At Rio, we believe in jewelers. In the digital age, perhaps this is a radical idea. But we remain committed to supporting anyone who has ever picked up a piece of metal and made something wearable. We exist to support the bench jeweler, the jewelry designer, the retail jeweler and the jewelry manufacturer. We stand for makers who create with their hands and their hearts and who are courageous enough to make jewelry their livelihood.
Why do we choose to work this way? Because we know that the work you do is important. After all, jewelry is more than fashion. It is art. It is history. It is a story. The pieces you make become heirlooms that transcend time. They capture stories and encapsulate them in metal. We work as a behind-the-scenes character in your own story as a jeweler, and we are proud to support you, your work and your business in every way we can.

I have to do the same with the Foredom H30SJ hand piece slip joint? 😊
So with silver you don’t have scaling on the naked metal side?
You cannot see the installation of the ring guard. The model’s large hands cover most of ring during the demonstration.
does this have multiple belt drives and the ability to tighten the belt for more torque?
Can i use isopropyl alcohol?
Whats difference between ys made and Chinese?
Hi Shane. I just purchased my first power assist graver by Steve Lindsay. I purchased it from Rio. Unfortunately, no one has a specific information about the connections to the compressor. So how do I take this system and connect it to my silent air compressor? After two weeks of digging and talking to my friends that jewelers and stone setters; I have found that each one of them had handpiece failures because no one recommended a 3 stage filter that’s fairly inexpensive. Everything all together is still less expensive than GRS.
Amazing
We are glad you found this helpful!
Great!
Why didnt you use your roller mill to the finest groove but started using drawplate?
That was very helpful but the inside of my hand piece is falling out. Did it break and I need to replace it or is there a way to fix it? Maybe I lost a piece and didn't see it. Ty
Das sieht mir persönlich zu sehr nach Maschine aus. Gerade die handgeschmiedete Unregelmässigkeit macht das Material für mich interessant. Und die Seele, die das Werstück mit formt...
❤ Great vale content thanks

What are the mandrels made of?
Thank You
You are welcome, Deb!
Hi Mark, thank you so much for this incredible video! You do such a great job at teaching and explaining things in a simple easy to understand way much appreciated! I realize this video is quite old but I’m hoping someone can answer my question: I learned in the comment section that you were using number two argentum silver triangle wire and what I wondered is that the same wire that you hammered with the dead blow hammer? In the video it looked like the wire you were hammering was flat wire.? Thank you again for this amazing video! I’ll definitely be watching it over and over again. 🙏🏼😊👍🏼
Thanks for the question! Yes, the bracelet being made here uses the number 2 triangle shaped Argentium wire. Currently we we carry Argentium triangle wire in sizes 1 and 1.5, which are both slightly larger than what Mark is using in this video. www.riogrande.com/product/argentium-silver-triangle-wire-dead-soft/108750GP/?code=108751 Another option would be to use sterling silver triangle wire, which is available in 10 different sizes, including the size 2 that is used here. www.riogrande.com/product/sterling-silver-triangle-wire-dead-soft/100602GP/?code=100602
@@RioGrande1944 thank you so much for responding to my question! I will definitely check out the links you provided! Thanks again! 😊
I'm a complete novice bench jeweler. I am taking a diploma course through New York Institute of Art & Design by Penn Foster. I'm working on my project, making an ID bracelet. I am to shape the links for the bracelet myself. The wire I am to use is 14 gauge brass wire. This wire is very difficult to bend with my round nose pliers, and is even worse using my stepper pliers. Of course, the course has taught me about annealing, but I wasn't sure how to go about it. There are no videos in the course. This video is very helpful. Thank you for making it. However, I do have one question. Can a butane torch be used to do the annealing?
I was told to hit it against a concrete curb for a long time.
Can this punch out 18ga copper?
Thank you for the question. Yes, it will cut up to 16g when used with a mallet and up to 10g when used in a Bonny Doon press.
Thank you..I've learnt a lot ...Cheers
Excellent. Cheers!
Good info 👍
Thank you! Be sure to follow out channel for more videos.
Can you lightly polish the fine silver layer? It's a shame if it can only be left matte
Where can you buy the electric pump? And can you just add the electric pump to the original Bonnie doone or do you have to upgrade it first??
Thank you for the question. Here is a link: www.riogrande.com/product/bonny-doon-electric-hydraulic-pump-with-hose/110459GP/?code=110459

Can you use fine round wire instead of cloisonne wire. Thanks. What gauge would you suggest.
So what do you do with a bunch of half circles
I have a project which is at an impasse, More my limitations then anything else, I have a silver refining shop at my home in St. Michaels, MD where I refine scrap sterling silver to .999 fine . Starting with nitric acid boil, plating out with copper, melting the silver cement into shot and then 10 days in the electrolytic silver cell. This pure silver crystal stock is great for casing bars, I usually do 5 and 10 oz bars and logo and hallmark them. This has gone well and I have no issue with making bars. My next quest is to manufacture fractional rounds, and that's where I'm running into issues , I'd like to have you do a consult for helping me come up with a good system for making good quality ingot stock to roll constant strips. I'm clearly overworking my stock by rolling it to death and yes I'm Annealing it as needed, but I'm starting with a an ingot that is too thick and not consistent. Is this something that you might be able to help me solve? A phone call would explain the issues better, anyway let me know your initial thoughts, Not looking for any freebies just problem solving. Best Craig
Great info, thanks for sharing. I'm new too engraving and I'm wondering if there's a platform to buy used equipment such as pneumatic engravers / vices / microscopes and such?
