Wow Byrd, Don;t know where you live, but your store has a lot of real fabric! My store in Nebraska has THOUSANDS of bolts of fleece! I was just in and saw the gals putting out more fleece! Agree esp offering tons of fleece in Texas! And dislike that they cut way back on scrapbook supplies. And personally I wasted money for a Cricuit Air II before figuring out it wasn’t relevant to me. They push the expensive Cricuit so much for the high margins.

I was in my Joann’s . There were only three people working (this was a Saturday). Fabric was pulled out hanging in all directions, buttons were all over as was thread, it looked like a rummage sale. The store was down sized and with only three people, no time to straighten up. Such a shame because even though I have a Hobby Lobby by me, they don’t have the wide assortment of fabrics. I hope Joann’s can pull through this.

This question may be off topic, but watching this video I got the feeling that you sew a lot of garments for yourself so you’re “in the know” on this topic. I am bigger in the bust (lower, too, but that’s the fault of gravity and too many candles on my birthday cake!!!) and I have the hardest time finding the right size pattern that will fit my bust without being wayyyy big across the shoulders. I guess I don’t understand why I can buy ready-to-wear that is big enough in the bust but still fits the shoulders, but if I sew a dress pattern according to my bust size, the neckline, shoulders, sleeve openings are all just enormously oversized. I know I could spend hours altering patterns, but honestly that just takes the fun out of sewing. Is there some mainstream pattern company that is better than others about making their patterns to fit actual adult mature women than the others? I love Joann and love making my own clothes, but pattern dimensions just seem out of touch with my demographic. Sorry if this is long, but this has been a sticking spot for me for a while.

Thank you for that question. I too am curvy. I’m full busted and blessed in the rear end. I adjust patterns as I’m sewing them to fit me which is part of the beauty of making my own clothing. I was always taught that you buy a pattern to fit the biggest part of you and then tailor the part that doesn't fit. Or, when making a dress, buy two patterns, one to fit the top and one to fit the bottom. A sale on patterns would come in handy.

Best to start looking at plan B alternatives -if indeed your business depends on them….. Look at how many huge nationwide commercial retailers have closed in the last 20 yrs….. Hancock fabrics, Circuit City, Bed Bath & Beyond-most recently, just to name the 1’s I recall. Hancock of Paducah comes to mind as an alternative for U, as far as online shopping. I get pretty good deals there shopping with coupons. Military and teachers get additional discounts.
