    Watching all your videos makes me think that the Victorian regional network might just be the states most underrated public infrastructure. The rolling stock is (mostly) new and fast, the lines are direct, a lot of the stations have had work done… with a few tweaks it “could” be western euro standard

    You don’t realise how steep the horse shoe curve through the valley is as it climbs. It surely must be one of the steepest lines on the current operating network. Back in the steam days a full train of 5 or 6 passenger cars plus engine must have taken an effort to get up the bank particularly on frosty days. Did they have bankers stationed any where to help?

  • @driver667

    @driver667

    28 күн бұрын

    It is pretty steep but not the steepest. Ingliston bank which is what this climb is called is a grade of 1 in 48. What makes it formidable is that it goes on for around 15 km's before it starts to abate. The steepest in the state on the broad gauge is 1 in 30. Belgrave and Glen Waverley come to mind for those grades. 👍😀

    Excellent stuff - my ride home! Question, who decides the tone of the klaxon? Just asking cos the lower two-tone from 2023 had more oomph… cheers mate✌️

    My thoughts, is the deeper toned horn carries further and is more of a noise pollution nuisance. With it being sounded at every crossing and this sort of thing.
