The steam place opposite Chesterfield farm?
We used to take our 3 little kids here frequently on Sunday afternoons from Narre Warren and Berwick, when they were little in the early 2000s, for a couple of train rides, rides on the ponies and a play at the park. Used to love riding behind the steamers. - A fabulous long and complex railroad with many happy memories amongst the gum trees.
I remwmbee there was the Carribbean Gardens Railway near Scoresby. RIP.
So many childhood memories there Such a shame it closed down
A few days ago, you posted a trip that was over two hours long. Made me wonder what it would be like to go on a train this size for that long.😳 Great railway though, and I bet the rest of the club is cool too.😄
@@martythemartian99 a couple of hours would be interesting. 'Train Mountain' in America would be such a place with a miniature railway that would take hours to do one complete trip. 👍😀
I wonder how many teaspoons of chip shop oil that old stonker consumes as it idles along.... ahem
@@annpeerkat2020 hmmm.... 🤔 I don't reckon it would run to well on old chip shop oil. 🤣🤣👍
@@driver667 oh...pity! I've known a few land cruisers that do OK. Smell very salivating too! Don't need electronic tracking devices to know when they go past! Well... I should mention one of my favourite words... a bit of trans (transesterification) helps the running quality.
What was the dumb idea behind lack of express tracks?
@@qjtvaddict money I would say would have been a major problem. 🤔👍🤣
Whereabouts is this in Scoresby

Thank you for this! Love the classic N Class horn.
@@andrewmilici1779 you're welcome. Very happy you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀
Could you let the subtitles stay longer on the screen? Or redisplay when leaving a station? That would be very helpful.

Great video. Nice view and the sound of the train was magic. As a young`n I would get a close up look at the trains. Dad used to cut sleepers up for the trains to burn. He would take me to where he was cutting and of course there where the trains. So from a young age I got a liking for steam trains that has not lessened.

NZer here - great video! I love the rural areas shown here - great scenery!
@@gaius_enceladus you're welcome. I'd like to get back to NZ some time and get my camera on some of the trains over there. 👍😀
I have a short video on my phone (taken in April 2017) from the walking track just where the Baldock Road crossing is at 10:34. The video shows the engine and carriages rolling by. The green painted engine had the ID plate K 163 We walked that track many times having lived nearby for more than 40 years. All the land to the right just before that crossing was paddocks then, with cows. The photo of trees on my account name is very close to that crossing. Our family did that train ride from Moorooduc to Mornington in November 2018. At that time, according to the photo I took, the locomotive was a diesel electric T334 (1956) or T411 (1968). I still have the ticket on the work bench in my shed ! Thanks for the great video!
@@australianbloke3934 you're welcome. Glad you enjoyed some great memories of the railway and the area. 👍😀
“Drivers eye…”
I used to live in Stirling, ADL hills, and remember a large backyard railway near Norton Summit, with a large trestle bridge near the road. Mind you, it was nearly 30 years ago, but this video rang a distant bell. Cheers.
@@xenonozhid3383 very happy it brought back memories of that for you. Back yard railways can be fun. 👍😀
This area is so incredibly green, it's no wonder they named it Emerald.💚 Does the train run year round, or does it shut down in the fire season?🤔🔥
It runs all year except for Christmas day. 👍😀
@@driver667 I think on total fire ban days , a diesel locomotive is substituted for a steam one. btw Great video.

Trying to run express behind a local train is wild and very stupid
@@qjtvaddict there is not much you can do about that. It's a 10 minute local service. It doesn't take long to catch up to the next one in front of you. 👍😀
This brings back lovely memories for me when we moved to Mornington from New Zealand way back in 2000, where we lived for a couple of years when my 2 little kids were toddlers until we moved up to Narren Warren. We rode the railway once with their grandad. My friends who live down the road on the Nepean highway are still there. Mornington will always be a place to call home. 😀

Was really cool to see how all these rail lines that I've seen for decades connect up to each other from the driver's view. Thanks for sharing. The bit from North Quay past the Freo Esplanade is interesting considering it is such a busy (and picturesque) tourist area. Part of the charm.
@@thesootyowl very happy you enjoyed the views of the line from this drivers perspective. 👍😀
What a great video and I did notice that you didn’t stop at some regional stations
@@MarkWilliams-sf9pd this service ran past Traralgon and on to Bairnsdale so was a limited stops service. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀

Much more straight running than I thought on this section... And look at all that plantation timber that may be hauled by rail later on in the future? So wet for December.. That's the West Coast for sure .. I think that the MOW workers must have webbed feet? Did the Hellyer branch ever have a connection facing South, or only the North facing one that we can see easily on the video? Hard to believe that there was once a whole town (even with a school) at Guildford? This station was where the passengers would buy their lunch, as their vehicles were loaded or un-loaded onto the train for the trip to Rosebery.. This was before the road through to Rosebery was opened in the 1960's.. It was also the start of the Waratah Branch line before that... But there is no trace of the town now.. (Although I have heard that the concrete ramp for loading the cars onto the train is still there, where a siding used to be. I don't know if that's right or not)? Great video.. Thank you..
You're welcome. As far as I understand it, the Hellyer branch only had the connection we can see in the video. Guildford is nothing now making it hard to believe of the town that once existed. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀

Imagine driving (or being fireman) on a big old ASG articulated loco on this line? At least you would be warm. But 'worn out' by the time you got back to Burnie? Glad I was not on the train that de-railed.. Even if the loco stayed on the track, what a place to get stranded? This video, like the previous two is an "eye opener" for sure.. Thank you..
It would have been a hard job way back then and a scary time with that derailment. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍😀
Absolutely love the videos, and have recommended them to friends in Sydney.. I have done some road transport driving on the road to Queenstown over the years, and always like to look at the railway in those parts of Tasmania while I'm there? Wish that I had done more? Another guy "Lorirocks 777" posts videos from the cab, in Swiss trains on KZread ... Well worth a look.. Just for interest's sake (or us 'wannabe train drivers') like me ..
Interesting. Might have to have a look. 👍😀

I know that this is the "West Coast", but the amount of water laying on the ground is amazing for December? The very dark grey sky is ready to dump more too, by the look of it? Hatfield to Boco is more like what I had expected, with plenty of curves and cuttings through the forest.. I have only been a passenger on this line once? It's a much better view from a loco? As a passenger, a look out the window, will only get you a great view of bushes... It's like being in a green tunnel for a lot of the trip.. Wonderful to see what's out there.. Truly amazing video... Thank you so much for posting it...
@@robinmathews2446 you're welcome. It truly is an amazing part of Australia with magnificent scenery. Glad you enjoyed it 👍 😀
It was when the train pulled into Warragul and I saw the station all lit up, that I realised it was getting dark... and the zombies would soon appear... or have I been playing too much Minecraft?🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂😳🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂

Interesting way maintenance. The shrubbery isn't actually growing on the tracks, and the trees aren't actually within gauge of the rolling stock, but there's not much in it. The track itself looks pretty good. Things grow fast around here when there is rain.

It is interesting to see how many little things have changed over the years. I must be getting old also. A bit after emerald there were paddocks of potatoes and now it is a car park and sporting oval. But in the era before this part was reopened I was walking along there with my girl.
