its gone. Maybe the top dogs need to listen to their customers and see what the customers want. Right now they are just putting stuff that has a high mark up on the shelves. This will lead to Joanne's being ANOTHER store that goes out of business. I don't buy that Covid put them out of business either. It is the pay that the top dogs are getting. PERIOD !!!
Super sorry to hear about the recent change in your local stores. I had hope things would get better. Hoping new leadership comes on board and listens more to employees and customers.
Why can;t you do the back without a seam in the middle?
You can do the back without a seam, but the seam provides more definition and cleaner fit
Bring back So-Fro fabric store.
First time hearing of so fro. Thanks for watching and please subscribe for updates :)
They're fabric is way over priced that you may as well buy off the rack. Plus the fabric prints are ugly and boring.
Everything to me is expensive these days no matter where you are.
great video. Not so intimidating and easy to follow. I'm going to try this but just for information, why do you need two pieces for the back? I'm new.
The backpiece on similar patterns is often cut on the fold and you only need one piece. Two back pieces allow you to have more definition, so you have a more fitted look. The seam in the back makes a huge difference. Good luck in your journey. It’s super fun. Please subscribe for more.
It looks gorgeous on you. Great selection of fabric colour and style.
Thank you for watching! I am living in this set - it’s so comfy
Love that you showed up in my feed! Great tutorial-thanks- I subscribed :-) Did you mention the pattern name of your cute skirt?
The skirt is the new Cashmerette Wickham Skort. It’s super easy to make
Love your dress! Can’t wait to see the one you make with short sleeve cuffs. I just bought the pattern.
Thank you so much
What an amazing haul! I love your passion for sewing! So proud of you and all of your makes! I cannot wait to see Lynn’s pattern with that cute Ankara fabric for the top and the dark denim for the pants!
Thank you so much!
I really love the dress you are wearing and thanks for the haul

Hi Byrd, did you hear or are you participating in organizing Frocktail in Baltimore? kzread.info-y8fMMwB9AE?si=1xtfXf7SHGZxLZZ2
You have to make a some type of tote with the African American Fabric!
That’s a great idea
You clean your machine with the pink items.
Thank you for letting me know ❤️❤️❤️

Such a cool project Byrd!!!
Thank you sis
I am new to your channel. I notice your machine has what appears to be a built in walking foot at the back? Interesting. My mom used to slip a piece of tissue paper beneath the fabric when it was getting eaten by the machine. It tears away easily.
It’s a built in IDT system - very similar to a walking foot - thank you for watching and welcome to my channel
Why pay $500-1500 for a casual designer set when you can make your own?
That’s adorable Byrd.
Thank you!!! Sewing is such a fun journey
Cute!!
Thank you!!!! Have you crocheted a halter top?
@@YogaByrdSews no never tried that
Specialty fabrics like Lacy with decorative bead work. What's crazy is that I can go to downtown Los Angeles and it is really cheap.
I am looking forward to visiting the LA fabric district
It would be great if Jo-Anns merged or collaborated with Sew & Vac Centers. Jo-Anns needs to sell better quality sewing machines than just the mainstream brands that Walmart and Hobby lobby offer.
I like having options - thanks for watching and please subscribe for updates
Staff shortest is definitely a problem. We move state to state every 2 yrs cause we are military, and I can attest to Jo-Anns being short staffed everywhere. There's usually only 3 at best. 1 working the cash register and 1 the cutting counter and 1 restocking. It's not good, and I love Jo-Anns. I still prefer going to Jo-Anns, then Hobby Lobby and Michaels do not have fabric selections, nor does it carry a wide variety of yarn like Jo-Anns.
I agree
My NAME is MIRIAM SANTOS about two month ago i buy a sewing machine and material and I dont recived anything yet please let me know what happen machine $39.00 fabric$67.00 thank you
You should call Joann’s customer service line
I love how you positioned all the denim squares and the patches are awesome. Beautiful done Byrd. I'm up-cycling my denim scraps into a corset and a skirt. I've been trying to finish it but something always comes up..smh.
I know it will be amazing
Can’t wait to see it
Lovely. Lightning stitch takes forever!
It does - I don’t know why they call it a lightening stitch 🤣🤣
I love the colors in the fabric, the top is nice. Do you still use a stretch needle with that thread?
You can use a stretch needle but sometimes I use a regular needle
