West End Games is now launching a D6 System 2nd Edition on Kickstarter. Do you have a video coming covering your thoughts on the new update?

When you mentioned "these are the rangers who learn the odds spell or trick from hedge witches" it gave me the idea of combining some form of the eremite kit from Ravenloft 2e as the point behind that was to turn a spellcaster into a more folk tale "wise woman" or "village Healer" and they "cast" their spells by preparing herbal concoctions (presumably by rolling, ahem) and either consuming it themselves, or handing it to one of their buddies to consume it. I always liked that a lot because I prefer magic to feel more subtle most of the time the PCs witness it, and that fits in really well for the magic ranger as you described here.

Kindof a side note, but are you familiar with the 3.5 "Vodan" class from the sword and sorcery Ravenloft books? It feels like they tried to combine the eremite kit with a mystic theurge but like, as a base class, I've always wanted to get one of my players to try it but nobody has bitten yet, lol.

The new art gives me more content for my favorite passtime: Read non-mexicans cry about cultural appropriation while actual mexicans get excited about cool rep and visibility. Oh the perks of being a syncretist culture. Already working on the Pancho Villa revolutionary orc build with a touch of cannibalism for the aztec rep. 💃

on the topic of your gripe of inovation or understanding not being focused on, I felt like Worlds Without Number, another “dying earth”, “so far in the future that countless civilizations have risen and fallen” base setting had some really neat content for both the GM to make, and for players to study and innovate with those long lost magic, tech, and pieces of society.

A large problem with modern Trek isn't that they've forgotten what people wanted from Star Trek, but that they really don't want to give us that. Proper Star Trek entertains you and makes you think, and too much of modern Hollywoodland hates both of those with a passionate intensity.

well, if thayatis has some roman vibes, i could see how that could extrapolate into one of their colonies developing iberian culture seeing as spanish and Portuguese are descendent from latin. Though that still leaves the spanish elves as a loose end.

It would be fun to play as a hule spy. Though I think one way to go about it would be to be open about being a spy to your party. Though just not a very ambitious one (not that you should be trusted on that). A good explanation that Hule has spys everywhere so that the master can have his news of the world report, but not all of them need to be trying to weaken the nation they are in- just keep tabs on it. Though you would need to be up front that whatever happens or said will be eventually in a spy report. Might be a cute bit of character development if they reports are gone though by the party and it was seen that the reports start leaving out some personal details as time gose on.

Just nabbed the pdf of Wrath of the Immortals for free on DM's Guild. So now I'm thinking of running a true BECMI campaign, starting at 1st level and running through the Immortal levels. I've run two campaigns to immortality, but I disliked the gold box so much that we never actually played immortals. But now, just maybe.
